Notes[]
- Encumber will only apply a max of 1 additional status effect per instant of time, similar to a very short cooldown.
- Multishot and Status Chance values over 100% do not bypass this limit, but more multishot does allow more chances of an Encumber proc until one succeeds.
- The average Encumber chance per shot can be calculated by: 1 - (1 - 24% × min(statusChance, 1)) ^ pelletCount
- Hitting multiple targets at the same time will only allow up to one proc for only one of the affected targets per instant.
- Explosions, Hitscan Punch Through (
Twin Kohmak), Beam Chains (
Kuva Nukor), Multibeams (
Ocucor,
Vermisplicer (Secondary)) and other simultaneous attacks will only proc up to once on a single target at a time.[1]
- Projectile Multishot (
Detron) will only proc once per small target because the projectiles typically strike within Encumber's cooldown.
- Explosions, Hitscan Punch Through (
- Delayed hits such as projectile rebounds (
Cyanex), embed delays (
Kompressa), and travel time punch-through (
Catchmoon (Primary)) can proc Encumber multiple times per shot because their hits do not always occur at the same time.
- Forced procs (
Hystrix) can trigger Encumber.
- Exalted Weapons (
Mesa's
Regulators,
Titania's
Dex Pixia) can not trigger Encumber.
- Multishot and Status Chance values over 100% do not bypass this limit, but more multishot does allow more chances of an Encumber proc until one succeeds.
- Random proc is uniformly chosen from the following and is independent from the weapon's damage distribution:

Update 33.0 (2023-04-26)
- Fixed primary target not receiving any bonus Status Effects from the Secondary Encumber Arcane while using a chaining weapon (i.e. Atomos).
- Fixed the Secondary Encumber Arcane unintentionally counting staggering as a Status Effect, leading to many unintended Effects being applied.
- This Arcane is intended to trigger only from Physical and Elemental Status Effects i.e. Status types which show on an enemy’s health bar.
- Fixed file path appearing in the Secondary Encumber Arcane’s description.
Update 32.3 (2023-02-15)
- Introduced.

Is there actually a timed cooldown on this arcane or is that first note just referring to the weapon's fire rate in an extremely vague manner?
So epitaph can theoretically trigger it multiple times per 1 shot since all the projectiles have travel time, and with low accuracy achieved through Magnum Force can hit different targets at different times?
Does this thing work with lavos augment valence formation tho?
Multishot indirectly helps this arcane to trigger more for non beam weapons, but on beam weapons multishot increases status chance and weapon dmg directly (to my understanding, in multiples). So it is better on beam weapons.
Correct, multishot on beam weapons is a flat multiplier on damage and status.
Since each hit only gets one 24% chance, multishot does not help encumber on beams except for the occasional damage proc because beams only have 1 damage instance unaffected by multishot.
This thing goes absolutely crazy on Kuva Nukor with Galvanized Shot
I got 8 milllion dps with it
Can you show your build please?
Mods:
Galvanized Shot
Galvanized Diffusion
Lethal torrent
Primed Pistol Gambit
Primed Target Cracker
Pistol Pestilence
Frostbite
Primed Heated Charge
Magnetic Progenitor (+60%)
Arcane Avenger + Combat Discipline (for 100% uptime)
Adarza Kavat w/ Cat's Eye (only 33% uptime unfortunately)
Secondary Encumber (obviously)
Unfortunately, this is mostly theorycrafting, as I do not have everything to set this up quite yet, and this only goes for unarmored units. It also takes ~1-2 seconds for it to ramp up.
(for armored units it is better to use Primed Convulsion or Jolt in place of Frostbite for Corrosive damage, but only if you have a Tauforged Emerald Archon Shard)
P.S. I may have made a mistake with my math, and the actual DPS may be much lower (or much higher. . .) so please check my math or test in game if you can :)
Just re-did my math, and I did make a mistake somewhere. My final result this time was only
5.8 million DPS
Sorry for the mistake, and I would still appreciate it if someone would check my work
Think you need dedicated frame to make the playible if you wanto go full nukor dps build. probb dont use the kavat but other bond mmods to suport the build...
Gonna slap this on my Grimoire with fire rate and fulmination to turn it into a monster status primer as well as a buffer for strength and shield or fire rate tome mods.
Thank you very much for this brilliant idea. Guys, read this.
Strongly recommend not using even primed fulmination for Grimoire, there is no effect on the alt fire, and the effect on the primary fire is miniscule due to its low base range. You're better off building to land direct hits and using that mod slot for something else.
Can trigger Primary Frostbite
Based on its wording the primary has to be the weapon to proc the cold effect so no it wont trigger frostbite
No, much like Cascadia Flare, Primary Frostbite does **NOT** require the primary to trigger it. You can trigger it from sentinel weapons, beasts with frost jaw, Warframe abilities such as Thermal Sunder, secondaries, it doesn't matter. Just that cold status happens. You're thinking of the specificity for Melee Influence, which requires MELEE electricity status.
Bonus, Shivering Contagion on a sentinel weapon like Verglas counts ALL of the spread cold. Enjoy

So basically, if I'm reading this right, you put this on a secondary shotgun like Brakk, every pellet has a 24% chance to trigger a random status effect off that list, and even if all of them hit, only one will actually trigger an extra status on the target in that one shot?
DOA arcane, strangled in development before it could even be good
Mmm, no, very unwise
The digital evolution urge to introduce a cool idea that doesnt work properly
Digital evolution
Before anyone keeps complaining this arcane is meant to be used with a status primer gun with high fire rate and with either AoE or chaining like the kuva nukor or the epitaph, so it can pump even more status to be finished off with condition overload or its galvanized variants. and yes it works wonders specially if you isolate a heavy enemy or an acolyte. like not everything is meant to be a direct damage upgrade.
Except it barely triggers any extra statuses because it was designed to be bad
Me with my 600% status chance Kuva Nukor and 16 fire rate:
"What's that?! I can't hear you over these Lancers screaming because they have 11 different statuses on them."
How tf you get 600% status chance?
Honestly has given me more value than it should since yes it doesn't do that damage to the element initially but it will continue to tick. combine that with citrine and you have a match made in heaven for effects. and yes beam weapons do happen to proc this more than since I don't have a lot magnetic on my weapons and get that up 10 more than I should count on something that lives long enough. So, in short, it's not going to change the crit meta but for stats builds it's better empowered in so many ways.
Useless for anything except as a status stick aid on Kuva Nukor
But status sticks are dumb, hence this is worthless
As of date, OP take is still very bad
As of date, OP take is entirely reasonable. Priming is completely unnecessary in all reasonable content, including SP. But if you do want to status prime regardless, this is good for doing that. As OP also said.
Fucking *serration* is unnecessary in all reasonable content, doesn't mean you shouldn't or don't benefit from running it. "Worthless" describes a lack of benefit. This arcane has benefit.
People here talking like steel path long runs lv9999 enemies is the principal content of the game, only sweats who read wiki and min/max like us care to this, the conclusion is:
Serration and any raw damage is god, join the church of big numbers in the upgrade screen
So even tho you hitr like 10 enemies it only procs on one? yikes.
The idea is to use it on high rate of fire, high status chance weapons to tag enemies with every status effect in the game and do ridiculous damage with galvanized mods stacking all the conditional damage % at once.
Doesn't work on exalteds
F
Time for yet another hiatus until Duviri is here
How did you expect to use an arcane on an exalted weapon?
Cascadia Flare works on exalteds even tho they have no arcane slot... So to be fair he had a point to bring this up
But a secondary arcane doesn't supposed to work with exalted weapons, waframe's arcane will work tho
it is important to write that this arcana does not cause any elemental damage, only status. not sure about the bleed stats like heat and toxin but it is possible to see that a corrective weapon does not deal magnetic damage with +75% efficiency to corpus shields.
this is very bad because it gives us the feeling that we are powerful but it doesn't work for the purpose of damaging.
[cascadia flare] and [secondary deadhead] keep to be more useful and easier to understand
Magnetic ticks don't deal damage to shields though, it works like viral does, just on shields instead of health. Plus this arcane has much more synergy with condition overload or galvanized equivalents, it's not meant for damage by itself.
@someone² understand. well I'll try it later with the incarnon pistol, if I'm not mistaken I read somewhere that [Galvanized Shot/Aptitude/Savvy] works differently for each weapon (multiplicative / additive damage). I'll wait for the wiki to update this description and the release of the new incarnon weapons, I'm too bored to go to the simulacrum.
My argument for why it is not as bad as you make it out to be:
-Viral increases damage to health by 100-325%
-Magnetic increases damage to shields by 100-325%
-Heat stuns and shreds 50% armor over 1s
-Corrosive shreds armor by 26-80%
These are barely the damage increasing ones
-Impact stuns and increases parazon finisher thrshold
-Electric stuns
-Cold slows for 50-85% (also making it easier to hit further shots on fast targets that are otherwise stun immune)
-Blast reduces accuracy by 30-75% (not very good, but it's something)
-Radiation makes enemies fight each other, dealing 100-550% increased damage to allies
Galvanized shot increases damage by 120% per unique status effect on the enemy, potentially giving up to 1560% bonus damage from encumber. You only need 4 procs that your weapons don't have by themselves to outdo even the strongest % base damage arcane (flare) at 480%, not counting any effects from the statuses themselves.
Cold also now grants bonus critical damage per stack giving you 10% on 1 stack and increasing by 5% per additional stack of cold, in essence this arcane is a primer's wet dream
How does it work with hemorrhage ? does that count as separate status that can trigger Encumber or not ?
Also why im the only one thinking about firerate/status chance sporelacer with its 8 separate hits ? (hit + aoe + 3xbomblet hit + 3xbomblet aoe)
My question but this F site is constantly logging me off, leaving this here to get notice
Idk but you need a lot of critical chance + critical damage to make [Hemorrhage] bleed numbers.
DE finally fixed this in [Hunter Munitions] introducing [Prymary Frostbit] but [Hemorrhage] still relies on critical damage and critical chance to deal significant bleeding damage.
[Hunter Munitions] and [Hemorrhage] increases slash damage only with critical damage + critical chance and faction mod (maybe some frame skill but not sure)
I dont realy care about slash damage, but procking most/all types of statuses using Encumber in the shortest time
Reading comprehension is a 20th century thing not a 21st century thing sadly
Made a fast firing, high status, high magazine, Rattleguts kitgun with Pax Charge.
It empties in 2s and can often proc all statuses in that time.
Is there anything better?
I mean, for status priming? Cedo, epitaph, etc
For damage? Cascadia empowered does more damage on my full status rattleguts than this
Cedo doesn't proc all statuses and I haven't seen a video of the Epitaph with Encumber so I don't know how fast it procs all statuses but I don't think it could proc all statuses very quickly?
^ since Epitaph is semi then it fast as your hand can go+%to proc. I use it and take like 5to6 shot to get gud. /I use r1 not the max
So if anything can better then it should be anything that have higher fire rate
Works with punch thro, meaning it's per damage instance, not per shot.
Every time projectile touches an enemy - new damage instance.
Explosion - also new damage instance.
Note the term projectile.
Hitscan can't proc multiple times with punch through. Simultaneous damage instances have a limit of 1 trigger.
Non-simultaneous damage instances (e.g. projectiles with punch through hitting two different enemies) can proc multiple times.
+Status duration% also affects the Encumber status procs. For example, Acrid's Toxin Sequence.
Cyanex or Epitaph as primer? Since ive seen how useless it is with Kuva Nukor when it only apply to one shot, and its a beam weapon
This arcane by nature is almost exclusively for single-targets. The most you'll get out of a shot is if it lands hits at different times. Explosive attacks can only activate the arcane for one enemy in their blast radius. You're looking to maximize fire rate and/or have odd-timed hits in a shot. Punch through on hit-scan weapons end up like the beams and explosives, their procs get eaten by collateral targets.
For enemy coverage:
A high FR, projectile weapon with modded punch through, Normal Dual Cestra (very long reload), Prisma Twin Gremlins (8.8 FR, great reload, good enough stats), Hystrix Prime (Free status slots for uptime and dmg). These will apply status effects very quickly and somewhat reliably get every single element.
Cyanex suffers from being slow, but it has built in multi-targeting. It's ok.
A Sporelacer built for high fire rate and status chance might be decent, its bomblets may get multiple procs per shot, with the catch that they may split among your targets in the blast radius. It still has the thing where Gibber chops off the contact damage lmao, so you're probably looking at a Ramble grib.
For single targets:
Dex Furis and Twin Grakatas, both tied for 20 Fire Rate and decent status chance are easily the fastest primers with Encumber, but punch through will split their effectiveness.
You may find that for mobs of trash, the traditional primers have not budged in tier because this arcane is gimped for target coverage, but it's fun to see big targets get painted with everything, like Demolysts. Good synergy with Galv Shot and Lavos' Catalyze.
I agree with basically everything RainyAura said.
For strictly a single target, I ran some calculations comparing Kuva Nukor and Dual Cestra and personally decided it's not really worth kitting a Dual Cestra for such a specific use case. Disclaimer: I'm not a mathematician nor a statistician, merely an ignorant casual, crunching numbers based on pre-university education math, please feel free to chime in with corrections. (Cheers)
Build:
Frostbite, Pistol Pestilence, Jolt, Anemic Agility, Barrel Diffusion, Lethal Torrent, Gunslinger and Sure Shot
Consider the following approximate stats (Kuva Nukor v. Dual Cestra)
Fire rates are ~32/s vs. 60/s. (Advantage Dual Cestra.) - Equates to maximally 32 additional status procs vs. maximally 60 status procs.
Multishot is ~2.8 vs. 2.8 (equal). (Intended to increase your chances of getting ONE proc per 'shot'.)
Status chance is 185% vs. 74%. (Advantage Kuva Nukor)
Approximate chance to get one proc per shot is (1 - 0.76^5.18) vs. (1 - 0.76^2.072) AKA ~75.86% vs. ~56.63%. (Advantage Kuva Nukor)
Approximate procs per second ~24.27 vs. ~34. (Overall advantage: Dual Cestra)
Assuming you land all your shots you'll see a larger amount of additional procs per second.
But given the nature of projectile weapons and the spread of multishot, it may be a hassle for what I would consider marginally better results.
The Cestra advantage would be punch-through'd let it proc encumber on more than just the primary target, whereas Nukor's encumber would be divided by anything nearby due to the chain. Cestra is sort of an extreme example though. I've been making this work on mildly high fire rate weapons like Twin Kohmak and it's been highly effective just as a DPS arcane w/ galv shot.
