No way this is a hitscan weapon, it missed all shots vs fast units when i used it and i was standing still.
Oh i see charge weapon....delete my comment :D
I could have sworn this used to be an actual projectile weapon when it was introduced, not just a re-skinned mini trash Opticor
It have ~5m AOE with so little base damage that arsenal doesn't show it (meaning 0 < N <0.1), which is magnetic and ~15% status chance.
Huh, you are right. Good observation anon, from https://overframe.gg/build/new/2225/vulcax/:
Is the magnetic status taken into account for manifold bond ?
I just tested, magnetic is not taken into account for Manifold Bond
Yeah, aoe components are not taken into account. Same goes for the heat part of helstrum damage
It looks pretty cool. I think it's the only upside of using this weapons, although to be fair all sentinel weapons kinda suck. It's also one of the 2 sentinel weapons capable of making use of Tenacious Bond without a riven so there's that.
Quite possibly the worst sentinel weapon. The dogshit in the sea of shit.
What happens when I Mod this to have 2 loads in its magazine size with Magazine Wrap and Wildfire?
Does it shoot one after the other or does it still reload between shots?
Late reply, unpopulair weapon. in case you're still interested in an anwer i'd say it should fire twice and then reload.
Weird. i have corrosive and heat damage types, but somehow apply Magnetic sometimes
Because it's shitto Opticor, the weapon. Lowest efford for the highest ranked weapon. Classy DE move.
Yeah, it's not mentioned on the wiki page but I was just messing around getting MR and noticed it myself. It is literally just a tiny Opticor that does really bad damage. I think they programmed it so that the Vulcax's radial attack (The Opticor has a radial attack portion to it that does magnetic damage) has effectively no base damage, but still happens? Resulting in you sometimes seeing magnetic procs, but never seeing extra numbers, and there being no mention of it in the arsenal. For comparison, with sufficient negative damage on a riven (-88.9% on my Tetra riven does this), the arsenal screen will seemingly round everything down to zero and not show any damage stats at all. I think the way they coded the Vulcax (it being a borrow version of Opticor) is what leads to it still being able to randomly proc Magnetic.
I don't seem to be able to get its magnetic proc to work with Manifold Bond, however. Tested using Diriga with Arc Coil. That's fine though since Manifold Bond considers all damage types on your sentinel weapon (including already present physical types) and Vulcax is pure heat it loses value. Though it would have been great if it proc'd Magnetic. That way you could have Diriga priming Magnetic, Electricity, + another Combo Element of your choice, + another Single Element of your choice. Which still generally wouldn't be as good as priming IPS + Electricity + combo element + single element...which it can currently do with a sentinel weapon like Dethmachine RIfle which has IPS. (The electricity proc comes from the Arc Coil ability/precept itself, and not Manifold Bond inheriting elements).
so that's one shot every 7 seconds. a mag size of 1 and reload speed of 6 secs. this weapon is possibly the most useless thing ingame. You'd think with such low fire rate it would have like 100+ damage, but no. 35. why.
The biggest issue of the fortuna (moa) weapons could have easily been solved by changing the magazine size and reload speed.
Like tazicor having a magazine of 20 round with a 0.5 second reload, vulcax having no reload (like the epithaph) and cryota having a 2.0 second reload. the Helstrum is fine imo.
Since the verglass arrived there is however no reason to use anyting else on your sentinel/moa since it's basically a second primary weapon. Still waiting for a buff to the older robotic weapons that will probably never come.
I see your verglas and raise you a Helstrum. That thing is a status-proccing machine, and since the verglas will never, ever match the killing potential of multiple Primary, Secondary and Melee weapons no matter what you put on it, you might as well use a proccer instead.
Kiljaedenas. In 2023, Duplex Bond basically makes lets you have 3 extra Verglas using sentinels present at a time. Consider that like a +300% Eclipse Bonus. I have to remember to take it off or it kills rank 3 Sisters in a blink of an eye before I can farm their hounds. Also, since the killing power of multiple Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapons has never been necessary, having a Verglas around feels like cheating ;P Of course Duplex Bond multiplies the status output of Helstrum too.
Even more of course though is that now in 2023, you can have Diriga equip Manifold Bond and constantly prime everything in range with IPS + Electricity + 2 combo elements (or 1 combo ele, 1 single ele) constantly with Arc Coil + Manifold Bond. If you use Helstrum for this you're only losing the S in IPS, and Diriga will fire those rockets from 70 dang meters with his Calculated Shot, adding to the chaos
**forgot to add, since Duplex Clones can move away freely from you, they also hugely alter the limited beam range of Verglas. Making it my preferred primer, since they just so happen to melt everything with heat procs. Especially if I use a heat inherit primer myself, they literally will finish the job on SP Heavy Gunners.
Cant seem to install projectile speed mods on this one, why?
Even though it fires a beam, it's a hitscan weapon with no falloff. So proj speed will literally do nothing for the weapon.
For whatever reason, i noticed that it sometimes procs magnetic, even though i have no elemental mods on him (so it should be heat and heat only)
Apparently it can use the Firestorm mod. can anyone confirm whether or not it has any noticable effect on the Vulcax?
Yeah seems when the beam hits a surface, it creates a small blast of magnetic damage (at least I think it's magnetic damage because magnetic sometimes procs). Firestorm increases the radius of this.
Well. It looks cool at least. Isn't that what endgame is? Fashion Frame? Even if said fashion has no effectiveness in battle what so ever?
Whoever set up the stats for the Fortuna Robotic weapons should have been bitchslapped and told to go back, cut thre reload time to a quarter, double or triple the magazine size, double the damage, and fix the omnipresent shitty bugs.
All of the Robotic weapons from Fortuna are way, way below abhorrent fecal-projectile tier.
Helstrum and cryota are somewhat decent though, as far as sentinel weapons go
Helstrum has good AOE and cryotra can reach up to 200%+ status chance
This weapon has been in the game for at least a year. It still requires MR14 to use and it is still one of the worst, if not the worst, sentinel weapons in the game. Literal trash.
got a riven with +CC +CD +Heat... now if only it had a disposition that's appropriate for how weak it is and i might actually use it for luls
Does the shot on this thing explode? it can equip Firestorm and Cautious shot..
I’m almost certain it has an opticor style explosion, hence the mag procs below, but I have no clue how to test it out.
Does the companion weapons give mastery?
Yes. 3000 total.
Brimstone
Ashame it can't hit any harder. Still its neat watching it fire with Critical Delay & Vile Precision "For Fun". Then there's 3 or 4 Forma to make it live up to only support you, as a Sentinel since MOA even with 2 rounds will miss the first 1 shot often.
This thing is mastery rank 14?
What?
In the unlikely event that it actually kills a foe for once, the corpse disappears (like when channeling).
And you need just 50% mag increase (Wildfire and Magazine Warp) for a second round, which does help make the reload significantly less crippling.
I can also confirm what others said. The thing deals magnetic procs. (Tested letting Diriga fire on the PoE, with just heat damage.)
That doesn't change that this is pretty bad, but could still be added to advantages or tips or whatever.
