Malice is one of Shadow Stalker's acolytes, first introduced during Operation: Shadow Debt. He takes the form of
Frost with a Prime Skin, minus his signature shoulder armor, with Stalker's helmet and large chunks of machinery around his body.
As of Update 29.5 (2020-11-19), Malice can now spawn in The Steel Path missions.
Tactics[]
Malice wields an
Opticor and a
Heat Dagger. Malice is capable of casting
Magnetize against enemy Tenno, forcing them to soak up fire from their teammates and making it near-impossible to avoid his Opticor blasts. In addition, Malice is capable of summoning Nemes drones (using the summoning animation of a Drahk Master).
Strategy[]
- Malice's
Magnetize bubbles can be dislodged simply by rolling. - Wukong's
Defy can help withstand damage from attacks when under the effect of Malice's Magnetize. - Nyx's
Absorb with the
Assimilate augment counters Malice's Magnetize effect and keeps the user safe.
Notes[]
- Has 500 base Shields despite the Codex stating he has 200 base Shields.
Quotes[]
- "We will not tolerate this disturbance."
- "We will not abide this insurrection."
- "Do not rest, Tenno, you are not safe."
- "Who do you hunt?"

Patch History[]
Update 36.0 (2024-06-18)
- Fixed the VFX and SFX from Magnetize ability lasting forever after killing the Malice Acolyte while he’s mid-cast.
Hotfix 29.5.4 (2020-11-25)
- Acolytes have been given the fancy “boss Health bar” treatment!
Update 29.5 (2020-11-19)
- THE STEEL PATH: ACOLYTES JOIN THE BATTLE & MORE!
- As you play in any Steel Path mission, Acolytes will spawn and attack - defeating the Acolyte grants a guaranteed drop of 2 Steel Essence. Beware! If you get downed by an Acolyte, they'll escape and you won’t receive any Steel Essence!
- The Steel Path Acolytes now have received the same Status Effect eligibility treatment that Liches received in Update 27.3 earlier this year. This means we have slightly increased their health (scaled by squad size) as the Status Effect eligibility makes them easier to kill.
- Reduced the Melee attack damage on Malice to avoid the more reported 1HKOs.
- In essence (ha), there is virtually no RNG with Steel Essence anymore. Acolytes will always appear in regular missions (Endlessly in Endless missions.). The time at which they choose to appear may be a bit random, but if you kill mobs, they will come!
- Please note, Acolytes won't spawn in Archwing missions on the Steel Path.
Hotfix 18.4.1 (2016-01-25)
- Introduced.

You can just roll to remove that bubble? You're kidding me
I haven't unlocked Steel Path yet but the Gift of Lotus survival 110-130 is available. I've been farming Arcane from Malice solo (appears at 5:00 and a chance for a second appearance near the end of the 10:00 timer) with Valkyr Hysteria with Corrosion + Heat melts him in seconds
Gets hit by mania and then malice in a row is so good, I love killing myself twice!!
Targets you even though you're invisible, top tier gameplay design.
He's just really accurate ok
This. I love playing Ivara and have her tuned for infinite invis, but against him, I have no chance which makes her useless in SP. Would be nice if they fixed this.
Did this guy get a secret buff? He just turned 180 degrees and shot my invisible Loki out of nowhere. And did it twice. At first i thought he shot someone else behind me and i changed my spot rapidly. Ten he did another 360 no scope move and shot me again. As a side note that i had Hushed Invisibilty augment so there was no gunfire sound. I clearly remember i killed this guy many times without having any trouble with invisibility.
Just my thought, he's been dominating my loki recently
Well, figured out it was me just killing myself, because his magnetize bubble was hard to see in invis mode on loki
Just remember to roll when he casts Magnetize on you Tennos!
His magnetize also attracts your own projectiles, so you end up killing youself every time. Fun times
He can teleport you too :)
Encountering Malice in an SP stage made me feel like a new player again. It was great.
DE talks about damage attenuation being needed because players would just one-shot the Archons...but this guy can one shot us too...and it feels so much worse.
Malice doesn't one shot you. You one shot yourself because you don't realize you have a mag bubble on your head. Go melee and use CC.
1st mission on steel path, i see him talking on the screen, got a fire proc on me somehow... shield gatting and... i'm dead.
Don't ask me what happened because i just don't know...
There's a difference between something being difficult as a challenge and some Stalker simp using aimbot. Good job DE very well thought out. Idk how you made Stalker great and then made Malice absolute shit
"just roll" wow I feel so engaged with this incredible gameplay. What strategy. What fun. This has nothing on Stalker. No needing to keep a perfect distance between you and him, no avoiding Hate swings or his dashes, no dodging Dread shots, just roll and then one shot Malice or be killed instantly.
Damn bubble caught me off guard, killed myself and instantly failed the mobdef somehow. Was initially confused, thought a patch had changed Steel Path mechanics - nope, realized I one-shot both myself AND the defense objective.
The only enemy that can pretend to be your real Nemesis...
I wish he'd be the Stalker, he's capable of fucking our ass very calmly if we're not paying attention.
Brother…..what? 💀
Malice is for real the greatest threat of all the Acolytes. Even if you play a fully modded Inaros Prime it can still kill you with ease. Either because your teammates shoot and it gets caught in the magnetize-bubble, or you simply blow yourself up because magnetize also lets you take damage from your own weapons. *cries in 1.2mil self damage via Torid Inc*
Mesa, and his gone in 2sec flat. If its even that long. ;-)
How do deal with Malice's bullshit:
Step 1) Give a Railjack Crewmate an Envoy
Step 2) Have said Crewmate On Call
Step 3) Summon them when you see Malice
Step 4) Hide in Operators Void Mode and watch Malice get turned into out
Absolutely tilting that using the stropha, while invis still kills you when he bubbles.
Dunno why the page states that you need the augment for Absorb... As if the protection from damage was an attribute of the augment and not of absorb itself?
I mean, it's not even a very good augment, you are still going to move at a snail's pace and be unable to properly jump etc... It's better not to waste a slot with it and just use regular absorb only you need it, rather than trying to keep it on all of the time.
You need that augment to fight him. without it, you just sit there and watch him drain your energy
Without the augment you are a sitting duck, with it you can at least wield your weapons and fight back
Fuck this mf, gotta wait ten years before i can start spamming him
My concern about Malice is that playing Baruuk Desolate Hands will just automatically kill you even if you know what is happening and not shooting. There should be other abilities like that shooting automatically that you can't stop on demand. This part should be addressed imho. I am fine with him killing you when you shoot on purpose but not with something you don't control.
I really hated him until i rechecked the wiki and read the "magnetize can be dislogded by rolling", like bruh i not use the bullet jump to move around i spam the roll 24/7, now i feel safe spamming my kuva zarr to my heart content against him, i just wait for him to cast it, once it happens, i roll, and just drop the viral sun on him twice and he gone.
So yeah the key to easily defeat him is just patience, wait for him to do the mag cast, ROLL, and nuke.
And correction, i know he is inmune to viral procs but for farming steel essence i run grineer missions.
Took a few times killing myself with my own weapon before I came here to look up why... stupid magnetize.
