The Legendary Core is a special type of consumable Mod, which cannot be equipped, but instead can be used to maximize any single mod without
Endo and
Credits costs but will be consumed in the process. It is currently very rare, making it a highly valuable object to have.
Acquisition[]
- Awarded from Sorties or Archon Hunt upon completion of the third mission, at a very low 0.18% chance.
- Can be traded with other players (with a base tax of
1,000,000 per Core). - 1 is given for completing a Mastery Rank Legendary Rank Test.
- Occasionally given away as an exclusive reward by Digital Extremes.

Notes[]
- When trading, Legendary Cores are found in the Mods section.
- Outside of a trade one can check how many Legendary Cores they have by opening their Mods collection (default: Esc > EQUIPMENT > MODS) and selecting any single mod (below maximum rank) for fusion and the clicking on START FUSING INTO SELECTED MOD. The number of Cores will be displayed in top right corner of the game window above LEGENDARY CORE label.
- The most efficient use of a Legendary Core is on rank 0 Primed, Umbra Mods or Archon Mods, such as
Primed Continuity,
Umbral Fiber or
Archon Intensify, which would save 40,920
Endo and 1.7m
Credits. The second-most efficient use of a Legendary Core is on rank 0 Rare Mods that have a maximum rank of 10 (including Galvanized mods), such as
Blind Rage or
Galvanized Scope or
Amalgam Serration, which would save 30,690 Endo and 1.4m Credits, relative to 75% savings compared to the Primed/Umbra/Archon mods.
Trivia[]
- Legendary Core is currently the only item in game that appears in Trading listing selection, but does not appear in any inventory listing selection (including Mod listing selection).
- Legendary Core has two different context-dependent icons: one in Trading window and another in Mod window (but is not the only item with this feature - since
Credits and many common Resources also have multiple icons). - Before Update: The Silver Grove (2016-08-19) was deployed:
- Legendary Core was stored in the form of a mod card, before converted into a Fusion resource.
- Legendary Core was the first Legendary-tier mod ever distributed in the game. The next being primed mods offered by Baro Ki'Teer and Daily Tribute.
- Legendary Core was the second mod with no fusion levels after
Coolant Leak. - Legendary Core was the only mod that does not provide any mod value in the Mod storage total value.
- Originally given out during Update 12.2 (2014-02-19) to all players who possessed a
Steel Charge Aura mod that was rank 6 or higher as a compensation for the resources players have spent in ranking up Steel Charge, as the subsequent update changed the mod's rank from 10 to 5.

Patch History[]
Hotfix 37.0.2 (2024-10-03)
- Removed the controller binding that applies a Legendary Core to a mod during Fusion to prevent players from accidentally selecting it.
- Now, if you wish to apply a Legendary Core you can manually do so by moving the virtual cursor over the button and selecting. If you accidentally did this since the launch of Koumei & the Five Fates, you can submit a ticket to support.warframe.com.
Hotfix 37.0.1 (2024-10-02)
- Improved the Fusion confirmation popup to make it much more obvious that you are using a Legendary Core.
- This is so that you don’t accidentally consume those precious Legendary Cores unintentionally! If you have since the launch of Koumei & the Five Fates, you can submit a ticket to support.warframe.com.
Hotfix 36.0.2 (2024-06-19)
- Fixed a crash caused by Legendary Core.
Update 18.0 (2015-12-03)
- Added as a Sortie reward.
Hotfix 17.9.2 (2015-10-30)
- Legendary Cores have been distributed to all players that have had the Affinity Amp Aura removed from their inventory.
Hotfix 17.4.1 (2015-09-10)
- Fixed players being able to transmute Legendary Fusion Cores.
Hotfix 12.2.1 (2014-02-20)
- Fixed Legendary Cores not fusing Mods to maximum level in some situations.
- Fixed Legendary Cores being consumed by Auto Fusion.
Update 12.2 (2014-02-19)
- Introduced
- After a lot of observation and discussion, we realized we have to change the Steel Charge Aura back to a maximum of 5 ranks. The additional mod capacity set a new precedent and was just too much. At 10 ranks, Steel Charge allowed for some fun new builds, but it also meant that the additional slots would always have to be considered when balancing other mods and Auras.
The damage bonus from Steel Charge is not a problem and is very much intended, so the damage bonus at 5 ranks will be changed so that it as similar to the bonus at 10 ranks.
As compensation to all of you who worked hard to rank up a Steel Charge, anyone who has a Steel Charge above rank 5 will receive two Legendary Cores, the first of their kind. These Legendary Cores instantly max any mod with 0 credit cost.
- Summary:
- Maximum rank reduced to 5 (down from 10)
- Melee damage bonus remains similar.
- Players who have a rank 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 Steel Charge will receive 2 Legendary Cores.

Finally got my first one!
1.4k hours later
What is even the point of a legendary core anymore, if you're relatively new in the game, it might hold some value to maybe max a mod you, or else sell it for plat, which is way more lucrative, something that a veteran player might be tempted to do since they'd have enough to just max out any mod, the cost to benefit ratio here is bizarre, im in the game for over 1500 hrs and at this point, i've brainwashed myself that, im never gonna have it, if i did, im selling it first thing after getting it.
I've got it in my, like, 10th sortie when i was about 7 MR. I've used it to up serration to the max rank and i've never got it again
bruh
About 2500h and i got only one.
So, that rare heh !
I had 7 sold 2 now got 5... and i have 2.6k hours in game.
I guess there are rare then.
Just got this on my first ever sortie
Why do people think everybody is lying? literally got it on my second sortie
You said first???
No i said first
Everybody here is anonymous, you all sound insane
(yes i know that you can see the ip but its funnier)
Sortie never gives me this in my life :(
I'm now Legendary rank 3, put thousands of hours in this game. I've only got it *once* lol.
Dang
Liar, you get a Legendary core from every legendary rank + mastery rank 30
He probably just means from sorties, no need to be so agressive
Why is this so rare? Should maybe be like 1% drop rate for its value.
Thats crazy
Crazy ?
I was crazy once.
i hav mentle illinois
Hey guys quick question, when did DE gift a legendary core? i have one and sure as hell never got it from a sortie, was the steel path update?
Me too, but I think it was before Steel Path update.
Legendary Rank gives it as well
Bro i just got one from archon hunt
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaa
:/
Am i the only one who thinks this 1 million tax defeats the purpose of this thing in case someone is thinking of buying it? Am i rly supposed to use it myself? i dont want to, i have enough endo and credits. I only want the plat from selling it.
Why would 1m tax defeat the purpose when it is still a net gain in credits spent and it saves over 40K endo too. Even if the trade tax was the same as ranking a primed mod from 0 to 10 it would still save the endo.
U not reading bro...he saying from the sale for plat ..it definately is a deterance
Just looking at it 1916544 credits and 39680 endo to max my sacrificial steel mod.
So with a core i would save 100% of the endo and a bit under 50% of the credits.
I would agree that this dont seam like rivens where they can go for 10k plat or some shit. but not everything has to be a money maker. this seams more like yea you can sell but you could also just make a maxed good mod to bring up your game. less good for the mad lads out there. but not to bad if your lucky and get one early into your warframe life.
Imagine not having millions of credits ,PF,or even as bad as index
Or no long ago railjack giving 100k for 3min missions and so much ENDO to swim
I just got one in Sortie after 7 years. Now what? I already maxed all my mods
Trade em lol
I'll give you like 10 plat for it, take it or leave it.
@9/15/2022 i will def leave it. Since nobody would pay a Legendary rarity item just for 10 plat lol
whoosh
Got my first ever from a sortie I did at the last minute, epic gamer moment
Exact same thing happened to me just now.
Finally got one.
Poggie woggies
Easier to just grind ducats, sell prime mods and buy Ayatan sculptures. This thing is too rare to be sought after.
That doesn't justify vandalizing the wiki https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Sortie/SeasonRewards?diff=2258044&oldid=2248305 Just a friendly warning for the future, thanks for understanding.
Nice
Noice
I could crap on your friendly warnings.
Just got one from a sortie, fuck Ambulas
+1
@Pantsmode - not sure "Galvanised mods" should be mentioned in their own right - in terms of endo consumption they're just a subset of "Rare" mods with max rank 10 that result in the same saving of 30k endo, which is 75% efficiency compared to Legendary/Umbra mods - quite a bit off "most efficient". Rare mods (that happen to include Galvanised) can be mentioned as "2nd most efficient", as 75% efficiency is far from "most efficient".
I had to get to rank legendary 1 to see one of these ....
Can you this away?
Sry i forgot what was supposed to be in between "you" and "this", maybe give or throw?
You can trade this but i do not think u can throw it away, its legendary rarity so takes 1 mil credits to trade
Thx
Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants, you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want him to do you so much you could do anything?
