- For Conservation Vascas, see Vasca Virus.
Deals 100/200/300/400 damage and restores 2/5/7/10% health to the kavat.
When its master is bleeding out, the Vasca Kavat sacrifices 80/60/40/20% of its health to raise them.
Acquisition[]
Vasca Kavats are not generated randomly from the Orbiter's Incubator. Instead, the player must have their owned Kavat become infected by wild Vasca that appear at nighttime in the Plains of Eidolon. The wild Vasca can also be lured out via Conservation where Master Teasonai sells the Vasca Kavat Lure for
3000 and Vasca Kavat Pheromone Oota for
200. Once the player's Kavat is attacked by the wild Vasca, it will become infected, indicated by a red overlay. Vulpaphylas cannot be infected. If your Kavat is downed in one hit by the wild Vasca, it will not return infected.
The player must then take their infected Kavat back to the Orbiter's Incubator and use a Genetic Code Template on them. To ensure that it will be specifically a Vasca Imprint, rather than an imprint of the original Kavat's breed, the wording of the confirmation dialog should read "Creating a pet imprint will consume a blank imprint and cure your Kavat of the Vasca Virus. Continue?" Selecting YES will start the imprinting process, which will yield a Vasca Imprint while also removing the virus. As this is creating an imprint, available imprints of the Kavat are required and also used up.
Two Vasca Imprints are needed as accessory to the ten additional Kavat Genetic Codes and one Incubator Power Core to create a Vasca Kavat.

An Infected Kavat
Note that the infection will be removed as the imprint is created; as such, the infection process needs to be repeated to get the required 2 imprints. This process can be streamlined by having two Kavats and infecting them both before creating the imprints, bypassing the wait for the first imprint creation before obtaining the second infection.
To remove the infection without using a Genetic Code Template, the player must have a Vasca Curative, sold by Master Teasonai for
500. It is a gear item which must be equipped and used in a mission.
Alternatively, the Vasca Kavat Starter Kit can be bought from the Market for
105. This bundle includes two Vasca Imprints, the 10 Kavat Genetic Codes, Incubator Power Core, and an extra Genetic Code Template.
Patch History[]
Update 34.0 (2023-10-18)
- COMPANION STAT CHANGES
Two broad changes have been made with regard to your Companion's base stats to increase their staying power:
1. Health, Shields and Armor have been refactored across the board.
This simple numeric buff was made with the goal of increasing Companion survivability. This also means that the choice of whether to use, for example, Enhanced Vitality or Linked Vitality, will depend on your Warframe choice instead of the Linked Mod always being strictly superior.
2. Non-Sentinel Companions now gain their full Health and Shield values immediately when you acquire them.
Historically Health and Shield values would increase as your Companion ranked up, which you could see as "Rank Bonuses" in the Upgrades screen. We've removed this behavior and simply given Companions what would end up being their Rank 30 values at Rank 0. This should let you immediately take your Companions on more difficult missions after earning them!
Including both the removal of Companion Rank bonuses, and the base increase to stats, the following lists the stat changes for all Companions at Rank 0:
Revised Kavat Stats:
- Vasca Kavat: 310 Health (from 80), 270 Shield (from 70), 200 Armor (from 50)

The Vasca would be really cool if it didn't have such insanely long cooldowns on all its abilities.
The revive is only usable once every 2 minutes, and the self-heal is only usable once every 20 seconds.
It isn't even worth bothering with, unless you just think it looks cool.
I don't understand; I made an imprint of my infected Kavat, it said "cure the infection", but the imprint I got is normal, not Vaska. I didn't even know this was wrong until I did the second imprint, and this one IS Vaska... Why did it waste my first imprint?
This is the best! Panzer Meta users gget off noobs
Didn’t know we’re in 2012!
This didnt age well
Nothing ever does.
Yeah now everyone run companions and panzer looks weak pick.
I don't know how having two kavats can make things faster when trying to switching to the second one while the first one is imprinting, gives the message: "Your current pet must complete imprinting before another can be equipped".
> bypassing the wait for the first imprint creation before obtaining the second infection.
While the first one is being imprinted you can get the 2nd one infected, rather than waiting for the 1st one to be done and then get that same one infected again.
"Your current pet must complete imprinting before another can be equipd"
^ nvm i get it now just get two infected (or more) then get imprints on em one by one
Just a couple tips: you don't need to craft two useless Kavats to be hosts for the virus; you can use one you already have because they will be restored to normal once you imprint. You can use the same Kavat for the second imprint. Also, if you're planning on rushing the imprints, don't buy the templates for plat, buy the blueprint and start the craft; the templates are 15p a pop, but if you start a craft for them, they're 5p to rush.

The wiki says two kavats helps make it go faster, not that you *need* two. Try reading.
They never said that the wiki stated that you "*need* two". He was just clarifying for anyone who may have misunderstood what was writted as when a warframe is infected, it cannot be re-infected once removed. Try reading.
What happens if i left the vasca virus on my kavat? it dies, evolved to vasca or just virus dissapear alone?
The Kavat will not evolved to anything and the virus will disappear after a certain amount of time. You need to use Genetic Code Template to extract Kavat copy with the Vasca Kavat virus. Then use the Vasca Kavat infected Template to breed a Vasca Kavat
Thats a bit disappoining, but then again if that would happen, it should happen the same with the helminth charger.
I have a technical question: Can I scan the vascas on Plains and get kavat genetic codes off them or do I need to keep running Orokin derelicts?
Ivara is good for this as she has sleep arrow. And can go invis.
That's exactly how I got my vasca. I scanned them in the plains and used those codes.
June tenno, no you didn't. The vasca kavats roaming the plains don't drop genetic codes. Stop lying.
Yea, scan them all night long but
you will get only Simaris standing XD
Slap this kitty on your Harrow. The constant heal from his 2 keeps the Vasca's HP maxed out 99% of the time, and it'll in return revive your dumb ass whenever you cast penance in front of a lvl 150 bombard and get instagibbed.
If I use a normal Vasca imprint and a infected non-vasca imprint, will there be a difference or is it both just vasca, resulting in 100% a vasca?
They proc slash almost every time when they hit me. But they penetrate my shields for some reason. Any reason why? (Im not using nidus or inaros)
Toxin dmg bypasses shields.
It was once upon a time supposed to go through your shields but should be patched recently
aerogen the question was about slash
Lmao how do I get the vasca kavat to bite my kavat, they just stand there alerted and don't even attack lol. Sometimes they attack my frame but not my kavat...
Bad advice
Voicing a problem without offering a solution is what we call whining. If this is bad advice then please offer some good advice. Or be quiet.
Incorrect comment
Depending on the type of vasca kavat, some are more aggressive than others, go find a bau or better yet one of the v type ones
Realize the Genetic Code Templates have a blueprint and can be crafted... they're not like slots.
Do not attempt to get vasca imprints off of a vulpaphyla. Despite the fact that vulpaphylas can indeed get the vasca virus and you can also indeed take a vasca imprint of said vulpaphyla, when it comes to selecting a genetic code template, the game simply ignores it and now you have two broken vasca kavat imprints in your inventory forever.
Vulpaphylas are foxes, not kavats (cats). Why would getting cat dna from a fox ever work?
Love the two people here trying to defend this obvious bug by either making no or *ss-pulled arguments. Vulpas are Kavats btw.
But they're not
The name "vulpaphyla" is made up from the root words "vupline" and "phylum", literally "fox category". They may technically be a form of kavat in game, but the name is pretty clear.
There are 2ntyoes of Vacsa Kavats in Cetus- Ostia and another but I forgot. Basically Ostia I think is green and the other dark purple. I was scanning vasca kitties and saw there were 2 types in codex
Actually, there is 3 types of vasca kavats. Idk the names but one is purple, one is green and one is red.
There are 3 subspecies of Vasca kavat: Ostia, Bau, and Nephil. However, you can only get the default Vasca from the Market, which is the red-eyed Ostia. Any "cloned" Vasca kavat made from normal Smeeta/Adarza kavat will have the energy color identical to your original cat. Vasca companion and wild Vascas roaming the plains are two different things.
Just got my first Kavat, Smeeta. I intentionally infected it with the Vasca virus and doing so seems to lower the base damage of the kitty. When i got it the base damage was at 80 slash (like in the wiki, so all good) and after the infection it turned to 60 slash. Id add a picture, but for some reason im not allowed to register so i can`t, sry o7
Look at it's stats in the incubator, not the armory. You most likely need to apply an "interaction" with your kavat to raise it's damage again. You get 3 interactions per 24hr period.
I don't think kavats lose damage if you don't interact with them, Kubrows do, but kavats are always at 100% even if you neglect them. knee dogs and independent cats and all that.
I know it's a couple months later, but I've just had the same issue with a Vulpaphyla. Made a post on Warframe forums, hopefully it's either confirmed as a feature or fixed.
It is a feature. Having it infected is meant to lower its damage but it goes away when you get rid of the infection. Just putting this here so people know for the future.
Does your kavat need available imprints remaining to make a vasca genetic code?
yes
This.
Sadly. :(
That thing is so stupid and it's so very little durable, that it spends more time being down than alive. Even when being fully modded, I mean. To the point of not being helpful often when I am the one down. Don't count on Draining Bite for it to regenerate itself BTW : you'll have to nurse it to infuriating levels.
I was hoping to have a reliable "life insurance" to play solo. I am disappointed.
Due to my link mod my Vasca kavat is so tanky that it never failed to revive unless it starts to act up and glitch inside the terrain but it always happens in warframe so its not really something to complain about
The Vasca's stats aren't even that different from a regular Kavat so this isn't really a fair critique of it.
More than anything this is just expressing that you either
A. Need to go get some more link mods or B. Need to bring a tankier warframe since link mods aren't going to do anything if your warframe is weak too
It's pretty simple with all animals: if you use a frame with either a lot of health and/or armor or even with a lot of shield (hildryn but others too), use the respective link-mod. if the frame is a glass cannon, use the 'normal' mods in the survival category. beside that obvious choice, use packleader (or primed) and then melee occasionally some enemies to heal the little buggers... and that's all there is to keep them around.
Ofc, if they still die like flies in a mission, it's a sign that you should either switch your frame to something tankier to help them out (with the link-mods) or use a sentinel instead since those are less likely to get attention from enemies... aside from when you go into operator mode and they being the only target around for the mobs.
If your Kavat dies often put on Link Health (ALWAYS better than the other health mod even on Loki with 225 health) and then Pack Leader which heals your Kavat by 36% of your melee damage which means one melee hit heals it from practically nothing to full health even at 2k health. Then I like Medi-Pet Kit and Tek Assault. Tek Enhance doesn't help with survivability but on a Smeta it is such a good mod and the 100 damage per second seems to be true damage as far as I can tell and also isn't only 100 damage. It does roughly the same percentage of the enemies health regardless of level.
Are there any differences between the outcomes of the following two scenarios?:
* Breeding a Vasca Kavat using two infected (red) imprints from a Vasca-infected non-Vasca Kavat;
* Breeding a Vasca Kavat using two normal imprints from an existing Vasca Kavat
Not really. Breeding just affects appearances so all it'll change is that your Kavat will more likely look like the specific Vascas you used to make it as opposed to a Vasca colored like your normal Kavat
What will happen if you use a Genetic Code Template on the "pure-blooded" Vasca from the Vasca Kavat Starter Kit?
Then you'll have a Genetic code of that Vasca specifically so when you use that genetic code when breeding, it increases the chance the bred Kavat will look like that one.
In the bugs section, it states that an infected kavat can have the infection visuals permanently stay after imprtinting. I had this issue, but using the curative in a mission removed the visuals/infection. Not sure if this is confirmed, but this should be tried in case there someone encounters this bug.
there is someone who*
I was able to to get two infested genetic samples from one and it was cured after the second onr.
