Controller Settings Not Saving
Edit: General Controller Settings [DualSense5]
So, i have experienced this before, i am unable to do anything in the General Controller Settings.
I cannot rename my controller, change the light or change the player number indicator.
When i change the light color it changes, but only as long as i have the menu open, as soon as i "Submit" it reverts back to Light Blue as the default color
This is on the DS5 controller.
I have tried:
- Editing the Config file, steam just makes a new config file, or ignores my edits even when its "Read Only".
- Running steam in Admin mode
- Running steam in Beta mode
- Unplugging the controller, both wireless and wired.
- Restarting Steam + PC multiple times
I had this problem trying to connect my new PS4 controller. Kept clicking submit and my preferences would not save.
And then I clicked “cancel” instead of submit … and it worked.
Hopefully this works for everyone else too
This worked. Thanks!
I've had this with the Steam Controller too. I wish I'd noticed when it fixed itself but eventually I was able to edit again. I just gave up in the short term.
I had that same problem a while back (twice actually), not just with my Steam controller but also XB360. Eventually I just waited for a Steam update and it suddenly worked.
One thing that helped, I was able to load an older config, edit and export as a new one, and I was only able to do this on my second computer (laptop) to get it to save and work properly across both PCs. That obviously only works on a game with existing profiles so I was SOL on some games until the update, and I can't say that would still work now.
Im unable to change the controller name and led brightness, not the in-game configs itself, i usualy use the backup config trick for that.
Thanks for the replys tho :)
welp it wont work for me :(
I'm trying to set up a X 52 Pro hotas to work properly with No Man's Sky. I followed a steam guide on using the controller settings to map some of its buttons to xbox buttons that the game will recognize. After playing around with it for a few days, I've realized that I need to change it so that different buttons are being used for things. However steam won't save it everytime I try to remap it.
The fact that they still haven't fixed this is embarassing
Big time, Microsoft don't care, clearly. I never had this issue even ONCE on Linux.
