Cryotic is a special resource, available mainly in the Excavation game mode, and can also be acquired from Resource Caches. It was introduced in Update 14.5 (2014-08-28), during the Operation Cryotic Front event.

Gathering Tips[]
Cryotic is primarily obtained by accomplishing Excavation missions, which is the only mission type that rewards Cryotic in large quantities. Completing an Excavation cycle will grant 100 Cryotic. Although this is not stated during an Excavation mission, Resource Boosters do in fact double Cryotic earnings at the mission's end. Smeeta Kavat's double pickup/affinity Charm buff will also double Cryotic earnings, provided that the buff is active at the time an excavator finishes digging. The difficulty of the Excavation mission does not affect the amount of Cryotic being awarded.
And while it's no guarantee you'll get it, Cryotics sometimes appear as a Daily Tribute award.
Trivia[]
- The name Cryotic stems from the Greek word κρύο (cryo), which translates to cold.
- Cryotic appears to be a mutagenic hazard that affects wildlife through excessive exposure, as shown in the Shifting Sands Tactical Alert where Desert Skates were mutated by Cryotic exposure into larger, tougher forms.
- Interestingly, a single Cryotic unit can be used to sustain a snowdrift/snowman permanently (as described in certain Clan Dojo decorations), fitting its purpose as a super-cooler.

Easy fix for the drop; Earth, Venus and Mars 100 Cryotic per Excavation
Europe and Neptune 200 Cryotic
Pluto 300 Cryotic
Another method; For every 5 successful Exacavation gain 100 more per excavation.

In-game description does not mention Pluto. We try to match in-game localization as much as possible for infobox data, even if it's wrong. Could mention that as a trivia point or as a bug on the article.

You must have added up very wrong, sibear is 30,000, freezing step ephemera is 20,000, that is 50,000 already for just 2 items

Kiliken at Venus is a nice mission to farm it, 3-8 lvl mobs, 100 cryotics per excavator...
And if u go with friends, it will be very fast and easy.
Most boring thing in the game. Farm it solo on Corpus ice tiles and enemies will take longer and longer to show up after the 1st excavator. 3mins -> 5mins -> 10mins, etc. This bug has existed for years.
But no biggie. Only need to do 1,585 of 'em.

Yeah, but how many blueprints require hexenon? I have so much just from occasional relic runs that I honestly forget it exists (except when helminth is hungry) cryotic needs multiple thousands on many different blueprints, and takes a decent chunk of time to walk away with a few hundred.
Excav a horrible mission? lol excav use to be one of the best farms to upgrade mods and farm keys I think...came back 6 years later and had enough cryo to build everything with 200k ish left over to feed.
He means horrible as in not fun, because playing excavation is in fact about as interesting to play as it is to stick a toothpick under your toenail and kicking a wall.
