Unfortunately, Zaws were kinda left behind in terms of stats.

You can either have good crit, good status, or an mediocre amount of both. Meanwhile, regular weapons have reached levels where they have both ridiculously good status and crit. I wouldn't build Zaws for a normal attack build, which usually make use of both crit and status chance.

The best Zaws will be Zaws that make proper use of Exodia Arcanes.

Exodia Contagion probably being the most popular one, as it allows you to throw a rather strong explosive ghost version of your weapon. Really fun as well.

I think Zaws for that build for pure crit and damage, so Varget II Ruhang and a slow, strong handle. Probably with Plague Keewar or Dokrahm as blade, but if you feel like throwing spectral katanas, go for it,
