Notes[]
- Trading Arcane Barrier requires the trader to be Mastery Rank 11 or higher.
Tips[]
- Strong synergy with high shield frames, such as
Caliban,
Harrow,
Hildryn,
Mag, or
Styanax, and
Adaptation, allowing shields to resist high amounts of damage and continually be restored to full.
Patch History[]
Update 36.0 (2024-06-18)
- Trading Legendary Arcanes now requires you to be Mastery Rank 11.
- It’s important to note that only the player trading requires MR 11 and not the receiver.
- We needed to address an issue with exploitative Legendary Arcanes farming and ban-evasion account creation used to trade Legendary Arcanes. Other options we experimented with had the risk of innocent players getting caught in the crossfire of the ban-evasion subjects. When we took a look at Trading stats we found that a very small number of players below Mastery Rank 10 trade Legendary Arcanes, and therefore decided to go this route. This is purely a means of deterring the bad actors and ensuring legitimate trading for players.
- It’s important to note that only the player trading requires MR 11 and not the receiver.
Update 27.2 (2020-03-05)
- Added 2 additional ranks for a maximum of 6% chance to activate from a 4% chance to activate.
- Now specifies On Shield Damage (can no longer activate when receiving damage to health).
Update 16.0 (2015-03-19)
- Introduced.

Never underestimate a rank 0. it has 1 percent chance but at 1 sec cooldown.
Legendary? Legendary trash.
Prolly not
Can confirm that emotional damage can cause the arcane to trigger.
But will it trigger from a hit from my mother's thrown slipper?
Can confirm that environmental damage can cause the arcane to trigger still.
"It will also restore overshields on top of the normal shield capacity"
Can someone confirm that? I've seen a comment here saying it does, but another on Reddit saying it doesn't...
Does it trigger on overshields? Does it restore them as well?
It does, I just tested it in the Sim.
It doesn't restore overshields, it can proc on overshields but will not restore anything and will go in cooldown.
Is this on shield hit say on sp u get hit for 300 or more or is it counted per shield
I have the same dobt for grace so if i use it on a 100 shield frame i may not hit my hp at all if the first is true then its farming time
I think you're missing https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Shield#Shield_Gating. Warframes can't take health and shield damage from the same hit. That said "on hit" suggests that you'd still only have one chance to proc in this situation. This is part of why it synergizes with adaptation and other forms of damage reduction that affect shields.
Is this just a better arcane aegis? It has a stronger effect that has a lower cooldown and a better chance. Are they supposed to be used together? Doesn't seem like great design to me.
The thing to understand about Aegis is that it makes your standard regen (plus 30%) happen EVEN WHILE TAKING DAMAGE
So for like,12 seconds, your shields pretend you arent taking damage and continue to regen,
On a Hildryn, Aegis proccing translates to full 12 seconds of de facto invulnerability (aside from Toxic, of course) + free abilities.
But the 9% vs 6%, on the other hand, is a substantial thing to consider when talking about something you rely on for survivability.
So - for that frame at least - I'd say these two, despite the different rarities, are about on par and a matter of preference between higher reliability or greater returns per proc.
@Ladyvan
No, it gives +30% shield regeneration.
Shield regeneration gives 15 + 5% of your max shields. So +30% shield regeneration upgrades it to 19,5 + 6,5% of your max shields.
In other words if you have 500 shields without the arcane you recharge 40 shields/s.
With this arcane you regenerate 52 shields/s.
+30% of you max would be INSANE
Arcane Aegis' page makes it pretty clear that it is +30% of maximum shields/sec, not just +30% recharge rate, despite the arcane's description using the same wording as Fast Deflection.
Does this restore overshield?
Don't think so.
I can confirm that it does. I'm adding it to the notes
Freaking awesome! not i decided, my harrow defo needs this
It doesn't restore overshield. Tested with and without overshield. Proccing it with overshield just triggers the cooldown.
bruh, what DE have inside theyr minds? why the hell change to ON SHIELD damage? now that worthless piece of arcane is only usefull on hildryn, A RARE ARCANE now is only usefull on one warframe only, that makes me so pissed, farmed a lot for 2 maxed ones and now they are useless
Consider Augur Mods & Brief Respite, if you have a frame that casts a lot of abilities, this arcane can certainly still help you out.
Consider using the Redirection mod.
it is worth noting that it now has a cooldown that increases with the rank of the arcane; at rank 3 the cooldown is 4 seconds, at rank 5 it's 6 seconds.
Added, thanks.
After they changed tenno shields to resist all types of damage, gave everybody shield gating, and prevented everything except toxic damage from hitting health directly, this is more or less a must have for any shield heavy warframe. With Adaptation, you're basically unstoppable. Throw in Arcane Aegis for laughs if you want to stall even more.
Good thing Scarlet Spear's handing these out like candy...
So it actually is reduction and not resistance?
According to Adaptation's page, the calculation for the total damage % taken with Adaptation is
(HP type being damaged − (Lowest Damage Vulnerability) × (Adaptation %))
If shields have a 25% resistance, that would be:
If it were Damage Reduction it would be the expected 10% for health, but still 7.5% for shield.
Can't really test ingame if the Adaptation calculation is correct right now, but I'll just assume that the formula on the Adaptation page is erroneously using a 25% resistance for shields.
Mmm, that's news to me. The Damage Reduction page lists Adaptation as a simple damage type modifier. If it really works like that then it probably can't be called either a normal damage reduction or modifier, but rather something in a unique category.
Well, adaptation modifies the base damage type resistance to be that amount, so it still gets multiplied with pure reduction and is probably additive with other resistance mods.
But as far as I can tell, the tests were done before the tenno health/armor/shield changes. The calculation could be completely irrelevant now.
That info was added 2 days ago, so it should up to date. And if Arbitrary is the one that added it then it's probably accurate.
In which case, Adaptation seems to give Tenno resistances based off of their innate damage reductions. Those resistances then stacked with any other resistance mods. At least that's what I understood from it. Which is why I was saying Adaptation should probably be considered unique, since other resistance mods don't stack directly with it like normal, but rather with its product.
Or at least, assuming other mods don't work like that too. I'm curious how other universal resistance mods like Aviator act. Do their bonuses stack with the 90% from Adaptation, or do they add to the resistance after Adaptation?
WTF,it no longer triggers on health damage.
Wtaf DE?
When you wanna get a double set of maxed Barrier for your Hildryn and laugh forever
When Pillage is a thing and it removes all debuffs
How the fuck do idiots still think hidryn is bad vs toxin?
Shes literally immune you fucking retards
You will not have overshields 24/7
She's not immune to toxin damage.
"Nearly Guaranteed: 90 ± 41 captures"
Idk what u used to calculaate this, but i have around 150 hydrolist captures and I have never seen this mod ingame, I Just today found out it exists because someone was trying to sell it ( Probably because its god tier for hyldrin ).
I don't really need it or anything just find this interesting.
See thats the thing about RNG, that number absolutely nothing.
it means that after 90 attempts, only 1 out of a hundred tenno won't have it at least once.
the odds of going 150 captures without getting it at least once is 0.05% (about 1 in 2200)
plus 200 capture here and i only have one, rngesus is a dumb god, some of my friends have like 5 or 8 and no ever a energize but to me every 20 or 25 harry caps drop me one energize.
I have 162 caps and I got 13 barriers, 11 energize and 8 grace. The spectrum of people's personal droprates is really BIG. Might be someone out there with 80 platinum arcanes in 150 hydro caps and someone else with 500 hydro caps and not a single drop.
After Hildryn debuts Arcane Barrier will join Arcane Grace as one of the most sought after Arcane.
Not realy, or better, depends how her shieldgating exactly works. Adaption will not even be remotely enough to make her tanky and when she dosnt have some kind of extra, shield specific, damage reduction... well... i hope you dont want to go higher than pluto...
^ you are heavily over-estimating the difficulty of this game
I actualy don't think I have ever died with Hildryn, even without two maxed barriers
> i hope you dont want to go higher than pluto...
that aged well
So, what will be better on Hyldrin? This or Aegis?
generally speaking, you wouldn't use both because one of them gives more benefit, so why not use two of the one with more benefit? i don't know which that is, but it's unlikely that both provide equal benefits
I'd say one of each, since Barrier is technically better, but only the percentage chance increases so it doesn't benefit hugely from stacking since the effect stays the same, but dual Aegis shouldn't be as strong as one Barrier and one Aegis
I think two Barrier is the way to go, if you're min-maxing. It means you can skip the regeneration mods, for one, and I believe it will be a lot more reliable. I just did a test with one arcane Aegis and 6 slots filled with every shield mod in the game, plus a 7th used by Adaptation. With all of that and a riven'd Opticor Vandal built for Hunter Munitions, I was barely able to take out a group of 8 level 165 corrupted heavy gunners before they took me out (standing there shooting them while they shot me. Remember, Opticor Vandal has 100% stagger, too). I didn't use any of Hildryn's abilities, mind you. I was mainly interested in whether I would even need to attack at all, or if I could just stand there and laugh. I could not just stand there and laugh... at least not for more than maybe ~8 seconds (pure after-the-fact estimate. I wasn't tracking the time).
Again, that's if you're min-maxing. For general use, you can probably get away with an Aegis. A second Aegis may be a good idea simply to trigger the shield regen more often, but be aware that the 60/s from Aegis can't come close to the 598.5/s that a shield-built Hildryn can get. That's every shield and shield regen mod, using Vigor, not Primed Vigor. so triggering both of them at once isn't really the point, it's more for stacking their activation chances.
Regardless of whether you run one or two, playing Hildryn smart should allow you make her basically unkillable using Aegis. When her shield depletion invincibility activates, hop into operator void or get her behind cover until she's all filled up, and that should be enough for... literally everything ever.
The real advantage of Barrier is going to be freeing up extra mod slots.
You all forgot an important point between Barrier and Aegis.
Barrier will automaticaly reset Hildryn passive ability which is very strong.
Compare to that Aegis regen is very low to refull the 4k around about of shield.
Aegis can be OP if you abuse the system of low shield to quickly regen the passive ability of Hildryn. But a low shield mean you won't use any ability.
HIldryn with Adaptation + Aviator ( and maybe even + Agility drift + Aerodynamic ) make her more tanky than most Warframe. And the proc of Barrier an easy game.
If you want to shield tank you can use this and Adaptation. It does work but you have to have lots of shields and Adaptation.
So Redirection on Revenant, Mag, Harrow etc. :)
And now Hildryn.
Needs a buff.
A legendary fodder. Arcane Velocity cost more than this on the market
Amazing how one Warframe can change that! These bois are going for around 100-150 nowadays, and will likely drop in price drasticially when Hildryn is released and everyone is ultimately dissapointed.
price have sky rocketed to 600-700 as of feb 22. Bought a r1 for 100 plat. at rank 3 it only gives you 4 percent. Rank 1 with 2 percent may be small but it's constantly procking.
What platform?i gotta sell these muckers quickly!
This is very useless Mhm
