This Syndicate is neutral to other Syndicates. A tight knit band of merchants, hucksters and survivors, the Ostrons call Cetus their home. The town was built around an Orokin Tower, that both protects and nourishes them. The Ostrons are the inhabitants of the Cetus settlement near the Plains of Eidolon on Earth. They are a hardy, mercantile people that dwell in the shadow of the Orokin Tower of the Unum, which they harvest for their livelihood. Kept safe from Grineer aggression by the arcane powers of the Unum herself, Cetus serves as their central trading hub in the Origin System and a refuge for all others who come to it with peaceful intentions. Since the Empire's collapse, the Ostrons were left to their own governance, scavaging what was left of the Empire to survive in a post-Orokin era. On Earth, they formed many colonies, with Cetus being one of the trading hubs of the Ostrons. Cetus is located next to the Plains of Eidolon (known as the Eidolon-Moh by the Ostrons), shielded by the Orokin tower Unum's protective barrier. A versatile and adaptable people, they are able to use anything they can get their hands. Nothing goes to waste with the Ostrons, as their scavenging way of life has taught them to be ingenious and resourceful. Culture and Beliefs[] Ostrons generally engage in market and trade. Despite having various markets all throughout the system and its solar rails, Cetus is the main base and home of the Ostrons. Some may make a living in the markets, while others outside Cetus may create their own toll stations on personally made bridges. Cuisine[] Ostron cusine generally consists of harvested and freshly grown food, such as fish, fruit, and other natural things. The also incorporate the use of spices, which can be seen in great piles in the Cetus marketplace. Some known Ostron cuisines: Kubuchi - Cheap liquor made from fermented sorghum. Often drunk by visitors and offworlders, thinking that it makes them a local of Cetus. However, it is an easy way to make yourself look oblivious and gullible. Daku liquor - The Suma Doni (a lowlands marsupial) eats the peca nut, which excretes a fine paste. It is from this paste that the Ostrons make daku liquor. Wine - Some merchants claim to be able to imbue a bottle with the 'etheric signature' of a person one wishes to be rid of. Drink them in the evening, expel them by morning. Highly sought after. Temple flesh - Harvested from the temple body of the Unum, her fascia is rendered and filleted for both consumption and sale. Chimurr - An Ostron tea-like beverage. Brewed by filling a gourd with bomba leaves, then adding steaming water and imbibing through a burnished juta reed. A very old Ostron tradition. To serve it to guests signifies union and friendship. Harpu - Freshly-brewed chimurr, served with melted vobi butter to keep it from congealing. Bulked salt and balb flour; always served hot. A filling and tasty beverage. Balb root - A plant root that is used to create blab flour. Bomba Fruit - A sweet fruit. It leaves are used as an ingredient for Chimurr. Juta Reed - Reed-like plants used as straws for beverages. Also an ingredient used in Chimurr. Ito-da - Mineral-rich termite droppings used as survival food. Kuaka - Slow-roasted, it is a personal favorite of Master Teasonai. Norg Brain - Harvested from Norgs, its seen as a delicacy. Vobi - Generally served as a butter and mixed with Chimurr to make Harpu, although it can also be made into cheese. Golden caviar - Harvested from abyssal depths such as the Geonate Shelf. Chumpa Grub - An Ostron delicacy, coveted for its gelatinous internal organs and aroma. Mulala twigs - Fine twigs that are packed into smoking pipes. Xanthophyl - Called ‘Kabakka’ by the Ostrons; gourds that are a staple in simple Ostron cuisine, often used to fortify soups and stews. They are unique plants that grow in the forests of Earth. Maprico - A hardy fruit with thick skin and sweet pulp. Grows in bushes on the Plains of Eidolon. Kuteo - Nutritious gourds. Rubad - A tangy fruit enjoyed by the Ostrons. Peca nuts - Nuts that are used to created daku liquor. Xanthophyl, or Kabakka gourdsA cluster of fruiting Bomba plants Technology[] Zaws - Modular Ostron melee weapons The Ostrons are not the most technologically advanced people, and mainly use archaic technology and weapons, such as explosives, blades and firearms. They mainly employ the use of Zaws and firearms, which are used by the Ostron militia to defend Cetus from the Grineer and their ghouls. Some normal citizens may possess firearms, such as fishermen. Occasionally, a Corpus Crewship will land on the docks or leave them, in the shadow of the Orokin tower. Pre-release streams showed the presence of Corpus Crewmen in the markets, abiding by a cease-fire, but their presence seems to have been removed as of release. As of the release of Fortuna, there are now once again Corpus Crewmen hanging around Cetus, as well as some Solaris that have set up a stall. The blade that Hok can be seen wielding cannot actually be crafted by the player, because it is missing a required link component. The Ostrons are featured in WARFRAME: Ghouls comic series. After a Tenno reaches the rank of Trusted with the Ostrons, NPCs will adopt a much friendlier and revering manners towards the Tenno.
