Noise Level, measured in meters, determines the distance at which an enemy will be alerted by any given weapon or ability. Noise levels can be reduced if there is any obstruction between the source of noise and the target. Weapon noise is a key component of Stealth and must be considered when doing stealth missions. Noise level is independent of the sound a player hears; a weapon can sound loud in the game (e.g.
Opticor) but be perceived by enemies as completely silent.
Stealth killing enemies will produce sound that travels about 5 meters, and any enemies within that radius will become automatically alerted for about 20 seconds, including melee finishers under stealth.
In the Arsenal, the noise stat will only appear if the weapon is "silent". If the stat does not appear, then the weapon is considered "alarming".
Enemy Reaction[]
Enemies who hear noise will become alerted to the player's presence and will react in one of five ways. An enemy may choose to:
- Locate the nearest cover and hide, waiting to ambush players if they get into range
- Run to the source of the noise and then search the area
- Run to activate a Control Console to sound the alarm in the area
- Run towards the nearest Arctic Eximus when shields are deployed
- Run to a Nullifier Crewman in the area and hide in the shield that was deployed (this only applies to Corpus enemies)
Enemies who are not killed in one shot or very briefly after being hit the first time will become alerted. Therefore, silent weapons that are not powerful enough to do so, are better utilized to prevent enemies from detecting cloaked players who need to destroy objectives, Sensor Bars or Security Cameras.
Enemies that have heard an invisible Tenno's gunfire will attack in the area where the sound was made.
Shooting a silent weapon within ~6 meters of an enemy or at the terrain near an enemy will cause them to stop and look around, but will not change their actual alert state.
Reducing Noise[]
Noise level of weapons can be decreased with
Hush for rifles,
Suppress for pistols and
Silent Battery for Shotguns. Melee weapons, with the exception of Gunblade gunfire, are silent by default.
Banshee's passive innately silences any weapon she has equipped, and her
Silence ability causes all affected enemies to be deafened in an area of effect, preventing enemies from hearing any source of noise even from Banshee's allies.
Loki's Syndicate augment
Hushed Invisibility acts as a 100% noise reduction for all weapons while using
Invisibility.
Codex and Arsenal[]
Codex entries and weapon statistics only have 2 listed noise levels; Alarming and Silent. Placing a 25%, 50%, or 75% reduction from
Hush or
Suppress will not display actual changes in this notation. Many weapons are also listed incorrect or misleading by the codex, such as the
Latron Wraith being listed as Alarming, but acting nearly silent.
Ivara's
Prowl follows the arsenal listing for a weapon's noise level regardless.

When are we getting a silent mod for arch weapons
I have to wonder, if 2 players ar shooting constantly and only one of them has a silent weapon, would it cause new enemies to focus the loud player first when they hear players before they see them?
I'm an old player, the gunblade indeed silent in the passed, using redeemer shot never trigger enemy attention, but the latest update seems change this fact, even the vastilor post innate silent is wrong, please update on this
Hello
Cantic Prism, Mote Amp, Shwaak Prism, Rahn Prism are all listed as Alarming on the wiki but Silent within game.
I have no idea how to edit wiki pages properly and thought this was the best page to mention this.
Thanks.
Stealth doesn't even really exist in warframe anyways, for an assassin ninja game its not well implemented and impossible to pull off
I does exist when I play SOLO; When when played whith dummies that bring a Rhino in a Spy Mission with an Ogris or any AoE weapons but that YOUR point of view. By a guy who start with a LOKI (yep it was possible in 2013 :p)
Stronk havink a btroke. Call a bondulance
A list of made silent weapons "*baza prime*" would be nice but i dont see a list at all, we guess what weapons a built already silenced i guess?
https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Silent
Most of the stuff here are very outdated. There are only "full-blast" and "no-one-will-ever-hear-it-even-when-it's-blasted-right-in-front-of-them" levels now.
Um, "measured in meters" ?
Where? Where do I even find these values anywhere? And is Hush/Suppress a 25% chance base of the noise not coming out, or is it a radius reduction of that alleged value I can't find?
stealth in warframe: dont even think about it, just swing a whip or polearm around and no one will be there to notice it. that's stealth
what about status effects? do they make noise? which ones? will electricity/radiation alert enemies?
Radiation will alert enemies by proxy of them attacking their allies.
>Stealth Melee Takedown >Alerts Enemies in 5 Meters Radius
Thank DE it's gone now
Melee weapons are not necessarily silent if you hit terrain around an enemy. I hit the floor with my guandao near the enemy without damaging them and while invisible and they were alerted.
Yup, this is very true.
heh, I was levelling my javlok and banshee prime the other day, and as I fired at this one lone grineer lancer, I happened to miss 7/8 times (I've noticed heavy caliber has a very noticable effect on launchers, compared to other weaponry where it is more managable). But due to banshee's passive, the lone lancer did not notice the seven fireballs whipping past his head and continued to pace around aimlessly.
Latron Wraith is NOT silent anymore.
So, if you've silenced yourself, can you stealth attack without detection?
Read the page carefully. Let's say you are under loki's invisibility with or without hushed invisibility (assuming if no the weapon is silenced instead) and you kill an enemy in one shot. Other enemies within about 20 meters that were looking in that killed enemies direction will enter a cautioned state of alertness for a little while. If another enemy was within 5 meters of that killed enemy they will also be alerted regardless of which direction they were facing.
Either way, enemies will not know where you are specifically unless you were previously already seen by some enemies, in which case damaging them may cause them to rush to your location and point their guns directly at you regardless if you are invisible or not. That is a major flaw of enemy AI that still has yet to be addressed.
i meant melee stealth attack.
Melee is always silent, outside of the unavoidable 5 meter minor alert caused by any enemy death at all.
Currently, an alternative for Shotguns is to use Loki with your shotgun. It works, but I don't recommend using a Syndicate one as the explosion will alert ennemies
You could also use Banshee, though you need to make sure you have enough range on it.
This page should probably have a list of every weapon, sortable by noise level.
Agreed
I would enjoy this.
I second this motion
How is this still not done?
we need a shotgun version...
so badly.
In all fairness, there is no silencer that works like hush does. Real silencers (or suppressors, both more professional and acurate word for it) prevent the sonic boom from occuring as the bullet leaves the barrel. The sonic boom is distinctive, incredibly loud, and can actually be felt to an extent.
This doesn't change that the bullet is accelerated with a controlled explosion - innately loud. It also doesn't prevent the mechanical noise in automatic and semi automatic weapons.
The lone tenno above me is correct. Current silencers reduce most gunshot's volume from the level of "Airplane taking off" to "yelling at close quarters", in terms of decibels.
There are few outliers to these measurements, such as very light and low velocity ammunition (.22 rifles), or very custom designed weapons (VSS Vintorez comes to mind, there's no actual barrel on the rifle as it's technically just entirely a supressor that you slap onto the loading tube) that can actually start to get within the comfortable to hear range, but they're by no means 'silent'.
here, a SUPPRESSED(Yes, I'm a firearm junkie) shotgun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFFAcHQE8xg Also if a freakin' Tonkor has no splash damage to the user and can suppressed then so can a shotgun.
Lo and behold, they added one: Silent Battery
i charged up my angstrum wi maxed barrel diffusion and supression
i charged max to kill just 1 guy (who diddnt noice me)
and it all missed and explosions happened around him
"did you hear that?"
"nope"
what about melee ? I tested striking in the air with a tenbo, this alerted ennemies within 25m ...
breaking containers with silent weapons also alerts ennemies
So far as my expirience goes, and I've been around for quite some time, melee weapons (sanz thrown explosions) never alert enemies. It's possible they simply saw you.
no, they definitly hear it my dude. one guy in a hallway, facing away and on the other side. i pop a polymer case open with dual ethers and instantly whips around and begins firing at me
These comments are over two years old, dude. No need to nekros them to try and correct them on something that didn't exist up until a few months ago.
