Do y'all think other God's exist or existed besides the seneschal

We see the water's God alter and I believe others have been mentioned so is it possible for other God's to live in the world or are they just different names for the seneschal

They are old gods. They are most likely older than the seneschal and dragon. Might be dead from lack of worship.

That would also bring into question would they be older than the cycle

Goddamn this game has so much world building and potential for the sequel.

I like to think these older gods are actually previous Arisens, elevated to godhood by their actions during their longer than normal lives, but remembered by few due to the passage of time. Some may even have been reincarnated as the drakes and wyverns we fight in the game - they do tend to say some very interesting things about the Cycle, which, in theory, has gone on for ages, and is something Arisens that have fought the Seneschal know much about.

I think its pretty likely there's some other, more powerful beings than the seneschal around.

The parallel worlds thing begs the question if there are more seneschals and more dragons. Then you have characters like Daimon which are human but seem to derive a godly amount of power - I mean his will basically shapes the island of BBI. You also have the cosmic horror type enemies like the gazer which are stated to be from another world.

And like someone else mentioned the Seneschal is basically just an ascended human. How much they actually know or if someone is pulling their strings is a mystery.

Given that the word seneschal basically refers to a steward, I believe that there is probably a god above them, as well as what others have mentioned with the old gods.

Or used to be and they left for greener pastures leaving the Seneschal in charge of the "house keeping" 😂

I think we see remnants of them through different monsters. The Beholders and other tentacle other worldly monsters.

I could be wrong. Idk if they have any mention of what these are in the game.

The beholders are actually the eyes of dead dragons. Not “official” canon, but that’s their description in the concept art and it kinda fits. The idea is that when a dragon dies, they pour all of their remaining magickal energy into their eyes, perhaps out of spite.

Hard to say. Maybe they were just powerful beings. The seneschal is basically just a person that ascended, so they don't really know any more than we do sadly.

Yes there are other gods that existed in the world of Dragon's Dogma, most notably are the Old Gods who are mentioned many times in the game and has many dungeons related to them. Dragon's Dogma Online also expended the world lore but I don't know anything about it.

Edited

DDON takes place in one of the alternate worlds, Lestania. But it's hard to know much about the game with it being all Japanese and stuff.

All I remember from playing it before it went down was that the White Dragon fought the Golden Dragon, got badly injured after defeating it, and made a bunch of humans Arisen to protect it and build the White Dragon Temple while routing out evil from the land.

Two places in the game reference this. The Water Gods Alter (The Water God) and the Catacombs (The Earth God).

Tis something to ponder. Whether those other gods were actual gods or not is up for debate. They could be as most ancient gods are, just a way of understanding the world, or actual in the flesh gods. The only god we know about for sure is the Seneschal. But since he is just a steward of the world there may be higher existences we don't know about. But if there is then that brings up a question. If there is a higher god then why don't they just ascend higher when they are defeated by the arisen, why must they die for you to take his place. You would think the reward for maintaining the world for millennia would be to ascend higher not death. Yes I know being rewarded for being defeated sounds dumb but he does bring himself down to your level when he fights you. I mean he could erase you with a thought if he really wanted to.

It seems like yes. IIRC the cyclops were mentioned as having been cursed by "the gods", and Ashe also mentions the cycle is the "will of the gods" iirc, and Arthacos/Death is sacrificing people to something (although it might be just "normal" insanity).
