History[]
- Arcane Avenger was first introduced in the Trial mission The Law of Retribution, which was retired in Update 22.14 (2018-03-01).
- The Operation: Scarlet Spear event sold Arcane Avenger from Little Duck for 2,000
Scarlet Credits. - The Operation: Orphix Venom event sold Arcane Avenger from Father for 400
Phasic Cells.
Notes[]
- A Rank 5 Arcane Avenger adds 45 percentage points to a weapon's critical chance after other bonuses.
- Arcane Avenger stacks additively with other percentage point bonuses, such as
Covenant and
Cat's Eye. For example, an
Atterax with a max rank
True Steel,
Cat's Eye, and Arcane Avenger, will have a [25% × (1 + 120%) + 60% + 45%] = 160% critical chance on attacks.
- Highly effective with weapons with high critical damage multipliers.
- Weapons that have 0% critical chance can crit with this enhancement, although due to their lack of a critical multiplier, their damage will not be altered unless the shot lands on the head, which yields 2x critical multiplier.
- Aside from damage to shields and health, this Arcane can be triggered by the following instances of damage:
- Damage to player Overguard.
- Self-damage from
Combat Discipline. - Damage while the player is invulnerable, such as
Hysteria or
Absorb.
- Damage while
Mesmer Skin or
Mesmer Shield is active will not trigger this Arcane, unless
Combat Discipline is equipped.
Patch History[]
Update 35.1 (2024-02-20)
- Fixed certain Arcanes (including but not limited to: Arcane Avenger) having “0” in their Buff icons instead of the actual stat.
Update 31.6 (2022-06-09)
- ARCANE STAT CHANGES PER RANK
We’ve adjusted the values of older Arcanes with the goal of making lower rank Arcanes more viable, and more desirable while collecting as a result. In short, there are three stats that each Arcane tends to have (speaking generally) -- for example, a percentage chance, a stat buff, and the duration of the buff.
Certain Arcanes increase all of these stats per rank (making them scale exponentially), but we are changing it so that only one stat is affected by rank (making it scale linearly). The other stats will now be at the max-rank value regardless of the Arcane Rank, thereby buffing lower-rank Arcanes as a result.
- Arcane Avenger
On Damaged: 21% (was 4%) chance for +7.5%/45% Critical Chance for 12s (was 2s)
Update 16.0 (2015-03-19)
- Introduced.

Does it apply to atlas fists?
Yes
Sadly this Arcane is not activated by Hema's reload. Just tested it.
Self damage from abilities does not seem to work....garuda's 3 also does not proc this
Someone please confirm. I did a test in simulacrum and it seems arcane avenger now procs when shield is hit? Not overshield, not overguard, just any hit on the shield will do.
It works. Allways worked like that i think.
Would it proc from Nekros's Despoil augment?
Nope
I have recently noticed that Arcane Avenger is showing 0% whenever it activates. Has anybody else noticed this?
Noticed the 0 in the buff indicator as well. I'm not sure if it's just a visual thing though.
Instead of combat discipline, anyone tried Empowered Blades?
It only works on losing health I believe
Anyone got an idea if this or other arcanes work for robotic/sentinel weapons or other companion attacks?
Just tested in simulacrum with Nautilus (attack mod only), the Verglas a cold only weapon using hunter munitions with only 8% cc, and a frame with Arcane Avenger. Spawned enemies, watched the sentinel attack and proc a couple slash procs, got avenger online, but still no real difference that makes it clear Avenger is working.
In a 80 mag weapon that has a base 8% cc you should expect 1.92 slash procs after depleting the whole mag, 0.08*0.3*80=1.92 -> cc*hunter*magazine=expected.
You would expect with a flat +45% cc to increase this to 12.72 slash procs after depleting the whole mag, (0.08+0.45)*0.3*80=12.72 -> (cc+avenger)*hunter*magazine=expected.
The results showed the same ~1.92 result regardless of Avenger being active. This seems consistent with how other arcanes, such as Deadhead and Merciless, seemingly do not provide benefits either.
Works on damage to overshields btw.
Bro woke up on the wrong side of bed or something.
Its useful to point out it works on overshields, considering it doesn't work on regular (blue) shields
Checked in sim just now, there's no patch notes so possibility of just being a simulacrum bug, but it does seem to work for regular shields too
Kinda useful to clarify just because there's so much old word of mouth info on this game that's outdated or just always innacurate
2024 and i still hear people saying adaptation only gives DR to health
Combat discipline with this mod for infinite damage
Cool weapon with high crit damage but 10% crit chance? Boom. 55% crit chance for infinite damage!! example kuva nukor
They just mean that combat discipline (self damage on kill) makes it very easy to keep this arcane constantly active, not that it makes the arcane stronger
Even if you use Combat discipline to synergize with Arcane Avenger, it won't benefit you better than Corrosive Projection combined with Coaction drift. Unless you're spamming an armor strip ability, just relying on pure crits won't do much damage on highly armored units on the steel path.
The main purpose of this arcane is so that primarys with bad crit chances can use hunter munitions, the strongest mod in the game. (till slash gets nerfed) Slash bypasses the issue of armor on SP especially when combined with viral status procs.
The Formula is wrong.
25% × 1 + 120% + 60% + 45%
That is the right formula.
The one that is there adds up to 1.33 = 133% not 1.6 166%
Soooo... pls fix
"Mfs this aint maths class"
This is why your builds are bad.
How exactly do you know his builds are bad
Because he don't care about numbers obviously
He did care about the numbers, but obviously not about the brackets.
This page is wrong about Revenant, Avenger can be proc'd with Mesmer Skin active by using combat discipline. You will go down to 2 health and it continues to proc at health.
Updated, thanks.
Today I learned Combat Discipline can proc Arcane Avenger. Combat Discipline also is affected by any Damage Reduction on a Warframe. For example, Mesa's Shattered Shield will ensure you take on one health point of damage on kill and you get +45 crit to all weapons, including Peace Maker.
Shit.....silent hotfix coming up.
Just have fun wow its a game
But the fun wouldn't last or even exist if DE nerfs it, don't you see?
Next time, maybe consider using a portion of your brains before you speak, as you clearly aren't thinking soundly, or, you simply wanted to belittle someone to get your rocks off. Imagine being hushed while attempting to discuss common (and DOCUMENTED XD) knowledge on a discussion board where said knowledge is officially kept. Leave something for the children to do, will ya?
Does this critical damage chance apply to Warframe abilities as well?
Ash' 1 crits as well
Actually, I believe Exalted Weapons (Exalted Blade; Excalibur) and stat-stick dependent abilities (Landslide; Atlas) DO in fact benefit from Arcane Avenger, which makes this an immensely valuable arcane to have on these types of frames. Especially on frames like Atlas, whose "Exalted Weapon" has a 5% crit chance and depends on raw damage, and lots of it. A 45% flat increase in CC makes Landslide one of the highest damage dealing abilities in the game. Considering how it can make any status based weapon a hybrid, and any crit weapon a super-crit weapon, I'm surprised DE hasn't touched this arcane yet, and I'm even more surprised people aren't recommending this left and right.
Probably one of the best arcanes out there, thing is its so fucking hard to get
Its probably easier to just blow 200p than farm the eidolons...
Or do what I did and trade the energize I kept getting when I wanted this arcane instead
Worth using on Baruuk instead of arcane Guardian together with arcane Rage???
Both are fine i guess. But since baruuk heavy on CC, damage reduction/mitigation and evasion, might wanna reconsider since both only take effect when getting damaged
I got red critics consistently with landslide atlas on ESO solo but it seems to be broken in regular missions and simulacrum
I can feel that the critical percentage is added to the landslide but the combo counter seems to be reset even with the display showing 12x
Atlas can't lose health during landslide's dash (and thus can't trigger avenger). Is it possible that you aren't taking damage in most missions and in simulacrum?
This is untrue. atlas does activate this arcane during landslide, since landslide only blocks HEALTH damage. The arcane wil stil proc on landslide due to shields taking damage.
This allows the Nukor crit build to exist...
Oh yes, the power of the Kuva Nukor as well!
Does this Arcane trigger while in Archwing mode does anyone know - Railjack missions in particular
Pretty sure any equipped arcane works on Archwing, so long the conditions can apply to it (you don't have secondary/primary weapons in Archwing, for example).
Can this Arcane proc if you are getting damaged while you have Rhino's Iron Skin on?
Not unless they've changed something. Iron Skin is a layer before shields and health, it's like having a 3rd bar.
Must use combat discipline to work.
Now, 3 years later, it does :]
(due to overguard addition to Rhino)
this is my new religion
Is there a list of warframe abilities that can crit?
Exalted Weapons can crit
Anti-Matter Drop and Dread Mirror can crit. I believe Smite can as well, not sure though
Add this to your pet's build with high enough crit chance and a bunch of things that couldn't crit before will be able to: https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Tenacious_Bond
Mainly: psuedo-exalted weapons with 1x crit multipliers like slash dash will now benefit from having flat crit from arcane avenger because they now also have a 2.2x crit multiplier.
