Good Gaming Microphone recommendations?

Question

Hello great people of Reddit

Quick version: What is a great microphone that you would recommend for YouTube game recordings and live streaming?

Please do not suggest Yeti’s. Read the long story to find out why.

Preferably something mid to low price range. I am not a millionaire and this is currently a hobby. But I would still like something better than my old gaming headset which is my last resort if I can’t get the issue fixed/refunded.

Also something that is not supper sensitive to background noises is a bonus. Also why I no longer like yeti’s.

Long Story if interested:

So I do some game recordings for YouTube for fun, nothing major or big.

Currently I am using the blue yeti caster set. So I have a Yeti Microphone, with an arm and shock mount.

But lately the mic has started to play up and disconnect at the slightest bump even with the shock mount. Even if I breathe. Or tap my desk lightly. Which makes game recording and playing with others frustrating as I have to restart the game to get the mic to work in game again.

Research here and on YouTube suggested the problem is a very common problem with yeti’s where the port that the USB cable goes into the mic is broken/loose. Hence why it disconnects at the slightest bump.

Hopefully mine should still be under warranty so while I chat with Logitech and Amazon. To either get a replacement or refund. I wanted to start researching other microphones. Or back up plan.

I was never really a fan of my Yeti at the start due to the fact that it is super sensitive. It picks up my keyboard and mouse even though it is far away with the gain all the way down. So I mic that is trust worthy and not super sensitive would be great.

In the case of a refund I would love and appreciate your opinion on what is a good replacement mic to get.

Thank you

And have a lovely day :)

Or the maono pd100. Not a condenser, it's a dynamic microphone so it doesn't pick up background noise as easily.

I hvae a razer seiren mini and it does the job perfectly well for 50 bucks. Happy with my purchase although i do think i have noise-dampening software paired with it...

A decent microphone is going to pick up your keyboard. You can get key silencers to help reduce the amount it picks up. Also on the blue yeti, side you adjust it to only pick up sounds in front? Or is it set to omnidirectional?

Maono AU-422 condensor micraphone is decent and good value for the price.

Sounds like your yeti is suffering from shoddy USB mini port. All it takes to fix it is a resolder of the port which took me 10 minutes to do for mine. If you got a friend good with that stuff, you can get it fixed.

I previously used a random mic off Amazon that worked really well. Unfortunately, I don't think they carry it anymore. Audio Technica's attachable headset mic is also quite good.

I personally use a lewitt 440, but that's a high end mic

Marantz Professional have great microphones, I let you choose the model based on your budget but if you are curious mine is the MPM-1000.
