it also comes with a black foam filter in the box as well which might be much easier than making something custom
That's at least better, but I'd still love having it purple so it's unique. Thanks for the heads up though, really appreciate it!
I wasn't sure about the red either, but if it's anything like my DynaCasters it's actually surprisingly subtle and classy. That said, I would probably try adding a thin fabric to color it rather than replacing or painting the foam.it might be possible to dye it, but I have no idea what that process is like.
I worry that a replacement foam piece would have to be quite precisely the right shape to avoid getting crunched up or flopping around inside, and if either happens it could impact the sound. Too tight and it could cut down the sensitivity and high frequency response, too loose and the sound of it shaking around in there could be picked up, probably very loudly. Hence my initial recommendation to wrap the original foam in a cores fabric, ideally cutting and sewing it to the right shape to avoid folds and wrinkles
Yeah that might be a good call. Billy gibbon's signature has a purple pop filter so I wish they'd just sell that grille seperate but nope. I guess I'll give a thin fabric a go. Thank you so much!
Have you tried messaging SE’s customer support / sales dept. to see if they’ll sell you a Billy Gibbons replacement pop filter? The contact info is all on their site - Support
Don’t spray paint the foam, you’ll block all the pores, and over time particles will fall onto the capsule and ruin it.
First off, are you both aware that the pop filter goes in the inside of the microphone and not the outside for the SEV7? She might be thinking it's something that goes on the outside and imo it doesn't look tacky at all when you put in the inside.
Yeah we know, she's used the mic before
