Chimera Prologue is a short main Quest, released in Update 23.10 (2018-10-12), and serves as the first act of the Prelude to War. It explores the fate of Ballas after the events of The Sacrifice, foreshadowing Natah's plan to create Amalgams.
Synopsis[]
The Man in The Wall manifests itself in the Orbiter's Personal Quarters, luring the Tenno towards the Lotus' helmet, dropped during the events of Apostasy Prologue. When the Tenno touches the helmet, they are transported to Lua, where they begin to follow The Man in The Wall. The Man in The Wall leads the Tenno through the Reservoir, and into the Chamber of the Lotus. A portal at the end of the room transports the Tenno into a Sentient chamber that seems to imprison Ballas, now malformed with Sentient growth. Cursing the Lotus for allegedly deceiving him, Ballas discreetly constructs the "Sentient Slayer" away from what he claims to be Lotus' watchful eye. The Tenno grasps the image of the legendary Paracesis , learning its blueprint in the process. — The New War is coming.
Walkthrough[]
This quest can be accessed directly from the Codex as a chapter of The New War quests, after completing The Sacrifice.
The Orbiter: Personal Quarters[]
In the Orbiter's Personal Quarters, The Man in The Wall sits on the plinth that carries the Lotus' headgear, donning it with a sinister laughter before vanishing and returning the helmet. Approaching the headgear and touching it will transport the Tenno to Lua.
Lua: The Reservoir[]
After loading in, the player will be dropped onto Lua. They must follow The Man in The Wall, who continues to wear the Lotus' headgear. Three times during the chase, The Man in The Wall will trap the Tenno inside of a barrier, forcing them to fight shadow-like reflections of the Lotus.
The Tenno are lead through the Reservoir and into the Chamber of the Lotus, where they encountered the Lotus and Ballas during Apostasy Prologue. At the end of the chamber is a portal that the Tenno must enter.
The Sentient Chamber[]
The portal takes the Tenno to a chamber of Sentient design. In this sequence, the player will no longer have control over their character, instead using the fire button (LMB ) to Void Sling to certain spots indicated by a glowing light.
At the end of the chamber, the Tenno spots Ballas, now Sentient-turned, lamenting the loss of his narcissistically beautiful Orokin body and curses the Lotus for her deception. Ballas' eye suddenly glows, which he implies to be the Lotus' vision. The player must stay out of Ballas' sight by using numerous Void Dash points around the room. If he catches a glimpse of the player, a bar at the top center of the screen will decrease. If the bar empties, he will spot the player and the mission will fail.
As Ballas rambles, several metal fragments fall in place in the middle of the room. Upon realizing the presence of the "devil", the pieces come together to form a sword and Ballas instructs the player to take the "Sentient Slayer" for their upcoming war, before looking away. As the Tenno dashes and grips the sword, Ballas abruptly turns to face them and the Lotus' whisper calling for the Tenno can be heard.
Epilogue[]
The Operator finds themselves back on the Orbiter as if everything they had experienced was nothing but a vision. They find themselves armed with the blueprint for the Paracesis.
Completing this quest is also a prerequisite to combating the Ropalolyst on its Assassination node: The Ropalolyst, Jupiter. An Orbiter Decoration for the Paracesis Sheath can also be bought from Cephalon Simaris for 50,000 after completing this quest.

Very bugged. It said I failed the mission (even though I didn't), but it at least it gave me the blueprint and completed the quest, so . . . ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tuseday for this game
Currently bugged for a lot of people,
Why is this quest so terribly broken?!
I beat it, and it doesn't give me the scene where I appear in my room in operator form and get the blueprint. I relog only for it to give me that scene, and then suddenly I'm back in my warframe... stuck crouched and slightly in the ground, and moving around as if I'm in operator form. I turn around and there's my warframe standing there, me not inside it. I try to enter my warframe and it doesn't work. I go back to the back of the ship and enter the operator chair, and it shows my warframe sitting there as if it is my operator, only... my head spins 180 degrees around?
It ended up fixing itself after I relogged a second time. This nonsense really should not happen when DE has sent out countless patches and new quest updates after this one. They should be fixing what is broken before uploading new content.
Lol after i finish TNW. Maybe this is old ballas, dead or something at some points after this. And Ballas in TNW is mimic.
Why did Ballas give us the Paracesis in the first place...? they took a massive U-turn on this character and wasted Erra completely.

"The Man in The Wall manifests itself in the Orbiter's Personal Quarters, luring the Tenno towards the Lotus' helmet." Someone needs to inform DE that they have an error in their subtitling then, because the voice that is doing the "luring" is credited as "Lotus." (i.e. "Lotus: Tenno ... Tenno ... Tenno ..." not "Man In The Wall: Tenno ... Tenno ... Tenno ...").
Being that following the The Sacrifice the Operator and the doppelgänger Operator are on conversational speaking terms, then the "Man In the Wall" would have to be NOT that (because it wouldn't have to pretend to be the Lotus and whisper "Tenno" as a disembodied voice to lure the Operator to the Lotus' head/helmet, when it can now just say, "Hey Kiddo, there something going on with the Lotus cap, go look into it."), and it's NOT the Lotus, and it's NOT the manifestation of a schism split from Rells psyche (because that was already destroyed/banished at the conclusion of Chains Of Harrow quest, while being about as close as "The Man In The Wall" ever came to actually "existing" within the "Tennoverse"), unless the Wiki contributors have just said to hell with it, anything that's undecided is "The Man In The Wall."
Wait .. what do I mean by "unless?" That's just how it is. Everything can be "The Man In The Wall," because "there is no man in the wall."
Which makes the Warframe Wiki like "The Wiki In The Wall." It misinforms its own function, while abandoning source citations.
I know that is true, because The Man In The Wall said so.
You literally see The Man in the Wall when approaching the Lotus helmet so that sentence is not a stretch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZumIH8c8Vug
Hmmm ...
Well ...
I'm still skeptical
Man, im not gonna be a cunt to you. But you will learn plenty about the Man in the World once you play the New War. Hope you return to this Section and talk more about it.
Huh.
I wonder who "you" is.

There is no blueprint for sheath decoration from Simaris. Did I miss something or was it removed?
It should be at the very bottom of the offerings. Bought it last night on PC.
Come on DE I cant play Steel Path if I dont finish this Quest I really dont want to do it because its not replayable anymore. Look at Vor's Prize. People begging you to make it replayable but you just keep refusing
This quest makes me hype to play warframe more :)
Good job DE
Another moronic mission. Go to your personal quarter - Got in, there is the helmet of lotus, with a mark on that and that's all, no, nothing to press, examine or see here, warframe questing drives me nuts! Somebody should fire those guys who were working on the usability.
FU Warframe Game Designer, after 30 min reading online and searching for a solution I restarted the game and "The Man in the Wall showed up" :/
WE WILL NEVER EVER PLAY THIS QUEST AGAIN
DO NOT FINISH DO NOT FINISH IT PARACESIS ISNOT WORTH I
Why though. It's not even a quest so much as a slightly interactive expository cutscene with a free sentient-killer weapon at the end.
Free rank 40 slash based anti sentient weapon
Why are you referring to the Man in the Wall as 'they' when he's clearly the MAN in the wall?
Because female operators are a thing and it will change form and voice to match them when it appears before them.
Basically this thing is an eldritch intelligence that may or may not have existed before the known universe and is so far removed from human form and thought that "man" in the wall is something of a deliberate misnomer we chose for it in a futile effort to apply some modicum of comprehensibility to this *thing* we were never meant as humans to encounter and are progressively suffering physically and psychologically for having done just that.
Reminder that commas and grammar exist, u should try it.
Reminder that you exists, you should try it
Tyrannosaurus rekt
I just walked into my Personal Quarters, follow the man on the wall to the white portal and got stuck in a white screen, had to abort the mission and redo everything 3 times, now I'm relogin and trying for the fourth time....
I can't progress either due to this bug. Can't progress in reputations due to bugs. Can't do anything in this game because they wanted to rush out patch after patch after patch of unfinished content.
It seems i am not only one who has encountered this white screen problem.
So I tried again with different weapons and a different warframe and I waited for all of the dialogue and animations to play before proceeding. It worked. The bug is kinda weird not sure how to replicate
Rap Tap Tap! You guys stuck on the transmission link FOREVER!
Saturday morning I came home after a night out, started the game to get my daily reward walked into my Personal Quarters and got an heart attack!
MITW be spoopin
The operator doesn’t look half bad with Natah’s headgear on...
“Wow, changing the FIRE button into a ‘Void Dash’ is pretty incredible sounding. Of course the mechanic of a ‘Void Dash’ NOT being used at all (never mind how it has been changed in it’s triggering mechanism) doesn’t really matter. If it is not known, just call it something that already is.
If you can’t do that, then pretend it is not there at all, or just say that ‘the game’ just does something.
The voice that calls in a whisper from the helmet, which is subtitled ‘Lotus’ whispering ‘Tenno,’ should not be mentioned, as it disagrees with what has been decided about the Lotus (by the wiki).
And so while the Ballas Chimera is cursing Natah for stealing his death and forcing a life that he despises living upon him, it is better to say that it is ‘The Lotus,’ (since if it was ‘The Lotus’ who was actually guiding the way through the ‘Quest,’ it would compel the wiki to attribute the ‘light’ which signals a direction to ‘Void Dash’ towards, in order to evade being seen by the hateful and hated eye of Natah which has been fused into the Balls Chimera, and compel some even more absurd invention, like a ‘Woman in The Wall’).
Naturally that is the way by which the wiki works, by letting undecidables fall into the nearest thing that is convenient and has already been decided somewhere previously.
Naturally that lack of integrity is where the wiki fails, and is naw a matter of major concern to ‘DE,’ in general, which has fallen to ‘Space Mom’ to have to deal with in the arena of public relations.
Of course that concern has emerged out of plans for launching a next ‘major overhaul,’ that is once again reintroducing Warframe In a similar way to the launch of an entire New Game, and is largely dedicated to improving cohesion and the ‘new player experience.’
The age-old common policy of not interfering with a ‘fandom’ created wiki, (interpreted by the ‘fandom’ as approval of the ‘content,’ when combined with a lack of any ‘official’ guide, manual or reference, making a recommendation of the wiki as a resource necessary), has made the wiki into a major liability.
The lack of any oversight or accountability for the ‘content’ only makes the problems which that content generates all the more damning to the whole of the wiki.”
...*what*?
Drugs
Not "what", he was just calling out of its not exactly the Man in the Wall who was helping us with that Quest, but the Lotus Part of Natah as a last act to make the Player aware of what is happening.
Replayable please?
Is this called Chimera Prologue because of how Ballas was turned into a sentient and thus, became a hybrid-like creature and a “freak of nature”?
most probably yes
This quest is impossible to find in the game itself without wiki or nagging other players... and then DE locks more stuff behind it... come on
impossible? lol... methinks you simply never bothered playing actual contetn smh
It’s only hard to find because the game doesn’t acknowledge you having completed the quest immediately upon returning from it, open up a mission, back out, and now Wallie should be in your room
I was prompted with a "What took you so long kiddo." Similar to that of the war within if you chose to drink the kuva. I then Walked back to where my operator was, and he wasnt in the transference room. So I went to the personal quarters, and there he was, wearing Mommy Lotus' headgear. It was spooky.
i litterally discovered the quest by accident lol
