Lore
- Main article: The Deadlock Protocol
Protea was assigned to be the bodyguard of Parvos Granum, the Founder of the Corpus, as part of an undisclosed deal he made with the Orokin. When the Corpus Board of Directors betrayed him by attempting to assassinate him by sabotaging his transport's Void drive, Granum was saved by Protea's time manipulation abilities, trapping him in a temporal prison within the Void.
Recently, the Corpus' power structure has been declining, with the Board of Directors continuously reaching a voting impasse. After 7 successive tied votes, Nef Anyo invokes The Deadlock Protocol, a contingency initiative to instate a successor to the Founder. Seeking to prove that he himself is the genetic heir of Parvos Granum, Nef Anyo seeks to locate the Founder by tracking Protea, using Solaris workers as sacrifices for Void-temporal jumps to reach the Granum Void.
In an effort to thwart Nef Anyo's plans, the Tenno aids Solaris United and gets to the Granum Void before Nef Anyo's henchmen do. There, they discover Parvos Granum alive and well, and Protea who has become a literal Specter of herself due to overextending her powers. The Warframe Specter, reinvigorated by her kin, turns hostile and attacks the Tenno and Nef Anyo's fleet with an army of Errant Specters; Parvos Granum reveals that he had been using Nef Anyo in order to summon the Tenno to his domain.
Angered by Parvos Granum's deception and the threat of the Protea Specter, Nef Anyo calls truce with Solaris United and gives the Tenno the blueprint to the Xoris, a glaive fashioned with Parvos Granum's Specter Particle Theory. The Tenno are able to reach the Granum Void once more and use the Xoris to save the trapped Solaris workers and defeat the Protea Specter.
Notes
- When Protea wields her signature
Velox/
Velox Prime, the weapon's passive Ammo Efficiency is increased to 40%.
- Protea's custom dodge animation carries a higher impulse for forward momentum, enabling a slight increase in distance traveled when used on its own and in combination with other parkour Maneuvers.
Trivia
- Protea is a genus of South African flowering plants, also known as sugarbushes, which is named after Proteus, the Greek warden of sea beasts who could shape-shift at will.
- In this sense, Protea could probably mean versatile or ever-changing, reflecting her versatility.
- Prior to Devstream 137, she had a placeholder name called Odalisk.
- Odalisk probably comes from an Ottoman Turkish word odalık, which can be transliterated into odalisk, which is historically a chambermaid who served in the household of the Ottoman sultan.
- Protea's appearance seems to be inspired by historical odalık outfits.
- Protea is the 43rd Warframe to be released (excluding Primed and Umbra variants).
- Protea is the fifth of seven Warframes to receive a custom dodge animation, alongside
Limbo,
Hildryn,
Wisp,
Sevagoth,
Xaku and
Titania Prime. Her dodge animation is also unique since Protea performs an aerial cartwheel rather than a dash or roll.
- Protea is also one of the Warframes whose model would change upon using abilities, with the gadgets on her utility belt temporarily removed when deployed.
- All of Protea's gadgets are affected by her Appearance colors. Shrapnel grenades, shield satellites, artillery turret, and supply cache each have unique models with compacted and deployed versions, as well as customized animations.
- Shrapnel and shield grenades from
Grenade Fan are stored away in Protea's thighs, behind the side pouches of the utility belt.
- Grenades appear frequently throughout Protea's idle animations in various forms, from being rolled along Protea's arms and shoulders, to being juggled hackysack-style, or hit hockey-style when speargun primary weapons are equipped.
Blaze Artillery turret and
Dispensary supply cache deploying animations cause them to unfold from compact state in a transformation sequence.
- The supply cache was originally holstered on Protea's spine when not in use. Later in development, it was moved to the back of the utility belt to make room for Syandanas.
- Shrapnel and shield grenades from
- Protea and
Vauban were often referred to by the developers as close relatives, likely as a nod to their technology-themed abilities.
- Protea is the first Warframe with a built-in universal Aura polarity.

I get her 4 and how it can be useful as an "escape from death plus energy mode" but I find it annoying to use. fwiw, I put in breach on her 4 and it is so much easier and fun.
29th run of Extended Granum void yet no chassis bp. My finger itches to buy her using plat now
Today (July 12, 2024) got all Protea parts.
For anyone who are farming for it's parts,
1. Play mission according to this location guide: https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Granum_Void#Locations
2. After playing any mission change mission type e.g. was playing capture change to sabotage etc.
3. If no drop, repeat
Got all of the parts in a single day within 3-4 hours doing 10-15 runs on average for a single part. Of course the drop is based on PNG (Pain Number Generator) so YMMV heavily. No rush, take your time, do this as a side objective rather than main.
Happy hunting tenno! 💪
I just realized you cold make 1 sukunas domain expansion
Guys, if warframes are controlled by tennos, how come Protea was Parvus Granun's bodyguard?
Yea, before full transformation they were themselves, the process is slow. Umbra's quest and Dagath's lore got this on context.
Idk which point they lose their humanity, I say "full transformation" cause atm warframes are biorobots to be controlled, that once were humans.
I think the original proto-warframe probably had memories and haven't suffered like umbra, cause it isn't the body becoming someone/something else (like we currently do to make warframes, a lot of defense objectives are bodies in pods infected with helminth waiting to be transformed into known warframes) they were the original experience in the original body, until helminth paranoia takes over and they lose their humanity.
Prime frames are the original frames that were turned into warframes and used to be people, the non-prime versions are not made from humans are were controlled by the tenno
"Prime frames are the original frames that were turned into warframes and used to be people, the non-prime versions are not made from humans are were controlled by the tenno"
You would think but unfortunately not true. Based off of a few Levarian Entries and Varzia comments some frames were primed from the start and others were primed later. Can't really say if it's a retcon or not but that's what it is as it stands now.
50 more armor and 25 more energy
Pretty good!!! haha, Adding 1 Blue REGULAR shard XD give 3 x more armor.
Difference between 135 and 185 armor you never will notice. bout without overguard and regen of same just DONT have any utility.
People get Hyped not for difference of 10-30% increase of 2 stats (which is for some groundbreaking improvement) , but because of LOOK/fashion.
All Prime warframe dont have increased strength/efficiency , just miniscule increase of "mostly" useless stats. Look at Octavia and Octavia prime. Just l a tiny increase of shield and armor. If it was HP and energy it would be better.
Sadly most of people are brainwashed, and even dont welcome in squad frame if its not a PRIME
Energy to the balls, armor to the body. There you have it another sexy warframe.
Yeah, it depend on a case by case, you can't do generalities. Garuda prime has 80 more base energy than regular garuda, and with primed flow that's 228 additional max energy, or 91 more energy per 3rd skill (at 100% efficiency). It's not "cosmetic".
That user with the essay on 5/5 must have gotten made fun of for not having a prime and really took it hard with a reaction like that XD
Literally had to do 2 runs of each granum void to get her parts.
Is bragging reportable
^^^^
It should be
Lol
Lol tru
Neuro and Systems dropped quite quickly but the Chassis is 1.11% drop chance it seems i have done over 50 missions and still not dropped =<
Where did you farm the neuro? I keep doing (Granum Crown[Hydra])
Skyresh on Phobos for the neuro
I agree. I got the Neuro and System in less than 5 attempts. Yet the Chassis took more than 20+ times.
52 runs in, no part yet. RNG, what did I do to you to deserve this. :'(
That is actually just sad
Almost in the same boat. 40+ runs, nothing. Chances for success 99%+
Protea Prime when?
1st of may
She s up now
Chat is this real
Shat this is real
My wife
Relax bro
No shes my wife
Ok shitty horrible build i use: i subsume over her artillery with shock (and use shock trooper) then run around with the archgun the whole time; i use mausolon, then when an acolyte shows up i use my 4, use shock trooper (with molt vigor + the 100% strength passive), mausolon alt fire a clump of enemies, then detonate my 4 for about 4-5 million damage on the acolyte
Sounds like a lot of prep. I just run up to the acolyte killing it in meelee in less than 2 secs. Simple.
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES !?
I got ALL THREE BLUEPRINT WHILE DOING SOLO and it took me 6 TRIES !?
Me who has been doing 20 runs per day without it dropping once
I grinded for 30 hours at least to get her bruh you're lucky
I got all in around 30 mins :P
>https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/ku0juo/solo_protea_farm_setup_no_effort/
Go to Skyresh phobos (Capture mission) for normal granum void and granum crown.
Go to Adrastea Jupiter (Sabotage mission) for extended granum void and Exemplar Crown.
Go to Hydra Pluto (Capture mission) for nightmare granum void and Zenith Crown.
Duoed this with Mesas, 10 runs for all 3 at ~4 minutes each. 3 for Neuro, 5 For Chassis, 2 for Systems; pretty lucky for sure. Finish objective first in case of an oopsie... Wait till 4 minutes near exit to be sure of assassin and late treasurer spawns.
Assassins can follow inside the void, and die as it finishes, leaving the loot behind...
Honestly? the grind is not as bad as people make it out to be, only took 3 hours max for me and watching those big explosions from Xoris is one of the most satisfying things i've seen in this game
Overall an enjoyable grind.
(still no stropha blade tho even though it's actually the main reason i go there)
You can clean the Granum void so easily with Mesa and is even more satisfying
Yea 37 seconds on mesa to clear it easy
It's as bad as it is for the person grinding it. No-one can comment on anyone else's experience
Mind sharing how this is done in 37 secs, I just merged my alts and will be starting Mesa from rank 0 from resources gained and so effectively using her to acquire Protea, please share build/link(s)
Any advice on increasing her survivability? i don't have the 4 cuz i subsumed it with roar
I mean she not only can she refill her shields with her 1 she can also overshield you and the entire party, use that with your 3 and I'm pretty sure you should be settled, not sure if you need anything else, if you're talking high level steel path I mean try some builds online dedicatied to steel path
Yeah basically what the other guy said, but also, her 1 has a longer shield gate window. Use the decaying dragon key with rolling guard. When your shield breaks, cast the 1 again at your feet and that resets the shield gate if you have a bit of strength. Also, invert the hold function on settings so you just need to tap to get the shields back up instantly.
Her Shield Vortex is more than enough for survivability because you get free 5 sec shield gate
Also if youve got Guardian on your sentinel you kinda shield gate twice whenever its up and the cooldown can be reduced with manifold bond. Just plan your weapon status (or better yet use nourish and your 1 and 3, full viral + heat from turrets + slash from 1 gets 3 status up permanently with manifold bond)
Put Protea on the Duviri Circuit pls :)
Duviri circuit is only for warframes with primes already
I had Protea quite often available for the Circuit. It's just luck I guess.
Wdym "It's just luck I guess"? Protea literally isn't obtainable from the circuit at all
He probably meant as a playable warframe instead of a reward
I wish protea had cooler augments. I think a turret augment that allows it to work off the same principles as lavos' elemental mixing and matching would be neat for utility such as satisfying arcane conditions for example.
Armor stripping is good enough for me. =D
Her chassis took me like a week with 2+ hours every day it was NUTS. I'd rather farm debt bonds..
I have 73 Stahlta Barrel... just sayin....
Wtf T^T
So here's the thing I run over several attempts for each for granum void... I repeatedly play either pluto/spy or phobos/spy (since got some stocks of tokens). I did repeatedly the mission and claim every possible parts before gettin the BP. Every time I get a Bp of protea I change the warframe I used until get another Bp to change again(took 15 runs). I don't know if its a luck or chances.
