Plastids are an uncommon component that can be found on Saturn, Uranus, Phobos, Pluto and Eris regions. It is usually found in quantities of 10 to 30.

Gathering Tips[]
These are based on opinions and may not be true. These should be viewed as advice unless proven undoubtedly true. Check the comment section for confirmation.
- The Defense mission Stephano on Uranus has a lot of containers and can possibly yield around 100 Plastids per 5 waves.
- Saturn is a good place to harvest Plastids, particularly Piscinas; it is an Infestation Survival mission and at the 20-25+ minute mark, it can yield a high amount of Plastids. Helene is also an excellent place to acquire Plastids due to being a Defense mission, as well as Nano Spores.
- With all nodes completed on Uranus, using a Titan Extractor on Uranus can give many Plastids and Polymer Bundle with ease. It also has a slight chance to collect 3-4 Detonite Ampule.
- Playing Multiple Rounds of Defense on Eris will usually yield a sufficient amount of Plastids if all storage containers and enemies are looted.
- Being Corpus-held locations, Phobos and Pluto are good places to farm Plastids as they also present an excellent opportunity to potentially harvest Oxium as well.
- While you're more likely to get the resources specifically from the area, Plastids can be found as a random drop in various chests on the Cambion Drift. If you're going there to get Plastids, Mother's bounties, particularly on Isolation Vault expeditions, provide a better opportunity.
- The quest A Man of Few Words will take you to missions that may yield Plastids during each stage of the quest. If you do not have the other farmable locations unlocked, replaying this quest will afford an opportunity to farm Plastids early-game.
- The Ascension mission of Brutus, Uranus has plenty of opportunities to collect Plastids; there are many targets to attack, and a lot of chests to open.
Notes[]
- Clan weapons hold one of the main reasons to farm Plastids, as components require bundles of 250 for each component. Since no planet lists Plastids first, and the fact that they drop in very low amounts, they are often considered the hardest resource to farm for, excluding rares.
- Some planets that drop Plastids often drop the first resource much more often, and coupled with the low amount per drop, this can lead to very long missions with little Plastids gained.

After almost 10 years, I am finally running out of this resource...

I just ran out, and apparently this is a hard resource to farm if using the recommended farming locations; I just got 687 after 25 minutes on Assur with Nekros.
As others have said, a good AOE weapon like the grattler in the 3 caves around the Catabolic Gutter usually net me around 500/600 plastids in 5 minutes. rinse and repeat
If anyone needs platids fast, i suggest going to cambion drift in deimos. The yellow/orangish cysts drops plastids a fair bit. Got 1k in 12 minutes of just shooting them in the caves. even without boosters

Limbo with Pull (1) - spam 4 and 1, Isos, Eris - cover entire map. 8min = 2214 plastids, just booster active.
Nekros with pull and only ripkas, 5 min = 700 plastids no boosters.

Just got 446 plastids in 7m 48s Piscinas Saturn with bonus +20% resource drop chance
I managed to squeeze out about 7000 at 50 minutes, so it does seem to be a very good place to grind plastids

So I still have 30 Fieldrons to go, and that's 7500 plastids... Wish I'd knew sooner. I have no boosters either.
I tried farming Nekros on Assur but it was 1000 for 20 minutes, not great. At least I got 1 Axi. I tried Itzal on Cambrios and it was 500 for 15 minutes because the ducking thing collapsed against literally everything.
So my last try was Xaku on Cambrios with Mag's Pull + Augment. It gave me 450 for 12 minutes. I stopped using Pull then I just slammed Sprint Speed on Xaku and bam, 443 Plastids on 7 minutes. My 4 on Xaku has 55 range, Pull is 25, it's just not near enough.
So my recommended method is, go Xaku with Loot Detector, Range, Energy and Speed (survability doesn't matter). Smeeta Kavat, and then loot the first cave to the LEFT of Necralisk (on the map), then when you get out the other side there's another cave. Farm that one too, then leave and repeat. This should give you around 1500 Plastids without boosters every 3 runs, plus a ton of useful resources for the family.
Before playing try anyways to idling on a blessing hub before farming, it's way more effective.
If you're still farming for Fieldron, one of the orb valius bounty rotations rewards 2 Fieldrons a few stages, consider farming that for an hour or so to get fieldron.
Uranus, Assur, Steel Path, Nekros + Khora, Smeeta Kavat, Relay Blessing + Resource Booster

Saturn - piscinas (dark sector)
Loot the entire map while killing enemies, should only take 10 min for 1k plastids
Highly recommend nova with neutron star for nuking and primed animal instinct on sentinel

Cambrion Drift cave farming (the 2x big ones next to the Catabloic Gutter) - Using the Itzal with max range to pull everything (cast twice) as each of the little red ball things gives energy (Even a low rank arcane energize can keep you topped up)
Run Time: 3 Minutes once you kind of know the spots.
Gain: 150 at my lowest, 800+ at my best (without booster/blessing)
Pros: Fast and easy ; You get a ton of random Deimos materials as well
Cons: Random/Inconsistent drop chance on Plastid, Son will constantly berate you for killing the fauna

5 billion plastids
This is by far the best way to farm plastids. The big cave on the right of the city exit then fly over the ravine into the smaller one. A run takes about two minutes and gives 500-2000 plastids.
Saturn Piscinas Dark Sector steel path survival got me 1.8k in 25 mins
