Sniper Ammo Mutation is a sniper rifle mod that converts any unused Secondary Ammo into Primary Ammo. The affected weapon will only convert ammo while equipped, and will not convert any ammo type used by holstered secondary weapons until their own ammo is full.
Converted ammo is denoted by a symbol. The final amount of ammo restored is rounded to the nearest integer.

Hotfix 32.3.3 (2023-02-17)
- Fixed being unable to equip Sniper Ammo Mutation on Snipers.
Update 32.3 (2023-02-15)
- Fixed weapons that formerly used Sniper ammo appearing when using the term “sniper” to search in the Arsenal despite not being categorized as a Sniper weapon.
- This would affect a weapon like the Lenz, which now uses Primary Ammo. It can still be found in the Arsenal when searching using the term “Bow”. You can still find your Rubico Prime using the term “Sniper”, so worry not!
Update 32.0 (2022-09-07)
- Sniper Ammo Mutation: Now converts Secondary ammo pickups to 50% of Ammo Pick Up.
Hotfix 31.1.7 (2022-02-23)
- Fixed the Sniper Ammo Mutation mod not mutating Rifle ammo at the described rate.

For some reason after 500h of playing I still don't have this.

For your Kuva Ogris, a R0 regular mod will suffice. Both R0 and Rmax give 1 ammo per converted pickup, even without a secondary weapon.
Kuva Ogris cannot equip this mod anymore though.
I'm pretty sure yesterday I have equipped it, though. I was wondering why it's got de-equipped, but I have just re-equipped it.
I think its got fixed recently, in the 32.3.3 Hotfix.

Doesn't seem like it can be modded on the Komorex.
According to the Komorex description, it already has a built-in one so it wouldn't make sense to have it twice.
Why does this not work on the penta? (The Penta uses Sniper ammo)
Are you sure it doesn't? Note that Sniper Ammo Mutation only works when you have your primary equipped. Other than that, it should work. It even works for Tonkor
I'm not sure what's going on either. I remember using this in the past on my Penta and I usually use rank 0 because I feel it's enough. I got the Secura Penta and I'm leveling it, I can equip it but it definitely does not work, at rank 0 anyway don't know about higher :\

I would assume so. The chart seems to suggest that you would get 8 sniper ammo per rifle/pistal ammo "box" with this mod at max rank, and only 1 at rank zero.
Depends on your needs. If you only need it to get by because of the craptastic sniper ammo drop rate, no. If you are constantly blowing your load because you can't aim or if there are mobs(high level, quantity or both) that warrant it, yes.
On a side note, this stupid mod doesn't show up in the primary tab.
It already wastes a slot, so you might as well max it out
Adding these to extraction missions was a godsend, far easier to farm now. I just got the arrow and sniper mutation on earth excavation in one 20-25 minute run (plus 35 of the event isotopes)

It doesn't, bows have their own called Arrow mutation.

This thing seems to drop more often than the other mutations, i'd say uncommonly but not rare, as a 20min survival reward on mercury (appolodorus).
In order of rarity;

That's cute, I have 5 Rifle Mutes, 4 Pistol Mutes, 2 Arrow Mutes, 1 Shotgun Mute and no Sniper Mutes. Is this even accurate?

Actually the Miter currently still lists the Rifle Ammo Mutator as being compatable with it and it's been that way for a while now. It's probably a bug that DE never fixed (maybe on purpose so that more people could use the Miter since more players have the Rifle Ammo Mutator and it eats ammo when used uncharged).

How does the MOD actually work? Says at Rank 0 will take 1 Pistol/Rifle ammo or 3 Shotgun ammo and do... what? I understand that it takes unused ammo and converts it into Sniper ammo, but what is the ratio of pistol/rifle ammo into Sniper ammo. At Rank 0 converts 1 Rifle ammo into...?? Some clarity would be appreciated!
So when you walk over an unused ammo pack on the ground, and you do not have full ammo, it will convert it into the amount of sniper ammo listed in the table above, dependent on level.
It's probably too late to explain this, but just in case anyone else has the same question...
The way it works is that at rank 0 it converts 1 Rifle or Pistol Ammo Pack (the kind you get as drops from mobs and storage) into 1 single round of Sniper Ammo. It is not converting one single round of Rifle/Pistol ammo into a round of Sniper ammo.
Therefore, at rank 3 it converts one Rifle/Pistol Ammo Pack into 5 rounds of Sniper ammo. That is why ranking up this particular mod is helpful, but you may not find it necessary to rank it up all of the way.
