Over half the swords and shields weapons in this game don't even include swords, they're clubs or mace-like blunt force trauma weapons. But it's not like a knight needs a shield anyway. Why need a shield when you're the master of the sword?

Secondary notes: Why are you trying to health tank? Did you forget Rolling Guard exists? Did you forget his second ability exists as well? Have you considered no armor strip doesn't always equal bad frame?

^This person really just said "have you forgotten that you can use a single ability in 'Exalted Blade' *smug face*? Or that you can just spam Radial Blind every time you see an enemy without a sparkling effect on their head *laugh of superiority*? Or that you can simply use Rolling Guard to gate damage while trying to get your shields up *condescending chuckle*? Didn't you know that this is a completely reasonable, and normal way to play a frame, that everyone who doesn't play level 9999 content finds fun? Just because he's one of two frames literally incapable of playing level 50 missions without some form of damage gating doesn't mean that he's badly designed, it just means that you're bad, and if you complain about these issues, then you're just not a real gamer my friend. Why are you trying to play the game in a way that most people find more fun than trying to gate damage and rely on blinds for survivability? And are you forgetting that Excalibur Umbra is FREE? Being a "freely" acquired (late quest) character in this Free To Play game, where you have already gotten at least one Frame just at the start of the game for much less effort and will prolly get more through drops and announcements for less effort again, clearly means that it is beyond criticism."

If you are having trouble playing level 50 missions with this or any other warframe ever released, you ARE bad at the game.

Nobody wanted turning off Umbra's passive as an augment mod. People were asking for a toggle setting at the loadout to turn it off, not a band-aid augment.

The fact it has always been done like this doesn't mean its good.

We NEVER asked for it to be an AUGMENT MOD. We wanted OPTION TO TURN IT OFF.

Yeah, I would love it if I could remove the sentience, but IF they add some kinda warframe-drifter merger in the future (cuz of Arthur) it would be a potent mix, the player switches to the drifter and beats the living hell out of things

"causing unnessecary noise and wasting ammo" isn't even half of why Sentience is considered bad, buffing abilities get erased upon transferring out which goes against any synergy related to the operator form such as using Madurai Sling for strength buff and is overall just really buggy.

On top of all this, Sentience also makes any damage he takes apply to you when you transferrence back into him, with the only upside being that he will full heal if he dies in Sentience.

For Umbra's sentience to be even halfway decent, it should NOT go against basic game mechanics, the only thing it has going for it is the fact it no longer cancels exalted blade which isn't even a big upside...

And, unless it's been changed, Radial Howl actually takes longer to cast than Radial Blind as well, overall Umbra is just a badly designed frame that should be buffed and fixed, we're apparently getting an augment to remove his sentience soon but that just adds onto the pile of "Augments that do nothing but band-aid fix an ability"

As for the Umbra polarities: Until we actually get more Umbra mods that actually are meaningful to use, they're a bigger hindrance than they are useful as there's better ways to tank than just raw health and armor (especially with his stats). If Excalibur Prime wasn't founder only, it would actually be way better than Umbra PURELY because of the lack of Sentience as a passive.

And even if you wish to go the health tank route: there are Arcanes that can add just as much survivability without wasting mod slots

He does consume ammo. The first part is probably an old tip from before the AFK-wukong update that made specters use ammo.
