My favorite bit about that trivia is that if that WAS how it worked, maiming strike wouldnt have been so overbearingly strong.
Before the nerf the flat was applied BEFORE all the mods,not after. (thus why atterax after a single spin was already hitting red crits)
Had DE just made it apply as a value at the end instead of making bloodrush scale off it. then it would have had its place as a "make slide weapons strong but not mandatory" (course the funniest thing on this nerf was DE went out of there way to further nerf Tonfa's base slide damage, who's entire gimmik was low base attack but high slide attack damage)
To balance this mod, i would rework it to :
+30% base crit chance on slide attack. (so, multiply by crit mods. but only 30%, far less than the 90% before rework)
Or :
+60% damage on slide attack (multiplicative) ; +2m range on slide attack.
I think in both case, it would be strong enough to make slide attack and this mode good again, without make it stronger than everything other like before the rework.
Man, looking back on the AoE nerfs upcoming and seeing this.

This mod basically demonstrates how DE works today. Its not about making a fun game but how to make a game into a $$$$ maker today 90% of DE's meetings is about "how do we make money, push more skin sales, nerf old gear to force players to grind or pay for new gear, to inflate player base numbers make it look like people enjoy playing the game"|
Today the only reason why vets still play this game is creating weapon porn and being the first to find and show off a god tier build to exploit before DE nerfs it next week. this game now feels like a casino, the same way gambling addicts look for new ways to exploit casinos is the perfect analogy of the DE vet player always thinking he can one up the studio
There's no more cohesion or grand vision of story the DEVS just like Hollywood look at old 1960s, 70s, 80s novels, comic books, video games, and movie content to copy from and hope nobody remembers what 50 year old idea they are stealing from

Already a massive improvement from everyone running the exact same melee weapon and just doing slide attacks with Maiming Strike.
Also what kind of shitty builds are you running that AoE weapons are a must? The only thing where that is even remotely true is solo steel path survival, and only if you don't even have punchthrough on the single target weapon.
AoE meta is just as boring as slide attack meta was, pretend otherwise and you are lying to yourself. Fact of the matter is, Warframe is a horde shooter, so wide range damage will remain king in 90% of the content. You have your pockets where single target can shine, but that's really all they are: pockets. (Disruption and Liches/Sisters come to mind)
If your single target weapon isn't good enough to kill crowds like in steel path survival, its just because you are bad at the game, you don't even need punch through, just either get a better weapon, or mod it better. The issue is you here, AOE is nowhere neer a must, even for level cap, just (literally) gitgud
And as always, punchthrough is an extremely slept on stat.
Does the mid air slide your do for heavy attack using Exodia Contagion count?
Late response but no it doesn't count as a slide attack. Only for direct contact with the weapon.
This would mean Heavy Slide Mid-Air Attack would but the proper term probably is Knee Attack which is in fact, totally worthless unless I'm wrong and Slide Actually means Slide and works whenever you slide.

Yes, its utterly worthless, given how regular attacks have forced procs and multipliers slide attacks pale in comparison, you would've noticed that if you weren't stuck in 2016 when memeing strike and spin to win macro users were prevalent and melee was as powerful as a hair dryer is as stopping a charging hippo
Its 150% for which you have to do deimos bounties of which its a rare drop, new players would just use true steel which is 120% (which doesn't require slide and works all around) until they can get sacrificial steel if they need it for a heavy attack build, as blood rush is infinitely better crit mod.

I get that it was overpowered in the past but is DE retarded? Sacrificial steel gives you a higher crit chance and not limited to slide attacks. Once again proof this clown dev studio doesn't play their game outside of 1 hour community streams.

What made it overpowered in the past was that it was Additive. which meant that if the 90% would be added to a base 30 making 120 vs the 220 from sacrificial would only take 30% to 96%

When you have a company like DE constantly manipulating the game, that's called self serving corruption. DE is just as shady as a casino. the whole point of a GAME is you create rules and stick to them when the game maker constantly breaks rules to serve their own interest then there's nothing trust worthy about them and this is why video games will take a massive fall after hyper inflation sets in
