- This mod can be acquired by attaining the rank of Tempest in Conclave and spending
25,000 to purchase. - Beginning in Series 3, this augment can be purchased as a Nightwave Cred Offering for

Its...OK. Regular prism seems to do more widespread and simply more damage.
Don't bother with this mod. I've tested this mod, and I've consistently been getting less KPS with this mod than without it.
Duration is important for Prism Guard because it allows it to ramp up more damage. Changing duration to 4s makes it do even less damage.
Also, why would you want the prism to follow you? Without this mod, you can throw the prism into a group of enemies, then forget it and leave while the prism murders everyone. Using Prism Guard loses out on this benefit.
In all, Prism Guard isn't worth a mod slot.
This mod is busted for speed clearing exterminates

The mod is actually goated.
I can't be the only one who dislikes this augment. It follows you around sure, cool. But that's it for losing 2/3rds of your duration, which scales the longer it stays out. It also has a high range already and I have no issue hitting an entire room with the normal version.
I guess it's okay for lower level, but this gets a nope from me.

Poor design, drain + durability.
Drain already function as duration most of the time. I don't know why they did not touch it.
With DE finally starting to touch up on "lower popularity/performing" augments... hopefully this will get a cast speed or duration change this year.
(Also it's a bit strange that both the regular & augmented versions of this ability has both a max duration AND a drain, every other ability got one or the other. Xaku shipped with a 4th like this originally but it got changed)
Ya. its odd the weapon augment from conclave got a "PVE only" buff...but not the frame augments.
I understand not wanting to just buff the mods for conclaves fragile ballance. but having a "increased cast speed in PVE" would def help mods like this.
Just like how double tap has "stacks in pve" on it.
High duration, Natural Talent, some efficiency, some strength. This thing SHREDS if you build Mirage right. By which I mean, not even Steel Path lives.
I think the augment could use a duration buff (maybe 6 seconds instead of 4), but in all honesty, this is my favorite Mirage augment to use regardless.
Is there any other nightwave mods I should look out for that could be a pain to farm otherwise?
On top of all the problems that come with the laughable duration, sometimes the prism gets stuck on a wall after you turn a corner/go through a doorway.

With a duration of 4 and a cast time of 2 this skill is the definition of playing with your balls for a 2 second pump and dump. This is DE's way of insulting it's players. Really needs either an instant 1 handed cast or a base duration of about 15 seconds. I'm talking about pve.
Would have its uses with either a much shorter cast time or a much longer base duration. The worst thing about some of these dumb useless mods is that they aren't unsalvageable with some minor changes, but DE insists on letting them rot as good ideas with abysmal execution.
Works nicely if you can move quickly and doubly so if you're focusing on a melee build. The 4s is a bit weird though, but at least the energy cost is the same.
giving it a 4s time limit makes it so Fcking useless should be 12s base at least!

Useless mod.
Even with 300% ability duration, the orb only last 12 sec. The prism animation takes like 2 sec to cast, without naturel talent. On top of that you sacrifice tons slots for duration instead of ability range/strength.
DE is so afraid of anything becoming overpower, so they kept releasing garbage as safe guard. The base duration need to be at least 75% of orginal to be even remotely useful.

I agree with OP. This mod is so hard to work around. The energy drain is way too much to consistently keep up, you sacrifice large amounts of range and strength to make the prism last at least longer than you can blink, and you need to throw on cast speed mods or most of your time will be stuck recasting this instead of moving forward. Abysmal mod. I thought it'd be fun/useful to use to run through lith fissures but no, it's really just this terrible. Either the duration would need to be increased or at least make it so the prism is a one-cast instead of continuing to drain your energy while it's up.
Agree with OP. This mod isn't remotely worth using with it's current blink-and-you-miss-it duration, duration mods be damned. It's strictly a downgrade and it using to be a PvP mod is absolutely no excuse.
Prism as an "ultimate" ability in general needs some work, to be honest, but Prism Guard in particular is terrible.
8 seconds at least would be workable, that'd be 12 seconds with 150% duration, then you can still get some range and strength. With 4 seconds its only use would be low tier stuff and then Explosive Legerdemain shits all over it.
