I had a sushi chef make these for me once. Delicious

Aw yeaa! 🙌 I used the tails to make a raw crudo. The tail meat is so sweet and buttery!

I’ve only had it prepared this way in Japanese restaurants. They’re delicious this way.

I would love to try these. I did not know this was a thing

Edited

I always get these if I can at sushi restaurants. They’re like super concentrated Japanese shrimp chips you find at Asian grocery stores.

Have eaten this a few times. It’s not bad. But, I’ll eat almost anything.

I’ve had them before. Not a fan. The little antenna and legs really throw me off.

Any answer other than “HELL YES I WOULD EAT THEM!” is wrong.

That is a delicacy my friend.

I usually get the salt and pepper shrimp and it is very similar to this. I love eAting the whole shrimp head and all. Crunchy and delicious.

Im probably the odd man out, but ive never understood how one could eat the shell of a shrimp or something like soft shell crab.

I have never tried it so I’m not speaking from experience but it just seems like eating a banana or orange with the peel still on. Is this me being a boring white guy? Lol

Do you eat all the little legs and head as well?

After frying, the shells on these spot prawns get pretty crispy, like a potato chip... or something. I'm having a hard time thinking of an exact comparison texturally. It is about the same as a deep fried soft shell crab though. And yes, you can eat the legs and everything--it's a bit of an "adventure" because the legs have little spines, but they're more crispy than chewy. Nutty tasting. I recommend

Like crispy fried fish fins. I always eat fried shrimp tails. I do not eat the steamed ones, not crispy or salty or fabulously greasy.

The shell of freshwater shrimps/prawns is no harder than a toaster strudel

I would eat tails only. I can't explore further north of the mud vein

Hah 🤣 fair enough

Just had some tempura langoustine heads for dinner, they’re seriously amazing

So damn good!
