Trivia
- Excalibur is named after the legendary sword of King Arthur. Many of Excalibur's alternate helmets feature names based off Arthurian legend.
- Excalibur is based on Hayden Tenno's suit from the original Dark Sector concept by Digital Extremes, WARFRAME's conceptual precursor.
- Digital Extremes' previously released game Dark Sector is a reimagining of said concept, with its version of the suit being available as the Proto-Armor Skin.
- Excalibur costs less
Platinum to purchase him outright than to rush construction of the components and main blueprint.
- He is the first of two Warframes with an unpolarized Aura slot,
Nekros being the second.
- An Excalibur is shown being ripped apart by Alad V while wearing the Pendragon Helmet and the Immortal Skin in "The Profit", a trailer for the PS4 release of WARFRAME.
- Prior to Update 14, Excalibur would use his equipped melee weapon when casting his abilities, regardless if it was impractical (casting
Radial Javelin with a
Galatine), nonsensical (
Slash Dashing with the
Kogake) or impossible (using any of his abilities without a melee weapon equipped). Update 14 changed this by making him generate an ethereal
Skana when using his abilities, rather than using his melee weapon.
- If there was no melee weapon equipped, then Excalibur would use the currently equipped weapon. (i.e. Radial Javelin with a
Braton). Humorously, ethereal copies of that weapon would appear upon using Radial Javelin.
- If there was no melee weapon equipped, then Excalibur would use the currently equipped weapon. (i.e. Radial Javelin with a
- Before Hotfix 22.8.3 (2018-01-11), Excalibur parts blueprints dropped from Ambulas on Hades, Pluto. This is now the drop location of
Trinity.
- In Update 23.0 (2018-06-15), Excalibur's
Exalted Blade received a physical form to allow for customization, replacing its previous form which was made from pure energy.
- The same update also allowed players to directly mod
Exalted Blade.
- The same update also allowed players to directly mod
- According to the Official Tenno Alphabet Cipher, the design on Excalibur's right shoulder is in fact a word that spells out "Hayden Tenno". The same word can be found on top of Excalibur's head.
- Excalibur's default helmet was added to the real-time strategy game Airmech as a victory gesture after Warframe beating Airmech in a vote of popularity between the two.
- This was originally intended to be Excalibur Prime's default helmet, however the reason for this change is unknown.
- Excalibur's default helmet (along with the default helmets of
Loki and
Chroma) are available as unlockable antenna toppers in Rocket League.
- Having 12 alternate helmets, Excalibur has the most alternate helmets out of any Warframe, with Excalibur Prime's being exclusive.
- Excalibur has the most variations out of any Warframe: base,
Excalibur Prime (Founder's exclusive),
Excalibur Umbra, and
Excalibur Umbra Prime (Warframe China Exclusive).

Huh. That was weird.
Reading the passive,
It states you get a benefit if you wield a sword. A sword and shield includes a sword yet isn't listed on the melee categories to receive the benefit? So does it get it or not?
Over half the swords and shields weapons in this game don't even include swords, they're clubs or mace-like blunt force trauma weapons. But it's not like a knight needs a shield anyway. Why need a shield when you're the master of the sword?
Passive is great for Beginners starting out but it needs a stat boost from 10 to 60%, wouldn't make much difference but it's equivalent to steel charge and Arcane strike.
I'd love for a future tweak on Excal to buff up the numbers in his passive and an increase to casting speed for all his abilities. He's been my favourite for a while, with the original Excalibur being my number 2 and Excalibur Umbra coming up close. Just compare the numbers difference between his passive and Kullervo's and it's basically heaven and earth
me thinks excalibur best frame excalibur best frame like this post if you agree

Reading...the lost art
Faz o L
Currently the worst frame in the game. All of his abilities are either mediocre to bad and outdated. You could try to argue Nyx is worse but at least she can strip armor, has 20% evasion, and a massive radius confusion. If you are just playing him for the exalted weapon, Baruuk has the best stock damage reduction tank in the game, a MUCH better exalt and a very similar CC ability. Also why does slash dash not protect your shield? Frustratingly obtuse to work with shield gating and his HP/armor is way to low to tank with armor, even with Umbral mods. Valkyr might need a bit of a rework too but has an insane armor/attack speed buff that is better than excal's whole kit, with on demand invulnerability/lifesteal that works for gating or hp tanking.
Volt and Mag are both amazing frames, there is no reason for the warframe poster boy starter to be this useless/overshadowed. And instead of giving the passive of Umbra buffs (ie no ammo use, invulnerability or at least extreme damage reduction) you just get a mod band-aid to turn it off completely. Sure it's power drift with less drain but you could have just gotten rid of the conflicts of interest and given players a really cool frame to play with as an operator.
Hey a fandom user, at the moment im on a call with my friend and he made me send this saying that your ranting like you didnt get excalibur umbra for free either (He overhypes excalibur alot)
Hey A Fandom User, have you considered 500M red crits on an exalted blade gas build? Didn't think so, also you're ranting like you didn't get Excalibur Umbra for free.
Secondary notes: Why are you trying to health tank? Did you forget Rolling Guard exists? Did you forget his second ability exists as well? Have you considered no armor strip doesn't always equal bad frame?
^This person really just said "have you forgotten that you can use a single ability in 'Exalted Blade' *smug face*? Or that you can just spam Radial Blind every time you see an enemy without a sparkling effect on their head *laugh of superiority*? Or that you can simply use Rolling Guard to gate damage while trying to get your shields up *condescending chuckle*? Didn't you know that this is a completely reasonable, and normal way to play a frame, that everyone who doesn't play level 9999 content finds fun? Just because he's one of two frames literally incapable of playing level 50 missions without some form of damage gating doesn't mean that he's badly designed, it just means that you're bad, and if you complain about these issues, then you're just not a real gamer my friend. Why are you trying to play the game in a way that most people find more fun than trying to gate damage and rely on blinds for survivability? And are you forgetting that Excalibur Umbra is FREE? Being a "freely" acquired (late quest) character in this Free To Play game, where you have already gotten at least one Frame just at the start of the game for much less effort and will prolly get more through drops and announcements for less effort again, clearly means that it is beyond criticism."
Like holy fuck, I'm not even the original poster, and even I think your comment is the dumbest, most "better-than-thou", most fucking head-ass shit ever, go touch some grass or make some friends, you strange individual. Your comment was so stupid that I had to write an essay just to barely scratch the surface of your stupidity.
If you are having trouble playing level 50 missions with this or any other warframe ever released, you ARE bad at the game.
The melee passive works with furax? I played Titania all day than u switched to EXC and i felt he attacks faster with it.
For all of you who keep talking about turning off Umbra's passive, please look at the alternate equipment section, I beg you. DE has heard your prayers and answered.
Nobody wanted turning off Umbra's passive as an augment mod. People were asking for a toggle setting at the loadout to turn it off, not a band-aid augment.
This is always how passive disablement has worked?
The fact it has always been done like this doesn't mean its good.
We NEVER asked for it to be an AUGMENT MOD. We wanted OPTION TO TURN IT OFF.
I checked the stats, excalibur umbra is literally better than prime ( i say this because he has the umbra polaritys)
Yeah, I would love it if I could remove the sentience, but IF they add some kinda warframe-drifter merger in the future (cuz of Arthur) it would be a potent mix, the player switches to the drifter and beats the living hell out of things
"causing unnessecary noise and wasting ammo" isn't even half of why Sentience is considered bad, buffing abilities get erased upon transferring out which goes against any synergy related to the operator form such as using Madurai Sling for strength buff and is overall just really buggy.
On top of all this, Sentience also makes any damage he takes apply to you when you transferrence back into him, with the only upside being that he will full heal if he dies in Sentience.
For Umbra's sentience to be even halfway decent, it should NOT go against basic game mechanics, the only thing it has going for it is the fact it no longer cancels exalted blade which isn't even a big upside...
And, unless it's been changed, Radial Howl actually takes longer to cast than Radial Blind as well, overall Umbra is just a badly designed frame that should be buffed and fixed, we're apparently getting an augment to remove his sentience soon but that just adds onto the pile of "Augments that do nothing but band-aid fix an ability"
As for the Umbra polarities: Until we actually get more Umbra mods that actually are meaningful to use, they're a bigger hindrance than they are useful as there's better ways to tank than just raw health and armor (especially with his stats). If Excalibur Prime wasn't founder only, it would actually be way better than Umbra PURELY because of the lack of Sentience as a passive.
And even if you wish to go the health tank route: there are Arcanes that can add just as much survivability without wasting mod slots
Should allow players to use that frame to fight with them if they want to since it’s sentient.
I have 2 umbra's now because of account merge and i imagine two sentient umbra's just walking around my orbiter
Me too
Wish they'd base javelin damage on the exalted weapon stats. It's costly enough to warrant this.
DE need to give us the option to turn off his umbra passive. Or fix it already
Its annoying isn't it!!
Hes so hot
Fr
If only they let you choice between using prime version of this or the umbra version (yes you could polarize slots the same but getting a umbra forma is a rare thing that might be better spent elsewhere)
I dont play this game anymore - they always nerf fun on things that consuming your life too much. Its not ok guys.
Came to whine about balancing on the Wiki? Sad.
Talking about nerfing when they deadass buffed excal months ago
When you can make slash dash do millions of damage now
Considering the last nerf they did was all the way back at Veilbreaker, over a year ago, this comment is ironic.
Completely ignoring hundreds of buff we have this year.
So... which is it? Does he consume ammo or not?
He does consume ammo. The first part is probably an old tip from before the AFK-wukong update that made specters use ammo.
Fix "aura pol" madurai
What do you mean? His aura polarity is universal/no polarity.
