I am completely new to Proxmox, I got a device to use as my main router with OpenWRT and some VMs. I have some basic Linux knowledge playing with some Pis and other SBCs with Armbian and Mint on my PC.

r/homelab - OpenWRT as main router in Proxmox

My idea is using all ports for OpenWRT to manage all my network, one of the ports would be the WAN from my ISP and the other 3 would be LAN. Then a couple of dump switches and APs.

I have already installed Proxmox and OpenWRT but I have a few questions and I don't know how to proceed.

  1. Can I passthrough all 4 ports to the OpenWRT VM and get the proxmox management gui with the OpenWRT network? Currently I have 3 passtrough and the first with vmbr0.

  2. Can I get the VMs on the device connected to the OpenWRT network?

  3. I guess I will lose all conectivity when passthrough all the ports, how can I restore connectivity from console?

  4. I have an USB Wifi adapter, I guess I could use it too to be able to access to the proxmox browser gui to complete the setup when I set all 4 ports for OpenWRT. Can I?
