Archons, also known as Sentient Beasts, are Sentient creations of Erra hybridized with Warframes, each with special powers including the ability to raise dead Sentients. Their Sentient cores take the form of shards embedded in their necks. They serve as Narmer's bosses during The New War and Archon Hunts.
Lore & History[]
Tau System[]
Originally created on Tau, the Sentient Beasts were modeled after animals of old Earth: Boreal the Owl, Amar the Wolf, Nira the Snake, and Pazuul the Ram. With the Ram acting as the de facto leader, the Beasts served as peacekeepers as the Sentients terraformed the system.
The New War[]
After fighting and dying during The Old War, they were resurrected by Erra, grafting their heads onto fallen Warframes and later serving as Narmer's Archons. The Beasts, however, deemed this act shameful, blaming both the Tenno and the Sentients and grew vengeful against both parties.
Boreal, Amar, and Nira were subsequently killed by the Drifter/Operator, with the help of Hunhow and the Stalker, in hopes to use their shards to revive the Lotus.
Archon Hunt[]
After Erra sacrifices himself to aid the Tenno following his defection from Narmer, Pazuul grafts itself onto Erra's corpse. The Ram, acting as a parasite that keeps Erra's consciousness suppressed, becomes the new leader of Narmer and revives the other Archons.
Known Archons[]
- Archon Boreal: A
Loki Prime fused with the head of an owl and armed with the
Korumm.
- Archon Amar: A
Rhino Prime fused with the head of a wolf and armed with the
Nepheri.
- Archon Nira: A
Mag Prime fused with a serpentine body and head, and armed with the
Verdilac.
- Pazuul: Following the end of The New War which resulted in the death of Erra, Narmer reanimated his corpse with a demonic ram head, who now serves as the leader of Narmer.
Damage Resistance[]
Archons fought during Archon Hunts possess DR that scales depending on your weapon's DPS.[1] There are three layers of damage reduction. The first layer is a flat 20% damage reduction that is applied before the other damage reduction stages are applied. The second layer is a static damage reduction (unchanging over time) that scales each damage instance, and is determined based on the following weapon characteristics:
- ,
“Theoretical Damage” is the damage instance that would be seen in-game if there were no layer 2 or layer 3 damage reductions. This value includes the layer 1 flat damage reduction, it includes criticals, and it is calculated per damage instance. This stage will effectively limit damage per trigger pull to 460,000.
The third layer is a dynamic damage reduction (changes over time) that is calculated per game tick. This stage will only activate if the Archon’s health is reduced by more than approximately 495,000 within a window of 0.6 seconds. After this damage trigger has been reached, on the next game tick a changing damage reduction is applied that will respond to how much damage is dealt over time.
Trivia[]
- Archons are similar to the Corpus made Amalgams, in that they are both hybrids created with Sentient tech.

I want the option of summonable Archons in place of other players
Why we don't have info of them in the codex?
DE too lazy to add the dying codex and because people doesn't read codex.
Does Tau damage and Tau resistance work versus these non-sentient representatives of Tau?
I swear these guys have like 10 million hp at least
And almost armour
And almost armour
10 mil is nothing X_X
No way these guys have 10 mil
My Kuva Nukor does almost 6 mil a second
There's now demonic element in warframe lore? guess it make possible future content
Th sentients were demons all along.
U were a demon all along :D
Can anyone confirm if they are affected by faction damage mods and what the best elements to use against them are?
They're sentients, so only roar gives faction damage. Primed Bane of Sentient when DE?
Sacrifical mods are sentient bane tho???
They are but if you buff it with Xaku’s first ability, it increases the damage to Sentients
Hey Titania lovers, stick an archon mod on your warframe, mod your diwata element appropriatley (cold for archon flow, electric for archon stretch etc) and your razorflies will trigger the mods foy as a bonus.
Useful, thx !
Seems like damage is both boosted and gated by time? My Buzlok tag beacon was doing over 100k damage for the first tag while the following shots was only fluctuating between 10k-50k depending on the time they took to reach the dang beacon. And after 3 years of reloading and a few more for getting the second tag in, the tag did over 100k again while the shots immediately after got only 10k in.
People say Sharpened Claws works on these
Is it true?
Now it looks cool, though it's tightened, but we are waiting for the nerf as it was with the wolf of Saturn 6, which is now just a rag for beating.
Does shattering impact work on Archons?
No
Archon names here are based of the mythological figures across the world. They are:
Archon Nira is named after the Mesopotimian god who serve as the messenger of Istaran, the god of Der, in which he is depicted as the the snake, fitting for Nira's snake theme
Archon Amar is named after Amaru, the giant dragon from Andean myths. This might be referring to his long sentient body, although Amar is wolf themed. His name might also comes from Amar Godomat, the bowman from Serer stories. In the stories, Amar Godomat killed Abu Bakr with his bow near Lake Cayor or Tagant depending on the stories. Either coincidence or not, in the drifter part of the New War quest, they were given Nataruk bow by Hunhow to hunt down the archons and take their power to save Lotus/Natah
Archon Boreal is named after Boreas, the god of north wind, which already mentioned in his trivia. But Boreal name also comes from Boreal Owl, the owl species native to North America, in which Boreal's head comes from.
Archon Pazuul's name is obviously comes from Pazuzu, the demon from Mesopotamian mythologies where he was described as both protector and destroyer. Funnily enough, Archon Pazuul being the leader of the Narmer Empire is also nod Pazuzu's high authorities among lilu wind demons
The Nira name comes from Nirah (almost forgot to write it)

PSA: Use incarnon weapons, their 2000% dmg seems to bypass damage attenuation. (Note: worked in Hotfix 32.0.1, using the Phenmor.)
Kuva Hek with stacked galvanized modifiers is also capable of one-shotting phases with its alt fire if DE patches out the devouring attrition perk ignoring damage attenuation.
As of... recently, idk exactly when, this no longer bypasses DA. It's so joever. I recommend high ROF high crit weapons now.
What about Archon Erra
Its not out yet so it is not conformed.
I told you! I told you! an ARchon!
Call the ship, smartass!
It’ll be there! Just run!
Nah just rip and tear until it is done...or just shoot it
I hope we will see more of those in future. I really enjoyed their appearance and fight in general. It would be nice, If they were implemented as a new type of boss. Maybe resistant to warframes, so you would have to fight them only in operator/drifter form. Which, let's be honest, would still be very easy. But, with some treatment for them, to be as powerful as eidolons, it might be fun.
A Sentient Lich will be a interesting one, if Angels of Zariman added the Kuva lich system to sentients, we might get archons of our choice
Well the kuva guardians can only be fought in operator/drifter to remove their invulnerability
Little did he know that we would, in fact, get to see more of the archons, and that they would also be buffed up to be stronger than eidolons, and the end result would be THE most tedious content Warframe has ever seen. Talk about a monkey's paw.
Challenge for players who want "Endgame", and return of an existing element from the past
So to sum up their creation:
Erra took some fallen warframes and grafted some sentient parts on top of them.
Which somehow seemed to give the result special powers.
And served as a testbed for the creation of Caliban
Caliban (in it's current state) could be argued to be a downgrade to the archons, if archons could be controlled by the operator.
Well, Caliban was apparently made during the Old War, since one of his helmets states that it wasn't seen since "the Old War."
Dont try to make sense of all of this... they just did whatever the fuck they thought would just look cool regardless of the reasoning behind it and how it fits in the lore...
hey man, just because you clearly don't like caliban, doesn't mean it's simple as "the rule of cool" so don't project your opinion as fact. for all we know, caliban could've been a failed specimen, leading to the archons
I actually really enjoyed their boss fights in the quest (especially Nira's; Amar was kinda easy) and was kinda disappointed how the final one (Boreal for me) is just completely overpowered by you once you get your Warframe back.
The only thing that gets me is that Boreal's name is all about the cold, but he uses Electric damage. Ah well :)
I started with Boreal and it was fun, but also slightly annoying, maybe because I hadn't figured it out at that point.
Tho Amar's fight was pretty fun as Drifter.
It really shows how powerful we are even at the start, jackal as warframe was easy (i know it was the first boss but still) , jackal as vest was actually kinda hard.
Nira: Oh, god, run and shoot, run and shoot! Boreal: Well you're just all kinds of suck, aren't you? Amar: FINALLY! NOW YOU FACE MY TRUE POW- oh, he's dead already.
IMO decimating the third archon was kinda satisfying 'cause when you fight the first two you're severely handicapped, you don't even have your void powers let alone warframes and weapons. Then you fight the third and remind them how the tenno were capable of committing genocide to the two most powerful races of the system.
I want the head of nira so much as a custom skin on my warframe please DE
It's honestly going to be quite complicated to say the least.
Nothing complicated, they are all consider the head, so just change the helmet like we do now.
Rhino amar skin, yes please.
Not likely though
More like Rhino Amar Helmet and something in the Auxiliary slot
I'd rather love to see them as sentient assassins rather than theese uncreative bounties...
3 Archons could drop 3 weapons and 3 Caliban parts - one per
Genuinely id prefer to be able to play as these rather than caliban you could of made it something like the crystals were harnessing void energy which is why they didnt go toxic when they were hit by the sirroco or however you spell the weird amp gun. and because youre a weird void baby you can make them work similarly to warframes, they could've given them the same kind of passive as umbra where if your out of them they run around and kill things
Same
Sentient assassins? Sure. they spawn like acolyte 1 every 5 minutes. See how you feel when you can't get the item you want... until ages later.
Or at least normal assassination missions, especially since caliban and the archons were both made by Erra
