Someone else will direct it whenever they decide they want to start working on it

Itsuno will make his own IP with a different name. But we'll all know it's dragon dogma 3.

Dragon's Doctrine release date when?

OP don't listen to anybody saying that we won't get a DD3 because the creator left. These people know nothing about game dev.

Sure, we might not get a DD3, but it won't be for that reason. If Capcom sees $$$, they'll greenlight it. If they don't see $$$, then we won't. It's that simple.

Literally tons of examples in the gaming industry of a franchise creator leaving and the franchise continuing. Gears of War, God of War, Halo, and Mass Effect to name some. Hell, even over at Capcom you have Resident Evil which the creator left long ago. Devil May Cry wasn't even created by the Dragon's Dogma creator, but the series soared when he took over.

The guy responsible for DDON and Dark Arisen could easily head up the next Dragons Dogma project. Most likely they’re working on an expansion for DD2 anyhow. Its too early to be worrying about a sequel

Best aspects of both games? The best aspects of both games are the same.

Not exactly, some things are better in dd2 and virse versa

Unfortunately, Capcom have a long list of great IP left to take dust despite having a lot of potential (Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe,  Onimusha, Okami etc.).

The same Dragon's Dogma was almost forgotten for twelve years before to come back, before Itsuno pointed his feet to could make a sequel, so I'm afraid his departure, united with the polemics surrounding it would make the chances for a third instalment very slim, and almost surelly won't come soon...

I agree. It would take someone at Capcom specifically pushing for it to be made, otherwise they'll just do other stuff. I'm not sure if anyone else at Capcom would be specifically wanting to make a Dragon's Dogma game, especially since the original mind behind it already claimed DD2 as the completely realized version of the concept.

In a way, I believe most devs would feel they're being disrespectful by asking to make a new one without Itsuno, and Dragon's Dogma isn't successful enough for the higher ups to single it out for a sequel.
