What type of Monitor should I purchase? 16:9 or 21:9 - or even wider?! 1080p or 4k? 60hz or 144hz - or 360hz?! All these questions and more can be answered here.
Best 4k Monitor for gaming?
I have an RTX 4090 and already have the LG C2 TV but I want something smaller to put on my desk (currently using 1440p IPS LG 27GN800). Budget is 1500 euros. I don’t want the ultra wide 34” Alienware OLED DWF.
I want:
-
4k Display
-
32-34” is the biggest I am willing to go
-
120 Hz minimum.
-
Budget: 1500 euros
Are there any OLED monitors like that? Or anything that comes close or at least is a noticeable improvement over LG’s IPS monitor? I have heard of stuff like mini-LED but I have no idea how that works. So a quick explanation would be helpful.
Any recommendations under 1500?
I think this monitor could be a great fit. It’s a mini-LED and should meet your specs comfortably.
The best 4k gaming monitor is the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 S32BG85, a fantastic option with a 4k @ 240Hz refresh rate. While you still need a high-end graphics card to reach its max refresh rate, it’s at least a good choice if you plan on upgrading your PC and don’t want to buy a new monitor in the future. However, if you don’t want such a high refresh rate with a monitor now, you can consider the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 S32BG75, a very similar monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate instead, which also tends to cost less. Other considerable options are Sony INZONE M9 It’s different from the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 S32BG85 because it has a lower 144Hz refresh rate and doesn’t have Mini LED backlighting, so it has worse picture quality with a lower contrast ratio, and highlights don’t pop as much. LG 32GR93U-B is one of those models, and while it has worse picture quality than the Sony due to the lack of a local dimming feature, it still provides the excellent performance you’d expect from a gaming monitor. It has an incredibly fast response time at any refresh rate, and while it doesn’t have a backlight strobing feature to further improve it, motion looks smooth regardless. Gigabyte M27U is worth stretching your budget for because it’s excellent for gaming with a 150Hz native refresh rate that you can overclock to 160Hz. It’s very similar to the LG 32GR93U-B as it’s also excellent for gaming, but there are some minor differences. It has less HDMI 2.1 bandwidth than the LG, as it only supports 24 Gbps of bandwidth compared to 48 Gbps on the LG.
