Infinity is generally well regarded. They're owned by Harmon so same parent company of jbl and others. I'm not familiar with those models but I would set them up and see how you like them. At the very least you have something to listen to until you decide to upgrade.
The RS aren’t bad speakers. Just kind of above average and usable, good for music. The Kappas from that era were pretty special.
All I buy are used infinity speakers. I stick to the Studio monitor line (like SM-65).
I'm actually on the hunt for some SM-65 and SM-85 speakers right now to work on my surround sound setup.
I absolutely love them.
I have a question for you, as you sound like an expert. We have two infinity SM120 floor speakers, and the sound from one of them is very very weak, almost none. Should we fix them? what are they worth if we sell them? We are just thinking between: fix and continue using them; sell as it is with one speaker broken, or fix and sell then. 🙏

Upvote for Infinty speakers! I liked my Infinity 2000.6 towers better than the Polk's I replaced them with.
Pull the grills off and check for degradation of the cone material. I had a pair from the nineties and they started to disintegrate.
OK, I'll look. Will it be pretty evident to the eye if that is happening? And are there ways to prevent that from happening in the future?
Also — if I need to dust them off (under the grill), is it safe to use one of those compressed-air cans with the straw, if I don't hold it too close (i.e. keep it 6" away)?

Quick question, I have some old speakers inherited with my relatives belongings and indeed they are disintegrating... Are they replaceable/fixable? I don't want them but don't know if I should try and find a taker, send them to salvation army or chuck them? I'm short on time and they are taking up useful space. Any advice?
