Duplex Bond is a Companion mod that creates a short-lived duplicate of the companion after 100 Energy is spent, up to 3 times. Enemies killed by these clones have a chance at dropping an Energy Orb.
Stats[]
Rank | Duration | Energy Orb Drop Chance | Cost |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 5s | 8% | 4 |
1 | 10s | 17% | 5 |
2 | 15s | 25% | 6 |
3 | 20s | 33% | 7 |
4 | 25s | 42% | 8 |
5 | 30s | 50% | 9 |
Acquisition[]
The mod can be bought from Son for 20,000 after reaching Rank 3 - Associate with the Entrati.
Notes[]
- Drain-over-time and channeled abilities like
Wisp's
Sol Gate and
Ivara's
Artemis Bow are capable of spawning clones.
- Clones will attack enemies whether or not
Assault Mode is equipped.
- Energy removed by the Energy Drain modifier in Nightmare missions counts towards the energy needed to spawn a companion copy.
- Since clone creation requires Energy spent, this mod cannot be triggered by
Hildryn or
Lavos.
- Clones are completely invulnerable to any form of damage and can only die after their listed lifespan has elapsed since they were created.
- Despite being invincible, enemies will still have their aggro drawn to them and attempt to fight them.
- Cloned Sentinels will float toward enemies rather than sticking to the player, drawing some aggro away from the player as a result.
- Invisibility achieved through Abilities and other manner only affects the main Companion; it does not work on the summoned/spawned clone and they will remain visible to distract enemy fire.
- Since the clones can only use basic attacks, they benefit greatly from claw mods. They can use all the claw mods and deal full damage with them.
- While clones cannot activate any abilities, even passive ones like
Energy Generator, they can still be useful for spreading status, especially if buffed by external sources, such as
Nourish.
- Clones will not benefit from the elemental buff granted by
Momentous Bond nor the Void damage buff from
Astral Bond.
- Clones will not benefit from the elemental buff granted by
- Clones will not benefit from, nor trigger,
Vicious Bond or
Seismic Bond.
- This mod cannot be equipped on Venari.

Is this mod broken? I've been trying to use it but every time I'm playing as client it legitimately never procs despite spamming abilities. Do you have to use 100 in one ability? Or is it cumulative every 100 energy spent total?
It is cumulative 100 total. So casting 2 abilites that cost 50 each would activate it.
If they let me put it on Venari I could get 13 Kavats
How you reach 13? My math aren't mathing
4 Venaris, 4 Smeetas (+1 from Mischief?), 5 Swarm Kavats from Dessication Curse
Do mods like Maul, Bite, Mecha Overdrive and Hunter Synergy work on the clones?
DOES IT HAVE THE MODS EVEN IF IT CAN'T USE THE ABILITY?
I'm wondering if putting Coolant Leak is worth it.
Not telling.
Answer already
In submersible missions your archwing can activate this mod. Also, seems like the page is incorrect about the clones not being able to use vicious bond, because coincidentally whenever i spawn the clones underwater my enemies' armor goes away. All the while my weapons have no corrosive, and your original pet cant be underwater
Nevermind, the clones disappear after two seconds when underwater so its unlikely theyre doing it. I dont know why their orange health bar is disappearing then
When an ancient disruptor kills my energy it activates the mod
Does not help with tandem bond btw in case anybody else thought differently.
Duplex clone spectral colours are determined by the sentinel's energy colour.
The clone's weapon colours i don't know yet from what category are determined.
Does this work as good with efficiency mods?
What i mean is, does 100 energy have to be spent to spawn a clone, or if i have 150% efficiency, does that mean 50 energy spent (which was 100) will also spawn a clone? Or is it simply that 100 energy has to be spent no matter what?
This would mean efficiency sucks for this bond mod.
100 no matter what, and you're correct, efficiency is not useful when using this mod.
Also for the other part, the clones will drop energy orbs quite frequently.
Another win for an equilibrium dispenser/orb-generator build.
Outside Verglas, what companion or weapon companion can effectively kill in SP, to get the Energy Orbs chance?
Deconstructor / mecha kubrows / hounds , theres a list
A well build vulklok can lay down the pain and the clones help the fire-rate issues a lot. SP is still pushing it for most companion damage tho DE long ago determined that companions should not be good enough for "afk"/passive gameplay. They often break that by being De but it's still the go-to standard of pet-balancing.
I like how sometimes the Sentinel copies suddenly flies out to the nearest enemy to shoot them pointblank lmao
Clones for Nautilus with the new Dragondance skin don't inherit energy colour despite the Hotfix in November.
Probably a bug, but Lavos and Hildryn can definitely spawn clones
SICK!
Both Lavos and Hildryn have hidden, constantly draining energy pools - it's how the game allows them to pick up energy orbs. But it looks like someone at DE forgot to code some exceptions for Duplex....
I need to know if Synth Deconstruct works with them or not
Doesn't
Passive skills also don't work so not even Fired Up works which sucks.
Does umbra casting abilities (in autonomous mode) count for this mod?
No
I just wish it could be put on Venari too... Not because this mod by itself is useful in any way(clones don't use innate abilities anyway, nor they really deal much damage either), but because I want my Khora to be the ultimate cat lady with a total of 6 cats running around! :(
SAME!!!
Every now and then I still do the Spector Khora, and tell it to stay in one spot so I can have one extra Venari
In reality, there could be 10 cats. XD Remember that the mod gives you 3 clones + the original pet, so there would be 4 venaris,
4 kavat companions and if you equip the inaros ability with the increase mod it would be another 2 cats, it would be great if it could be done but it is something that would be quite op although the clones do not hurt if they generate a lot of aggression doing so 8 cats help you a lot with tanking
Can anyone verify if these drop a large energy orb (50) or a small one (25)?
25
The clones don't benefit from Mecha Overdrive (for Kubrows) and I'd assume that means Hunter Synergy (for Beasts) also doesn't work. With this, they've got all of the bases covered to keep Kubrows behind the other companions:
- Kubrow clones (Duplex Bond) can't benefit from the only effect that gives Kubrows usable status chance (Mecha Overdrive) and thus a chance of dealing meaningful damage.
- Their mod for spreading AOE damage with melee attacks (Seismic Bond) doesn't proc statuses or Vicious Bond, and the mod that allows statuses with Seismic Bond (Manifold Bond) is Robotic exclusive.
- They don't have access to Swipe like Kavats to enable true AOE attacks that trigger status effects and Vicious Bond, with their closest equivalent being Hunt, which is weaker than a normal attack, hits less area, has a 10 second cooldown, and isn't usable by Duplex Bond clones like Swipe is.
All in all this means Kubrows can only ever meaningfully attack exactly 1 enemy at a time, and that they're the only companion type to have this level of restriction. Seemingly without any form of compensating benefit.
Works very well on Voruna if you spam her 4th ability, since cancelling the ability refunds your energy and still counts towards Duplex Bond.
As a Voruna main. This is really useful information!
I somehow spawned 2 clones as Hildryn, no idea how though. Couldn't replicate it, maybe a bug?
Had the same thing happen, I'm assuming it might be some funky coding that makes it look like a bug, since Hildryn and Lavos do actually have a default energy pool, it's just hidden and insta drained before mission start. And, while technically they don't use energy for their abilities, it's still counting some sort of invisible amount of "energy" used on using an ability as either.
