Can I install Proxmox without an internet connection?
Here's what I want to do: I want to use my existing bare metal pfsense box for a proxmox host. The last time I did this, I still had the old ISP router during the proxmox install, so setup was painless. Now, I will need to take down my pfsense host so I will be offline while installing Proxmox and spinning up a new pfsense VM.
I will have console access, but will not have internet access during install. I will download both the Proxmox and the pfsense iso's ahead of time. I will also back up my pfsense ssd in case crap hits the fan!
So, can this be done? Does the Proxmox PVE 6.3 installer include everything I need to get the host up and running without internet?
Yes.
I had a few issues when trying to do that.
It's generally not a good idea to virtualize your router anyway, i'd recommend against going this route.
