Notes[]
- The Galatine can be used to stun-lock enemies (a characteristic of heavy melee weapons), as well as land easy headshots with its overhead chops.
- As with other heavies, the overhead chops cause small AoE damage.
Tips[]
- Due to its
Slash damage, the Galatine is well suited for use with a Desecrate
Nekros. - The Galatine's reach is impressive, making it very useful when paired with
Primed Reach.
Trivia[]
- In Arthurian Legends, 'Galatine' is the name of the sword given to Sir Gawain by the lady of the lake. It is referred to as the 'Shadow to Excalibur's light'.
- The Galatine resembles the Power Sword from He-Man. This was acknowledged by DE in the Redtext before the update.
- Upon deploying the hotfix, the Redtext feed from DE described the Galatine as "a sword so big your friends might think you're overcompensating for something, while secretly they know you are not".
- The weapon's icon shows the Galatine with red energy, but the default energy color is the standard Tenno energy blue.
- The weapon itself is also shown to be mostly black, although the Galatine's default color is mostly white.

This sword must have for a new player (60 hours in game now) , junction easily be cleared (I'm at neptune now) Just spam e with toxin mod. It caused stagger / stun on enemy easy to kill stalker too.
Does standart attack combo has been changed? I remember it was 4-attack combo that showed in 0:22 Tenno Reinforcements video, but now it performing slightly different 3-attack combo
Be warned. Because of the way damage is calculated, Galatine deals 0 Impact and Puncture damage, and is prone to dealing less Slash damage than listed.
I seem to get plenty of Impact procs with it despite building it for viral and slash
If you're using Rending Crane or Tempo Royale, those stances have forced Impact procs in their combos.
excellent sword, highly recommend picking it up as soon as you reach MR3. if you end up with a decent stance mod too, could take it with you quite far.

If you're MR9 then you can use Galatine, it only has an MR requirement of 3.
But even if you were below the MR you can still farm for its parts, yes.
Unless youre talking about the Galatine Prime you can use it. But the normal Galatine only has a mastery requirement of 3 so you should be able to use it.

Still a perfectly good pick for an MR3 player that wants a solid heavy weapon. Definitely better than the Gram or regular Scindo, with a high ratio of slash to other IPS elements and better attack speed.

Can Galatine hit multiple targets without Cleaving Whirlwind?
Yes, guaranteed on spin attacks and possibly on normal button 1 attacks (possibly because it depends on Galatine's target maximum which is not shown here). And for future reference, spin attacks with any melee weapon (with the exception of Sparring types) will hit multiple targets, not just with Galatine.
Reach MR 3
build Galatine (any weapon you prefer, its my preference)
Get Maiming Strike, Cleavering Whirlwind, Fury and Berserker (your choices of mods)
Do spin attack or Ballerina attack
( Spin attack for crit buff on berzerk --> [lmb] + [lmb] pause [lmb] + [lmb] + [lmb] --> cancel combo with spin attack and repeat).
The Galatine never feel the same.
Or Galatine with Cleaving Whirlwind's Broken Bull spin attacks and your choice of mods. Will rank anyone up fast when used on high level enemies (sometimes one-shots lvl50+ enemies). Combine that with a speed boost, which I personally use my Volt Prime, Steel Charge, and Coaction Drift with this combo, to get the job done fast. Or replace the Galatine with War if you're dealing with enemies with high shielding.
Due to Galatine's already low crit. chance I wouldn't bother putting Maiming Strike and Berserker on though, save those slots for mods that will either increase physical damage or elemental damage/chance.
^maiming strike is additive flat 90% crit chance increase so with slide attacks galatine will have 100% crit chance and therefore guaranteed berserker proc with each slide attack. I don't see why you would not use them unless you don't like doing slide attacks. With primed reach those guaranteed crit slide attacks can clear groups easily while giving you speed buff.
This is true, but I personally don't need Berserker's speed buff (which caps at +75%) because Volt's second ability gives a greater one, plus I don't need to rely on critical hits to activate it. Also, Galatine's crit. multiplier is only 2.0x while Broken Bull grants a bonus 300% damage (a total of 400% damage). I can also perform Broken Bull 7 continuous times rather than having to perform slide attacks, which require the player to get some sort of running or walking start before executing the slide.
If you could get crit. chance up to 200% or 300% rather than just 100% in order to start seeing red crit. numbers then sure, I might put Maiming Strike on my melee. Sadly just 100% to crit. with a 2.0x crit. multiplier is actually a downgrade to the damage that I can already do. And due to the fact that Galatine is a long sword I already get plenty of range, even without Reach or even Primed Reach. Instead of wasting a mod slot and capacity on range I simply increase damage or attack speed.
But the build you two are suggesting is very clever, in fact it would be extremely OP on most other melee weapons that have high crit. chances and base attack speed. It could easily take down high level enemies in just a couple of seconds or less. If I didn't main with just Galatine and War, and instead used sword or dagger weapons again then I would likely use this build.
