- Hildryn expends
50 shields or overshields to equip her Exalted Weapon energy rocket launcher sidearm, the
Balefire Charger. The Balefire Charger consumes
100 shields or overshields to fire an energy bolt which explodes on impact with enemies and surfaces.

- Base damage is
100 / 200 / 350 / 500 per hit.

- Shots have a 150% critical multiplier, with a 5% critical chance and 10% status chance.
- Shots can be charged to increase the damage inflicted, at the cost of consuming more shields:
- Scales with the amount charged, up to a maximum of 100% damage and
450 shields at full charge. - Has a charge time of 2 seconds.
- Scales with the amount charged, up to a maximum of 100% damage and
- Shots have a fire rate of 0.833 rounds per second.
- Shots have an explosion radius of
1 / 2 / 2 / 3 meters. - Damage is affected by Ability Strength and most secondary weapon mods.
- For example, with
Hornet Strike,
Convulsion and
Intensify equipped, each shot will deal
Base Damage × (1 + Damage Mods) × (1 + Elemental Mods) × (1 + Strength Mods) =
500 × (1 + 2.2) × (1 + 0.9) × (1 + 0.3) = 3,952 damage. - The mods that affect Balefire Charger include:

Pistol Amp and
Hornet Strike) - elemental (e.g.,
Convulsion) - multishot (e.g.
Barrel Diffusion) - critical (e.g.,
Pistol Gambit and
Target Cracker) - status chance (e.g.
Jolt) - fire rate (e.g.
Gunslinger) - faction damage (e.g.,
Expel Infested) - punch through (e.g.,
Seeker)
- However, the projectile won't deal any damage while traveling through enemies.

- Range mods and Fulmination bonuses multiply. A fully ranked Balefire with Fulmination and Stretch will have: 3m × (1 + 24%) × (1 + 45%) = 5.4m, but Fulmination's effect will not be reflected on the ability card.

- Balefire can not be equipped with Acolyte Mods (e.g.,
Sharpened Bullets) or Amalgam Mods (e.g.,
Amalgam Barrel Diffusion). - Riven Mods are not generated for the Balefire Charger.

Aegis Storm is active, a second Balefire Charger will be equipped on Hildryn's left arm when using this ability. This is a purely cosmetic effect, and does not provide any tangible combat advantages. - Balefire Charger can be used while riding a K-Drive by activating the ability before mounting the K-Drive and then switching to the secondary weapon as usual.

Does this count as killing enemies with the ability? Can archon mods be used with this?
Charging doubles damage but has more than four times the cost... Am I missing something or charging just bad?

this weapon has become very useful and fun for me, easily handle enemies below lvl 90 just due to crazy amount of damage. the quickfire is so much better than charging this. my build is efficiency and maxed out range with a touch of strength. then on balefire build for raw damage and get lethal torrent and anemic agility to make it shoot at a decent pace and voila now you have an ogris with regenerating ammo and a huge ammo pool, nice

This is a discount, out of production, outdated, low-tech, Chinese knockoff and more expensive gameplay-wize version of Staticor...why?
dude... staticor has 352 base damage, this has 500 without even building any power strength. balefire can reach much higher damage than staticor, it just can't be spammed as much. It's got its uses, it's not even expensive if you don't fire charge shots (and you should never charge shots, it takes too long, costs four times the shields for only double damage)
"outdated lowtech chinese knockoff" You telling me the balefire that scales off power strength mods that nukes enemies under level 90 and is fueled by an ability that strips shields/armor with 0 forma is somehow worse than a staticor?
come back to me when you can equip magnum force on your staticor and not suck.
The biggest advantage of balefire is huge radius (range mods+primed fulmin) that does NOT knock you down
Its important to remember that the damage from this gun scales from power strength as well as the mods put in it.
And the explosive range of its shots do scale with warframe range mods, so you can almost double your range with a range mod or two
So you're saying I can halve it's uselessness?
