Pyrol is obtainable by mining red mineral veins on the Plains of Eidolon. It can also drop from Tusk Thumpers. It is mainly used in crafting Pyrotic Alloy and Tempered Bapholite.

I find that just quickly run over the nodes with the sunpoint drill will get you a faster amount of resources in general, and if you have smeeta buff then utilize it more efficiently that way. I skip the minegame part and it saves me alot of time
I think i got like 100 of every basic resources in 10 min or smth like that
Yeah, i only do the ones with one node
250 ferros to 36 pyrol holy shit
For the record. I personally used the sunpoint drill. I bullet jumped my way to Twin Horns like everyone else. Mined every node in between. Getting perfects whenever possible. in 21m 32s I managed to acquire 184 Pyrol with a booster. It seems to me that playing the minigame is anecdotal. Using a lesser mining laser is anecdotal. The location of the ore veins is anecdotal. The amount of drilling points and whether there are bonus marks is anecdotal. Got multiple veins of 20 pyrol by hitting the bonus gem node. The cave is definitely a good place to go, due to the sheer amount of ore and gem nodes there are. popped the blue veins without bothering and got 16 sentirum, 26 nyth, 64 veridos, 26 crimzian, 98 devar, and 92 azurite. As for the other ores. 122 ferrite, 210 coprun, and 90 auron.
Classic misinformation due to wiki being shit and not doing enough research. Somebody already proved through statistics that mining laser and location causes different results. Source: Kengineer
I trust the KEngineer
The POE mineral balance really is wack. All the other metals will be uselessly overflowing within short order, but for some reason every recipe under the sun requires 400 units of this stuff.
Resource Booster : Active

I Have Smeeta Kavat but it wont activate charm since i use titania to speed up mining progress

Advanced Nosam Cutter or Sunpoint Plasma Drill?
For those who arent getting any from Twin Horns cave, try mining on the outdoor plains area near body of water during day time.
I just run to gara toth lake and search the west side of the lake only. then the small water on the west side of hek's stilletto, then towards twin horns area *but i do only the outside.
I only mined red nodes with sunpoint plasma drill and did all the minigames. i got about 50 in 5~8min
Location : Twin Horns
Cutter : Nosam
86 pyrol in 8mn15s
Smeeta Kavat but no boosters
Ty for the tip, really useful
Can confirm this.
Resource booster: Active
Location : Twin Horns (one run)
Cutter : Sunpoint Plasma Drill

Ferros: 288
Azurite: 82
Coprun: 204
Crimzian: 8
Devar: 48
Veridos: 46
Sentirum: 14
Nyth: 8
I'll back up previous comments: I did a walk to Twin Horns, then went down into the caves, and a walk back. 143 pyrol. If it matters this was night-time and I had my smeeta with me. I played the mini-game and it seemed to give me about 10 when I did that (if it gave me pyrol) while doing the quick version gave me 4, so depends on how much time you want to spend on each node (and how many runs) but both seem viable.
Bullshit RNG! stop giving me rare crystals i got like 5k of them each i fucking need lots of pyrol for the goddamn necramech!
The higher quality of a job you do with cutting, the rarer the crystal. The sloppier you are, the more common the crystal. Find the right balance between precision and sloppiness and the RNG will be slightly less random.
I can second this. Was trying to get Necrathene the other day and seen people were saying to use the Adv. Nosam Cutter for it because it lowered the drop table to allow for the Necrathene to be the rare gem that you'd get instead of whatever the higher rarity stuff is. In any case, I don't have the standing/rank required to get the Adv. Cutter so I usually just half-a** the mini-game; I'll stop before it gets to the middle of the brackets so it's not "perfect" but not crappy either. Made it a little less horrible to get the Necrathene (using Sunpoint Drill). Pretty much do the same for anything I need depending on what it is. Like Lone Tenno said, just gotta find the right balance.
Twin Horns + Nosam Cutter, skipped minigame
= 26 / 3 mins
It actually work, i went to twin horns and got 20 pyrol
Great spot but i dont think the type of cutter matters
It does, you can mine out a node faster with only 3 taps, not need to draw out shapes to mine anything
Its freaking awesome, i got 50 in 4 mins without any boost XDD
Mtherfucker stop giving me rare shit or bs gems i need this pyrol
Twin Horns + Nosam Cutter, skipped minigame
= 26 / 3 mins
Whoops
Can confirm, with Nosam cutter, at Twin Horns cave, got 70 in 10 mins
Is it me or do we need 10 times more of this than other minerals ? I got hundreds of the other but I keep coming back for this one. Did DE forget to put the other PoE minerals in recipes ?
Same situation here, and they had the audacity of making this a requirement to make another mineral when it's always on shortage
Yeah
300 pyrol in a little more than half hour on cetus. with boosters and smeeta... Using fortuna plasma drill (sunpoint)
For my testing, seems that the theory of sunlight affecting his drop chance is correct. On the "outside" i got close to 80% drop on red veins. just by walking from cetus to twin horn cave.
Inside the cave allmost got zero pyrol.
Seems that they will drop IF: they have a source of sun, so the entrace of the cave gave me a lot of Pyrol. And if they are close to water. Any other random red vein will drop coprum and ferros.
So whenever i was close to water or sunlight i completed the minigame droping ~40 Pyrol each (sometimes will drop random stuff but the chances are higher)
I got 79 Pyrol in the cave below Twin Horns in about 15 minutes with no boosters.
Can't confirm this, because when im not using boosters i always go to twin horns cave, minimum of 40 pyrol per whole cave wich is like 15/20min grind.
Today i got a login double booster and cleared the path from cetus to twin and the cave, sunpoint drill, was night, got like 47 inside cave and 60 outside. in 17 minutes, not ignoring the blue veins, clearing everything. Good run!
Wow, so mining the twin horns cave with a smeeta but no booster (took me abt 18 mins to clear) I got 131 pyrol. Wish I had this while farming Gara. Great tip random lone tenno in the comments!
Whoever lazy to mining this (like me) , I recommend doing Doma Thumper hunt just select high level bounty and ignore the objective. Fly around to find the thumper, after your team kill it reenter Cetus and repeat.(Only can do this at Plains of Eidolon during daytime though.) Team composition of Nova for slow, Rhino for buff and Nekross for descerate. Use high critical and firerate weapon (Soma Prime, Prisma Gorgon, Rattleguts kitgun etc.) using Radiation element. You can get around ~30 pyrotic alloy per run or if lucky even ~90 (with resources boosters). Also reminder, Thumper also drop other resources from Plains of Eidolon so not 100% can get Pyrol but with Nekross this will increase the chance of getting it. I farm them for Deimos stuff and from my experience it really reliable. - SanyuSinichi
I may be wrong, but my tests show that pyrol drops better on surface in sunny days. If red core lighted by sun, chance of pyrol drop drastically increase. In caves chance of pyrol drop definetely much lower.
Truly random indeed. Went in with a Sunpoint Plasma Drill, got 0 Pyrol in 40 minutes. Went in for 10 minutes with the Nosam and got like 60.
It may very well have to do with the fact that the Sunpoint Plasma Drill has a better chance of getting rarer materials than the Nosam, so Pyrol, Ferros, and Copprite all get kicked out more frequently.
That or it's actually just a random number generator spitting out 40 9's in a row.
Twin Horns Cave, No active bounty, 1 Run each
Basic Noosam Cutter / One tapping nodes (no minigame) 18 Coprun, 52 Pustrels, 4 Pyrol, 12 Aurion, 23 Ferros
Sunfire Plasma Drill / Mining minigame 30 Coprun, 98 Pustrels, 33 Pyrol, 0 Aurion, 76 Ferros
got 180 in 20 min :D
HI..thanks for the suggestion. just tested the location for pyrol farming. got 186 pyrol for 20 min of farming from the cave. with resource booster
I've seen people complain about the "mining reward" overlay delaying further mining... all you need to do to shorten the wait is a quick melee.
Mine > Quick Melee > Right click aim to revert to cutter tool > Mine again with no wait
Also, the first cave to the west of Cetus has very good drops for me for the time it takes, 30~40 per 5/7 minutes run
