Narmer is a Faction introduced in The New War quest, ruled by Ballas after Erra's Sentients took over the Origin System by brainwashing its inhabitants into blind subservience. Individuals under Narmer control are identified by golden Narmer Veils masking their faces, which produce a red hallucinogenic mist that brainwashes its victims, leading them to mindlessly chant "All as one."
Similarly to the Corrupted, Narmer's troops consist entirely of brainwashed Grineer and Corpus.
All Narmer, regardless of their former faction, take increased damage from Slash and
Toxin, but resist
Magnetic.
Overview[]
While the concept of Narmer is almost omnipresent throughout the Origin System, thanks to the actions of Erra and Ballas, its core definition remains shrouded in obfuscation. Narmer could be the name of the new Sentient Empire, but there are elements of its structure that seem more in line with a religious movement, such as the Narmer Deacons and Archons. The members of Narmer treat the subject with extreme reverence, and refer to Narmer as either a philosophy, religion, empire, or all three at once.
Beliefs[]
Narmer as a whole views Tau as a sacred place.
Technology[]

A Narmer All-Seeing Eye
Narmer appears to use a marriage of both Sentient and Orokin technology. Supplies, weapons, equipment, and even the dropships used by Narmer forces are all adorned with red Sentient-themed holograms and golden accents. Their more advanced tech, such as their propaganda drones and the weapons used by the Archons, display a more Sentient-like nature with the use of organic curves and flesh-like innards.
Narmer also employs the use of large, circular, mirror-like constructs called All-Seeing Eyes. These constructs can be found in highly populated areas, such as Cetus and Fortuna, and may be used in facilitating the control of Narmer Veils. The eyes also appear to be filled with Kuva, and miniaturized versions can be seen built within the Veils themselves.[1]
Lore & History[]
The New War[]

Subjugated Grineer soldiers kneeling before a Narmer monument
Despite the efforts of the Tenno-Grineer-Corpus alliance to repel the Sentient invasion, Ballas banishes both the Operator and the Lotus into a Void portal. Without their presence, the Sentients led by Erra crush the alliance and are easily able to take over the Origin System. They install Narmer Veils onto subjects to brainwash them and subjugate loyalty to Narmer while defaming the Tenno, with Narmer Deacons constantly keeping watch and are able to remotely detonate the Veils and kill its wearer should they detect any resistance. Furthermore, Erra's Archons, known as Nira, Boreal, and Amar, served to instill fear in dissidents and ensure loyalty throughout the system. However, a few individuals such as Little Duck and Nora Night have managed to evade capture.
After an uneasy alliance between the Drifter and Hunhow to save the Operator and the Lotus and the subsequent deaths of two Archons to achieve this goal, the empire began to disintegrate as Ballas recalled all fleets to the Sentient mothership Praghasa to devour the sun, enraged at the Tenno's return and scheming to sacrifice the Origin System and his Narmer empire to escape to the Tau System. Erra, realizing Ballas also intends to doom the Sentients, defects and sacrifices himself to guide the Tenno to the third and final Archon hoping it may fully restore the Lotus. After the final confrontation between the Drifter/Operator and the Lotus against Ballas and his subsequent death, the Narmer Empire became heavily destabilized with their leader effectively becoming a martyr and creating a power vacuum that the loyalists scramble to fill, allowing other factions of the Origin System to slowly recover.
Following The New War, remnants of Narmer remain active in the post-war ravaged Plains of Eidolon and Orb Vallis, with both Konzu and Eudico suggesting that someone else is pulling the strings.
Veilbreaker[]
A Murex emerges near Deimos revealing that Narmer continues their machinations of enslaving the Origin System. The Archons have been revived, with Erra himself being transformed into one and now serves as their leader under the name Pazuul.
Kahl-175, a Grineer soldier that fought in The New War, breaks free from his Narmer Veil. He fights alongside the Tenno to free his brothers from Narmer oppression.
Archon Hunts[]
Kahl, Daughter, and Chipper provide the Tenno with information on the Archon's locations, prompting the Tenno to go out and hunt them down. During these missions, the Lotus discovers that Pazuul is harvesting massive amounts of resources for some unknown creation.
Enemies[]
The majority of Narmer's forces consist of subjugated units from other factions, largely being the Grineer and
Corpus.

Other[]
- Main article: Narmer Deacon
Narmer Deacons are roving sentries of Narmer, serving as peacekeepers during The New War.
For most of the quest, they cannot be harmed and force stealth gameplay. Should the player get caught, the Deacon will weaken them with attacks and then force a Narmer Veil onto them; when the Drifter infiltrates the Orb Vallis spaceport while resisting the influence of a Veil, the Deacon will instead remotely detonate the Veil. They appear in combat during the final battle against Ballas where they are vulnerable to attack.
They appear again as enemies in Archon Hunts and Break Narmer missions.
Notable Members[]
- Ballas (former leader, deceased, killed by the Lotus)
- Erra (former second-in-command, presumably deceased)
- Ka-Nuteru (Disciple, deceased, killed by the Stalker)
- Pazuul (current leader, transformed from Erra's corpse by unknown means)
- Archons (former high-ranking Sentients that have been fused with Warframes)
Notes[]

A supercharged Narmer crewman
- Faction Damage Mods of other enemy types have no effect on their Narmer counterparts. For example,
Bane of Grineer does not increase damage dealt to a Narmer Lancer.
- Some Narmer units may become "supercharged", with their Veils allowing them to release a large and heavily damaging energy bolt.
Trivia[]
- Narmer is name of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, who conquered Lower Egypt and unified it with Upper Egypt.
- During The New War Quest, the Veiled Solaris sing the song For Narmer, a hymn that praises Ballas and utter subordination to him.

What a waste of opportunity, it feels like such an unfinished after thought with hardly any impact at all.
We already defeated Ballas and even wiped most of their forces out of reality to the point where almost nobody talks about them anymore, just what even is left.
Following The New War, remnants of Narmer remain active in the post-war ravaged Plains of Eidolon and Orb Vallis, with both Konzu and Eudico suggesting that someone else is pulling the strings. maybe this will be further expanded on in future updates or just more narmer bounties...
New War in general was a huge disappointment. The first 20 minutes of the quest and trailer has you looking forward to finally fighting sentients as a full new faction. Instead we got to fight Grineer and Corpus with a new name slapped on them, no new tilesets, and one of the most drawn out and tiresome quests in the game (yaay lets hunt and Archon, yaaay now lets do that 2 more times).
To add insult to injury they kill off Space Dad.
Honestly think the next "Nemesis System" enemy should be from the Narmer faction for a few reasons.
A- Give an avenue to characterize a faction that, at the moment, just kinda exists.
B- Although they aren't as major of a faction as the infested, I don't see any logical reason the infested would bother with using kuva for immortality when they're already of one mind and flesh.
C-With the Kuva Liches being red, the Sisters of Parvos being blue, the yellow/gold color of Narmer would complete the primary colors.
I could see the Narmer Liches giving Narmer versions of Tenno weapons, given that Narmer is built upon Orokin ideals (and Tenno gear is all seemingly just bootleg Orokin merch). Either that or variants of the Sentient faction weapons, although I don't think there are enough of those that actually need any sort of upgrade.
OH my lord I love that idea. I've been wanting a Daikyu prime for so long but if they were to make narmer verison of kuva weapons with instead of bonus element have them have some other mechanics.
The problem with the idea is the faction itself, Narmer are scarce and scattered hence they cannot gain more power as all 3 factions are leading Narmer purge with Tenno as unofficial spearhead while Corpus and Grineer are actively purge Narmer out of existence. Although Pazuul still able to take the reins, he still unable to expand further as their forces are thinned out one by one.
"bootleg Orokin merch"... lol.
I feel sad that there is no codex entry for the newly added Narumel unit. There's not even an entry for Alcon!
Wonder if we'll ever see those black and yellow Narmer Grineer that were found dead in the Uranus mission and the beginning of Kahl's Veilbreaker part sometime alive. The corpses don't seem to wear veils, so perhaps they were Grineer bred and educated to be loyal to Narmer by default. A combination of those Grineer together with Narmer Corpus robotics would have been a fun combo to fight. Wonder what gun they would wield. Wonder if Kahl would deem them to be brothers.
Will DE release Bane of Narmer with Veilbreaker? since they do not take any faction damage and we gotta hunt down those archons.
So they all wear fancy helmets and have robo pitched voices?
Were facing an army of Daft Punk!
I suddenly want to replay The New War with Tron Legacy OST...
The Veils remind me of the devices the Corrupted wear. Perhaps they function in the same way ?
I didn't quite understand the timey-wimey-alternate-universey thing in the Quest, but perhaps the Corrupted are what Narmer was/will become/is ?
I think its a variant of the orokin tower control devices. Orokin towers capture intruders and enslave them with the control devices but strip the recipient of all emotion. The narmer devices probably work similarly, but use a substance, (appearing to be powdered kuva) to transmit Ballas' influence directly and allow the enslaved to "function" while being obedient.
Ballas being an Orokin, and one who developed technology like the sentients themselves, likely had access to the means of developing them.
The lore is such a mess and the characters in the quests are so ridiculous looking. The Drifter was cool at least. Glad to get rid of my operator tween.
Ka-Nutella
Does Bane of Corpus/Grineer work on Narmer units? Or, like Corrupted, don't?
Since it appears in the codex as a seperate faction, im guessing it does not, however i might test this later in the simulacrum and come back to you
Ok, bane mods do NOT work on narmer units. we'll have to wait for bane of narmer (probably never coming out, like bane of sentients)
On the subject, any idea whether narmer enemies deal tau damage or not?
The sacrificial mods are basically bane of sentients (tau damage is damage to sentients and works just like a bane mod/smite mod) sadly only for melee and have the umbra polarity
Again it's interesting to see fanboys otakus making up theories in place of DE lol... also why no fanboys go make videos singing the remix song? lol
Lol so quirky lol
What are you even talking about
Wait, who is Ka-Nuteru? I don't think I saw a single mention of them.
The Veiled Grineer during the mission where you go and find Hunhow in The New War.
They died off screen before you met them, so the only mention of them was via transmission
(Personal opinion, not actually a historian)
For those confused about what Narmer actually is, the hint is in the name.
As it says in the Trivia section, IRL Narmer was a Pharao, a king of ancient Egypt, during the early period of Egyptian history. Possibly the first to rule over a united Upper and Lower Egypt, and might have been the founder of the first dynasty.
The ancient Egyptians believed their kings to be representatives of the gods, if not living gods themselves. This was expressed by having up to five different names, their birth name plus four others representing various aspects of their divine power. The most important one being the Horus name, which identified them as a representative of the falcon god. In the case of Pharao Narmer, his horus name is the only one we know.
The analogue in christianity would be the Pope, whose name as an ordinary citizen is Jorge Mario Bergoglio, but as a representative of god and head of the catholic church, he's Pope Francis.
So, long story short, Narmer is basically Ballas, being worshipped as a living god.
I thought Narmer was just some made up word in the Tenno languague XD
Also very apt since Ballas' headdress looks very Egyptian-inspired.
And the orbs of red (Kuva?) look like the Eye of Ra minus the serpent wrapped around it.
So who leads the narmer now that Ballas and Erra are gone?
Currently no one. That's one of the big things they seem to be building up to since it's now a free-for-all for anyone to take control if they're strong enough. My big question is what'll happen to the Sentient forces; I'm assuming they're all going to bail and just leave a mixed group of the biological members behind. Whether or not that'll include the Deacons (which seem to be rather important for preventing early escapes), I have no idea.
Wasn't it mentioned at the end of The New War that they'd basically just be scattered bands attempting to rebuild or revolt or something like that? Trying to get revenge and stuff.
And so, who is the disciple Ka-Nuteru? Corrupted kuva lich or another faceless grineer commander?
While the concept of Narmer is almost omnipresent throughout the Sol System thanks to the actions of Erra and Ballas, its core definition remains shrouded in obfuscation. While Narmer could be the name of the new Sentient Empire, there are elements of its structure that seem more in line with a religious movement, such as the Narmer Deacons and Archons. The members of Narmer treat the subject with extreme reverence, and refer to Narmer as either a philosophy, religion, empire, or all three at once.
So this begs the question: What exactly is Narmer?
Probably, theocratic empire
In my clan, we came to the conclusion that Narmer could very well be an entity formed from the veiled. In the song For Narmer the solaris mention both Ballas and Narmer, it does look like they are distinct and not just two names for Ballas. Also, they sing "we're all One", which really seems to point to a collective entity. The veils were shown to overwrite memories and those corrupted masks completely erase personnality (and cover more of the face), so it is technologically feasible to do it, even with downgraded orokin tech. The overwritten memories were acting slowly, at least for the drifter, so it might take a while to be fully assimilated but it would suit ballas to proceed this way. We only have this one song supporting this idea but we found nothing to contradict it and there are few elements so why not take Narmer as a hivemind.
Perhaps, all good answers, but until we have a definitive answer, I am hesitant to edit the wiki to suit one definition.
Ah yes, i'm not asking to edit the wiki this is just speculation, i just wanted curious people to find it written somewhere for them to ponder and a comment is good, we will probably learn more about narmer later.
This might be the emblem of the Narmer empire. Just wanted to point this out.
One main-character-Tenno got banished and the solar system fell to one cunning motherfucker and his goons.
Seriously, The Origin system deserved to get obliterated.
We arnt the only Tenno, just the main character. As evidenced by the dead Rhino with the Cornith Prime in litterally the first mission of this quest.
Then Ballas should have stabbed n throw millions of tenno into the wormhole which he magically able to open.
I can think of two possibilities though both can be boiled down to mostly "you are the main character."
First Possibility: Main character being the one that accepted the Man in the Wall's help is some kind of conduit so when they were banished it cut of void powers for all other tenno or also banished them. This could be a "you are that important" or *any* tenno being thus banished would have severed the connection.
Second Possibility: By being banished the Drifter's reality took hold. Since you were not the only tenno, main plot points still occurred, meaning another tenno ended up showing up and being banished. Ad Infinitum until a timeline where *all* tenno were never released from the void. The paradox that each of us interact with are separate possibilities where we as the drifter bring back the version the operator exists in. Why that moment? Because a powerful entity, the Man in the Wall foresaw if that paradox specifically occurs he could escape the void prison.
I imagine there are fewer Tenno in the system than actual players, and also Ballas could have hunted most of them down and thrown them in the same way; he might also not have needed to do it himself because he had those Deacons and the Veils and sentients etc etc
