I love polearms in the game and this one is...fine. The special mod for it is pretty much required to get steel path level damage out of it because the innate damage is too low without it. And with that mod you need to create a build that can combo up fast and allow you to heavy attack, otherwise what is the point of using that special mod. So at that point you are constrained about what kind of build you can make on this polearm. The only thing that will save it down the road is a 3 dispo riven a year from now. If you really want to use a polearm that configures a few ways for what you want to do, Bo Prime incarnon is great even when not in incarnon form.
Huge correction: Bo Prime is a stave but works alot like a polearm. Regrets.
You don't need a heavy attack build, you can just take advantage of the insane 330% damage increase. Lesion base damage is "above average" 237, and primed pressure point offers 165% damage, giving ~602 damage. 127 at 330% is ~541.8 damage. Then throw on the added random buff rolls, decent base status and crit, and the primary damage being 70% slash, and you have a pretty good weapon with many ways to build.
Honestly having a combo of 8× at 140 hits is pretty easy with the new Galvanized Reflex mod, too, giving you 80 hits in 4 kills. The aura ready steel puts that to 104. If you wanted to lean into that more you could get 134 by also adding corrupt charge, but I really don't think it's needed. Most melee builds use some form of pressure point anyway, so Galvanized Reflex is giving you most of the benifit of the extra power for 1 mod slot.
I think building around the application of 1 extra random staus doesn't make much sense in most cases, and works better as slight boost to staus mods like Condition Overload or Healing return. Or if you want to make weirdly specific build for a loadout that benifits from a viral+slash+heat setup on your melee, and you want to trigger melee influence off of the 1/13 roll chance to shock proc. Maybe for like an Ember ability strength build using her passive where you go just slash + heat and use melee influence to spread heat procs quickly.
Anyway, the weapon has decently solid stats with the augment, and gets 2 nice gimmicks to give it a unique feeling. I think that's fine
Could someone please test wheter the 6 stacks of melee afflictions are applied before or after the random proc of this mod gets applied?
Seems like it would synergize very well with discipline merit.
