Second thoughts about Edifier R1280DB
I was on the lookout for a good sound and found these Edifier R1280DB on Amazon. There was zero discount so I paid full price for them.
I don't know if this is just me but I am not liking the bassy nature of these. I have set the Bass to negative and treble to 75% Still, the bass is overpowering the rest of the music. Also, I found these to be Boomy(if thats a word).
I dont know what I was expecting. These are really good speakers and I really want to like them. I came from Macbook M1 Speakers lol. Maybe I got used to the non existence of bass on them, but they sounded clear and bright!. This is not the case with these.
I did an experiment. Played the same song simultaneuously on Mac and These speakers. I put the mac near me and moved away from the speakers. I found what I was looking for. I liked the clarity of Mac and Lows of these mixed. Like I need the bass to be strong and not boomy. Maybe its my room as its mostly empty and not sound treated.
Can anyone relate with me or am I just stupid.
I am bit lost here. Guide me please.
Edit: Changed the 1280dbs to 1280db

You're not the first person not to like a pair of speakers they bought. You don't need external validation--this isn't the sound you're after. One additional thing to try before you move on is to set the speaker's tone controls flat and use an application to equalize the sound (e.g., Apple Music's equalizer).
Yeah I am working on that
Also and just to be clear, these are 2 different models: The old R1280DB and the newer R1280DBs
Updated the model.
Only difference is sub out I guess
What are the speakers sitting on?
Just the table
They're cheap powered bottom end "acceptable" PC speakers
What do you think I should get? I have some days to decide if I want to return them or keep em.
Get the Micca PB42 and see if you like those more. I have the Micca MB42X, which is the passive version of those, as well as the Edifier P12, which I think is the passive version of yours. I understand, the Edifiers definitely have a bit of bloated bass, the Miccas are a bit cleaner throughout.
