With Voice Attack? That's been my main hangup in trying this install in Linux, I didn't think I could take VA with me. Is using Steam a big reason for this to work, or could it be done separate?

Thank you for your efforts and information.
This method also works for EDDiscovery 11.4.3.0 (I like to explore). It was one of the things Ive been missing since I switched to linux for ED. I think it needs 'protontricks 359320 vcrun2017' to work, but im not 100% sure since that was installed to make my ED work.
Invaluable post!
A few questions if anyone can answer.
After installing all the dotnet/voiceattack/voicepack is it possible to backup the compatdata/359320 dir and copy back after say a new install , without any problems?
Could i then torrent the compata dir and send it to a friend to copy into his install?
Is it possible to start a game of ED and have it launch voiceattack at the same time?
Thanks, it's exactly what I wanted!I have just one question, should I buy VA on steam or through their site directly?
I guess that since I run it inside the Elite Dangerous wine bubble I should get the standalone version but I just want to make sure of that.
Anyone having similar issue when running this command?
protontricks -c 'wine msiexec /i SpeechPlatformRuntime.msi' 359320
Output:
wineserver: using server-side synchronization.
007c:err:ntoskrnl:ZwLoadDriver failed to create driver L"\\Registry\\Machine\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\S
ervices\\wineusb": c0000142
0034:fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"wineusb" failed to start: 1114
Hi again, one more question.
Why exactly is
msxml3
needed in our case?.msi files?

That's awesome that you got it to work in linux. I run fedora and gave up ages ago trying to get windows games to run. I just run windows vms now for my gaming needs, including elite dangerous with voice attack
i wanted to ask can voice attack be used to launch applications on linux (im using kde) like steam etc like it can on windows?

u/supernovajm are you still using Voice Attack? Sorry I know this is a really old AF thread but I'm trying to get this working and so far I've had no luck :(
Any luck? I'm trying on the steam deck. Got everything installed correctly and it launches, but didn't seem to recognise voice
Any chance this guide could be adapted for the Steam Deck? I'm looking to get VoiceAttack working for multiple games, especially Hogwarts Legacy:)
I too am here looking to set up VoiceAttack for Elite:Dangerous on Steam Deck. Has anyone had luck with this? I need me that William Shatner's Orion voice pack, been trying to get it since launch.
