Release Date: October 25th, 2012
Volt has the power to wield and bend electricity. He is highly versatile, armed with powerful abilities that can damage enemies, provide cover and complement the ranged and melee combat of his cell. The electrical nature of his abilities make him highly effective against the Corpus, with their robots in particular. He is one of three starter options for new players.
Acquisition
Volt is one of the three starter Warframes, alongside Excalibur and
Mag, during Awakening.
Volt's blueprints can be researched from the Tenno Lab in the dojo.
Volt can also be bought complete from Teshin for 60,000 once players have achieved Typhoon rank in the Conclave.
Historical
- Prior to Update 12.0 (2014-02-05), Volt's component blueprints dropped from Survival missions.
- Prior to Update 11.0 (2013-11-20), Volt's component blueprints dropped from J3-Golem on Themisto, Jupiter.[1]

Trivia
- The volt is a measure of electrical potential, a type of potential energy that could be released if an electrical current is allowed to flow, hence Volt's electrical essence.
- During closed beta, Overload was notoriously overpowered as a result of a bug that would allow the lightning to daisy-chain throughout a level, killing any enemy that had spawned.
- Before Update 7 Volt was one of the 3 initial starter Frames. He was replaced by
Mag due to a desire of the developers to have a female starter. Volt then replaced
Loki as a starting Warframe in Update 14.
- Volt has had three drop changes since Update 11; prior to Update 11 his components dropped from the J3-Golem on Jupiter. After The Hunt For Alad V, his components were moved to Survival mission rewards, making him the second Warframe obtainable through regular mission rewards (the first was
Banshee). Update 12 moved Volt and Banshee to the Tenno Research Labs, and the both of them have remained there since.
- The rings on Volt's arms are considered customizable armor parts and will be removed if any other arm plates are used.
- Volt is the first Warframe to receive 5 Augment Mods, 2 of them being Conclave exclusive.
- Volt's Neuroptics is a requisite ingredient for
Chroma.

- ↑ "Volt's blueprints added to Mission Reward tables. We would like to clarify here that the original U11 notes suggested that his former Boss, J3Golem, would be dropping them in systemic invasions. This is no longer the case, and his parts can be found by playing various missions." - Update 11.1 (2013-11-27) notes

Azokat az üres erekjék mikor lehet farmolni amiből a Volt Prime részei szerezhető?
The rework I want from him is update on default skins or change in textures... Come on, we can't make him look decent without any tennogens??
They should rework Volt's fourth ability to deal a billion trillion damage and kill every enemy that could be, has been, and will be. Thoughts?
100% bro
Nah just apply Electric status to all enemies affected.
I love volt and all, but...come on. he gets no love from DE in the opening cinematic lol, mag and excal have all their abilities on full display with their own part of the opening cinematic, showing how powerful they are, and then when it gets to volt, it just switches to a segment with all three frames, and volt is barely on screen! like, come on DE. I had to search for volt to find him in the cinematic. justice for my boy!
True
Would be awesome if shocks proc range was higher like amprex is
Seems with the new elemental damage weakness/resistance changes coming in next update, Volt and Gyre will be massively buffed.
Bye Bye -75% electric damage on Alloy Armor.
This is an amazing feeling! Grye and Volt have both seemed very cool concepts that got gutted by damage resistances and armor as a whole
Is the shock interaction with discharge bugged? I did some testing but it was hard to see any actual higher damage numbers
Yes its bugged. I have done extensive testing on it, and its safe to say it doesnt work. The visual effect still appears, but no additional damage is being dealt. Here is my test that proves it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/yow6te/volt_synergy_between_1st_and_4th_ability_not/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Also here is a bug report I made: https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1402921-volt-ability-synergies-shock-on-electric-shield-shock-on-discharge-not-working/
Hopefully they fix it.
Yes I agree. I never EVER saw higher damage numbers. Were we lied to or was this a bug since his re-work 8 years ago?
All these videos on which starter frame to pick and none mention how used Volt is
Volt is the best warframe for beginners. He allows you to group/solo eidolons, as soon as your amp is unlocked.
Why is his subsume not speed?
"Core ability" doesn't necessarily refer to a warframe's strongest ability, but rather what gives the warframe its identity and makes it feel unique. For Valkyr, that's obviously Hysteria. For Rhino, it's Iron Skin. Mirage, Hall of Mirrors. Sevagoth, probably both his augmented Reap and Exalted Shadow.
I'm not even sure i'd agree with that, especially because it has the bias of hindsight. How does the abilities I mentioned fail to give them an identity that makes them feel unique?
To put more focus on the comparisons, Why is Rhino's Roar less a defining ability then Rhino Charge? Why is Warcry less of a defining ability then Ripline or Paralysis? Why is Sevagoth's Gloom less of a defining ability then Sow?
All of the alternatives I offered could be given to every warframe without losing much of original's identity, and I'd argue even less of it then with what they currently have.
(Also including 4th abilities as their core ability is amusing when they were explicitly excluded from options for that very reason. Though ironically I'd go so far to say that Mirage's 4 is the least defining part of her kit)
My brother in Void, are you joking? His speed ability is basically the most useful one in terms of subsuming.
You attack faster, reload faster, can complete some missions two times faster (or sometimes even faster than that). Heck, when i was doing caches with my friend (he was Volt and i was Dante since his 3rd is good for breaking boxes through the walls and shit), i've got frustrated how fast he is and how slow i were in comparsion, so i've actually started grinding for second Dante only to subsume his dark verse and put it on Volt.
I've also started to use Volt more after this. My Arca Plasmor is significantly more dangerous on Volt. If i could put his speed on ANY warframe that would be just plain gamebreaking aka Nourish 2.0
Now that I think about it, doesn't Infested Mobility exist? Sure, it's an objectively worse speed(most notably due to being an additive sprint mod and having no offensive ultility), but it's still an option. if speed got the usual ~0.6x modifer on most abilities(i'd guess 45% speed and 15% reload/attack speed), it'd be a really strong pick, but I wouldn't expect it to be on the tier of pre-nerf nourish(especially considering I don't even think the nerf was really enough to stop it's high usage, but we'll have to see on that department). It would kinda beg of the question of "why even keep mobility in the helminth" though.
I put Pillage over Volt's 1 and now I feel like an immobile Pillage Gyre.
Shit is fun as hell though ngl.
Shock is trash shush
Shock is one of the worst 1st ability's...
It's basically an elemental buff with its augment. Radiation/Corrosive build love this skill.
I like shock but i use in only in a crowd of enemies\
He needs another check up. Passive cap should be higher. With a percentage of it used for the next attack. I still wish shocking speed was innate because it is SUCH a good quality of life ability! Plus electric procs haven't been updated and multiple stacks do nothing...
Better yet, just learn not to be rude!
Sigh here we go with insufferable masochist like fandom user 2 replying " STOP giving me good stuff I dont want good stuff I wanna hustle like an idiot"
Good forbid they actually give good reworks and not something that will impress scrubs that just do the bare minimum in the game. Sorry to break it to you but some people do enjoy higher level content and volt's kit alone cant do shit against that.
How delusion are you??? Volt is one of the most used frames becuase his kit is so good, and arguably only can be fully utilised in the late game.
I ought to agree with the person calling Volt one of the best. Outside of his first ability and passive he can do a lot, especially after they made it so that you can carry your shield while using your primary. The shield itself being indestructible and one you can spam multiple of plus his second ability that affects all allies and is essentially cheaper Redline really push him up there. And against enemies that are not immuned to CC his ultimate does a pretty good job.
I think Shock needs to be changed from 25 energy to 15? A change that was made in his mini-rework around veilbreaker. Would do it myself but every time I think I see what I think is an error on this sight I seem to make a fool of myself.
*Site. Look, I can do it even without editing the page!
Do shocked enemies from the chain link get the same damage as the the first inital target?
I dunno if this is true for any frame that you put Shock on after subsuming Volt, but ATM Hildryn Prime has a second delay after hitting whatever ability key you have Shock tied to instead of casting it instantly
Alright, after some testing I can safely say that infusing Shock onto Hildryn Prime is just busted, no matter the slot
I had a rework idea for his passive, maybe he could gain energy depending on how many meters he travels, similar to how Gauss gains redline % for each couple of meters of he moves.
That would def more useful than useless 1k dmg tick every 1min
Faster than Gauss
And yet wisp and nova exist
Maximum range Excalibur with Slash Dash exists.
Not really. Gauss beats Volt every time in 99% of missions. Maximum speed isn't the most important stat.
You're right I forgot Warframe missions are PVP 99% of the time. Acceleration is one thing, sure. But Volt still leaves Gauss biting the dust.
Would discharge + elemental ward give combine to form radiation?
Thinking of making subsuming elemental ward into volt to give him fire damage and health, with capacitance it would add some survivability to him along with archon vitality too for extra health and heat damage?. just a thought.
They dont mix elements. sadly
Very disappointed sickening pulse does not stack with discharge. This needs an update please it's beyond frustrating to grasp the idea and see it wasted when put into practice. Basically DE pull your finger out and plug Volt in.
Imma keep it real wit u chief, volt's upper half looks ugly as shit without the immortal skin
Couldnt agree more.
S u b j e c t i v i t y
Wait. Volts shock doesn't get a damage boost if fired threw the shield? but other frames can? that's weird to me
I agree. Its strange
I was going to make Volt able to nuke even Steel Path's Armored enemies, but Pillage and Fire Blast need line of sight and Terrify has limit to affected targets and the range is kinda short (although I tested it on a build with only 160% Range), and even if I stiped their armor my Discharge is dealing too little damage to them.
Does anyone have any advice on this? or even just some build that make Volt able to Survive Steel Path cause after testing I found out that my SP Volt build is actually bad.
Surviving steel path is quite easy if you put the umbral mods, carnis carapace and the arcane guardian. build discharge to 250% range and the primed continuity mod for duration and freeze all the enemies in place for a good 10 seconds. Tough to do anything to the enemies you will need to build a good weapon.
Surviving steel path is definitely easy. What's undoable is making his ability do damage in steel path. Pillage need way too many cast to strip armor and fire blast need direct los like even when enemy line up infront of you only the one in the front get hit by fire blast.
If you need to cast pillage more than once to strip, you dont have enough ability strength and need to check your build. Pillage volt is pretty amazing
